Chapter 186

Chapter 186

"Sabrina!" Five-year-old Owen had no idea what Sabrina was thinking. He rushed over and hugged her leg tightly. "I missed you so much."

But Sabrina deliberately gasped and showed Owen her hand with the bandage on it. "Owen, I hurt my hand. I can't hug you right now."

Owen had been sent to the Forbes Family estate for several days because of his recurring fever. He thought Sabrina would be really excited to see him back and would hug him warmly like before.

But he was disappointed.

Seeing Owen's low spirits, Sabrina thought it over and finally decided to say a few words to comfort him.

"Owen, you're almost six years old now. You're becoming a little man."

"So you need to learn to be understanding and take care of girls. That way, more and more people will like you."

Owen let go and mumbled a response.

Sabrina smiled, said nothing more, and walked past Owen into the house.

But when no one was looking, her eyes flashed with deep disgust.

Kids were really the most annoying. Once she got Alexander, she'd have a hundred ways to deal with Owen.

"Landon! Take these things back to Charlotte right now, or don't call me mom anymore!" After hearing why Landon came, Nicole refused on the spot.

She really felt bad for Charlotte.

When Charlotte married into the Forbes Family in her prime, for seven whole years she was busy taking care of the family, never getting a break.

Now that she was divorced, she only took a hundred million, which was basically like leaving with nothing!

Cynthia and Alexander had really gone too far!

So Charlotte deserved to have these jewels.

Seeing Nicole's firm attitude, Landon looked at the heavy jewelry and suddenly smiled. "Since neither of you wants them, how about giving them to me?"

Nicole gave Landon a sideways glance. "You need these things?"

But Landon grinned and came over to massage her shoulders. "Yes! I really do!"

"When I get married someday, I can use them to make your daughter-in-law happy."

Nicole obviously didn't believe him, but hearing that Landon planned to get married, she smiled a bit. "You never let me worry less."

"But it would be nice to have a woman come back to take care of you guys."

Standing behind her, Landon raised his eyebrows. "Is it possible that I'd marry her to take care of her instead?"

Nicole snorted. "You taking care of someone else? Forget it."

Landon smiled thoughtfully. "Mom, want to make a bet?"

Nicole stared at Landon. "I don't have time for your nonsense."

"In a couple days, find time to take me to see Charlotte and return these things to her."

Looking around the house, Nicole said with some sadness, "She probably doesn't want to come back here anymore."

Landon tilted his chin up slightly, his words carrying hidden meaning. "Don't worry, she'll come back to see you sooner or later."

After returning to Prime Estate, Landon didn't go to his study to handle documents but headed straight to the kitchen.

"Ellen, I want to ask you something."

Ellen felt a bit flattered. "Mr. Forbes, just tell me what you need."

But Landon pressed his lips together and thought for a long while. Just when Ellen was almost out of patience, he finally spoke slowly. "What kind of men do you women like? Rich ones, or ones who take care of people?"

Ellen was confused.

Was this something she should be thinking about?

She remembered when she was young, she only met her husband once for an arranged meeting, didn't even hold hands before getting married and having kids. She never thought about what kind of man she liked.

But since Landon was asking, she'd try to answer.

So Ellen thought hard and answered according to her own feelings. "Being rich is definitely good! But if a man is caring and considerate, that's definitely the best."

After hearing this, Landon seemed lost in thought.

Just when Ellen thought it was over, Landon's next words almost made her drop the vegetables in her hands.

"Ellen, teach me how to cook from now on."

Had Landon gone crazy?

She didn't say that being caring and considerate included cooking!

Besides, Landon was so rich that even if he married a wife, there would be servants to take care of things. Why would he need to do housework himself?

Landon must have lost his mind.

That evening, at the Howard Family estate.

As soon as Jordan walked in, Debra gave him a big eye roll!

He had no idea what was going on and could only ask innocently, "Mom, what's wrong? I don't remember doing anything to upset you."

Nearby, Megan carried a plate of cut fruit and set it in front of Jordan. "This time you really upset Mom badly."

Jordan looked helpless.

He quietly moved next to Lily, who was munching on an apple, and asked softly, "Lily, what's wrong with Grandma? Tell me quick."

Lily had no idea what was going on.

"Grandma was pretty happy earlier, but she got angry as soon as you came back." After saying this, Lily went back to eating her sweet and fragrant apple.

As expected, asking was pointless.

Could it be that he really had upset Debra?

Seeing Jordan's clueless look, Megan couldn't help herself. "Mom called you several times this afternoon, and you didn't answer."

Jordan quickly explained, "I did two major surgeries in a row this afternoon. I didn't even touch my phone."

"And after the surgeries ended, I called Mom back right away. But she wouldn't answer, which worried me so much that I called home to ask the servants. That's when I found out Mom went out to eat with Mrs. Walker and the others."

At this point, Jordan suddenly paused. "Megan, is the problem with the dinner?"

Megan looked at Jordan with satisfaction. "At least you're smart. But do you know who Mom had dinner with tonight?"

Then Megan's face showed a gleeful expression. "Your classmate, Charlotte."

So it was Charlotte!

But even if he'd known, what could he have done? He couldn't just abandon his patients.

He felt regretful and frustrated, but also helpless. "Megan, I still have surgeries to do."

At this point, Debra snorted from the side. "Megan is only two years older than you, and now Lily is almost six."

"And you're still single!"

"Anyway, I don't care. If you still can't find a wife in two more years, I'll arrange a marriage for you."

Jordan looked helpless. "Mom—"

Debra glared at him. "No objections allowed."

Jordan looked to Megan for help, but she had already turned away, smiling as she pretended to talk to Lily.

After eating dinner feeling dejected, Jordan went straight to his study.

Today's surgery had given him some inspiration, so he needed to look up information right away to determine the treatment direction for this type of case in the future.

But just as he picked up a thick book, his phone rang.

It was Lucas Brown, who he'd studied abroad with.

Lucas actually had some connection to the Howard Family.

Not only was he the cousin of Megan's husband, but he was also Jordan's senior from middle school.

In high school, Lucas was one grade above Jordan. But unlike Jordan the straight-A student, Lucas spent his days either fighting or bullying classmates. Even the troublemaker Calvin had suffered at his hands.

Later, his father saw he was completely out of control and simply sent Lucas abroad to study, out of sight, out of mind.

It wasn't until he came back for Megan's wedding that Jordan ran into Lucas again at the reception. After learning they were both studying abroad, they started having some contact.

Why was he calling so late at night? Was something urgent going on?
