Chapter 185
Alexander was the first to step into the private room.
"Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Howard, what a coincidence."
Seeing that it was Alexander, Amanda and Debra secretly exchanged glances, both showing a flash of disdain in their eyes.
But after all, the Walker Family and the Howard Family both had close ties with the Forbes Family, so they couldn't be too obvious about it. They just nodded coolly at Alexander.
As for Charlotte, she remained seated without even looking up, completely ignoring Alexander.
Alexander saw this, and a nameless anger suddenly flared up inside him.
"Charlotte, why are you here with Mrs. Walker and the others?"
Being called out by name, Charlotte frowned slightly, her voice cold: "Do I need to report to you about who I have dinner with?"
Alexander was momentarily speechless.
At this moment, Calvin, who had been following behind him, jumped out and looked Charlotte up and down with glee: "After screwing over Alexander and me, now you're here to screw over Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Howard?"
Only then did Charlotte lift her eyelids and glance at him like she was looking at trash: "I'm just having a meal with these two ladies. Is that worth you guys caring so much and keeping tabs on me?"
"People who don't know better would think you can't get over me."
Since they were already divorced and had fallen out, Charlotte had no intention of saving Alexander any face.
"Us care about you? A fool who didn't even finish high school - even looking at you once makes me feel dirty."
Calvin said while pretending to gag: "Let me tell you the truth, we came here today to kindly remind you that your good days are coming to an end."
"And about how cocky you were a few days ago - just wait and see. Whatever you took away, you'll have to give it all back the same way!"
"As for getting back together with Alexander, I'd advise you to give up on that idea right now, and don't think Mrs. Walker and the others will plead your case!"
Alexander also added coolly from the side: "Charlotte, if you knew it would come to this, why did you do it in the first place?"
Charlotte was slightly surprised and looked at them like they were idiots: "Get back together? What are you thinking?"
Alexander's face darkened as he said through gritted teeth: "Charlotte, stop being stubborn. There's no point."
Charlotte was stunned: "I'm being stubborn?"
"You went to all this trouble to invite Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Howard to dinner, isn't it just so they'd play peacemaker and help you beg me to get back together?"
Charlotte laughed in disbelief: "Alexander, you really think too highly of yourself."
"And if you came in here just for this, then you can get lost now."
Staring at Charlotte's face full of impatience, Alexander's eyes darkened, and his heart grew increasingly irritated: "Back then, if you hadn't deliberately deceived me, how would I have married you?"
At this point, Debra couldn't take it anymore and stood up directly: "Alexander, you can't just say whatever you want. Back then, you two got married willingly. What deception are you talking about?"
Amanda also stood up and patted Charlotte's hand soothingly: "Debra's right. And tonight I was the one who asked Charlotte out, because I wanted to get more sleeping candles from her to treat my husband's insomnia."
"Besides, we're almost done with our meal, and Charlotte hasn't mentioned you even once."
"Let me leave you with this: it's good for young people to be confident, but being overly narcissistic is just annoying."
Seeing Alexander embarrassed, Sabrina was secretly annoyed but stepped forward with a sweet smile: "Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Howard, you've misunderstood Alexander."
Hearing Sabrina's words, Amanda and Debra couldn't help but get goosebumps at the same time.
Sabrina didn't notice anything wrong and continued in her soft, weak voice: "Actually, Alexander just wanted to remind you that Charlotte has nothing to do with the Forbes Family anymore, so you really don't need to waste your time on her."
Debra laughed coldly: "You're right! Since Charlotte has nothing to do with the Forbes Family anymore, who she has dinner and chats with - is that any of your business?"
"The Forbes Family may be powerful and influential, but isn't this overstepping a bit?"
Seeing Amanda and Debra defending Charlotte like this, Alexander was completely stunned.
After being embarrassed in front of Amanda and the others, Alexander's group had to slink back to their own private room in defeat.
Calvin knew he'd caused trouble and made Alexander lose face in front of Amanda and the others, so he was unusually quiet during the meal.
During dinner, Alexander heard movement from next door - it seemed they were finished and about to leave.
But listening to that faint, incredibly familiar voice, Alexander inexplicably felt a sense of loss.
That voice sounded so full of joy - could it be that leaving him really made her that happy?
Sabrina saw his distraction and couldn't help but bite her lip resentfully.
What trick was Charlotte playing?
Was she still playing hard to get?
Throughout the meal, all three had their own thoughts, and the food was tasteless.
After returning to Forbes Estate, Sabrina was planning to chat with Alexander to stop him from thinking about Charlotte.
Unexpectedly, a figure suddenly rushed out from inside the house: "Sabrina! You're back!"
After seeing who it was, a flash of disgust crossed Sabrina's eyes.
