Chapter 174

Chapter 174

Alexander was completely unprepared and got stomped on hard by Charlotte!

The pain made him instinctively let go.

Charlotte broke free and quickly backed away several steps, putting enough distance between herself and Alexander.

At that moment, Jenna, who had been watching from nearby, rushed over: "Charlotte, are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Charlotte shook her head, looking at Alexander with satisfaction. "He's hurting way more than me."

Charlotte's cold laugh snapped Alexander back to reality.

He clearly saw the intense disgust and revulsion in Charlotte's eyes when she looked at him.

It was an emotion he had never seen on her face before.

This feeling made him very uncomfortable, and he wanted to get rid of it immediately.

He stared at Charlotte: "Charlotte, I'm asking you one last time. Do you really want a divorce?"

Charlotte blurted out without hesitation: "Divorce! I just want a divorce!"

Looking at Charlotte, Alexander's eyes gradually turned cold: "Charlotte, you'll regret this."

But Charlotte glanced at the time, looking anxious: "We can still make it if we go now! Did you bring your documents?"

Alexander looked at her expressionlessly: "In an hour and a half, meet me at the courthouse entrance."

With that, he turned and left, refusing to say another word.

Because he worried that if he didn't leave now, he might change his mind again.

As if not expecting Alexander to leave so suddenly, Charlotte thought for a moment, then shouted at his back just to be sure: "Remember! In an hour and a half, be there or be square!"

Alexander's body stiffened slightly.

But Charlotte had already put her arm around Jenna's shoulder and was walking quickly toward where they'd parked.

As they walked, Jenna gave Charlotte a thumbs up: "He finally couldn't take it anymore! Charlotte, you really know what you're doing!"

Charlotte tossed her hair proudly: "He's not stupid! He definitely knows that if he keeps dragging this out, he'll be the only one losing big."

Over two days, Charlotte had dragged Jenna to almost every high-end establishment in River City.

The key was, she carried her marriage certificate with her and would go straight to the manager as soon as she walked in.

When the staff saw her refined demeanor, they didn't dare neglect her and immediately called the manager over.

Charlotte didn't waste words. She'd show them the marriage certificate directly: "I'm Mrs. Forbes, wife of Alexander, CEO of the Forbes Group. All my purchases here should be charged to Alexander's account. You can just take the bill to the Forbes Group for payment later."

When these people learned she was Mrs. Forbes, they couldn't wait to flatter her. How could they possibly refuse?

What surprised Charlotte most was Aurora Gems.

She'd thought that since the Collins Group was the Forbes Group's old rival, they'd surely give her the cold shoulder. But unexpectedly, everyone at Aurora Gems, from top to bottom, was exceptionally warm to her—so warm it made her a bit uncomfortable.

So the next day she couldn't help going back again and bought nearly twenty million in jewelry.

This time when she left, Grant, the owner of the Collins Group, even came over specially to see her out personally, smiling brightly.

She had to admit, he had way more class than Alexander.

Beside her, Jenna's disdainful voice quickly brought Charlotte back: "If Alexander had just agreed to divorce you properly, would we have needed to resort to this?"

"Bottom line, he brought this on himself!"

"Right, he brought it on himself!" Charlotte said while urging her to get in the car quickly.

But Jenna looked confused: "It's only a twenty-minute drive from here to the courthouse. What's the rush?"

Charlotte flicked her forehead: "Who said I'm going to the courthouse now?"

Jenna looked puzzled: "Then where else do you want to go?"

Charlotte raised an eyebrow: "To buy gold, of course."

Jenna stopped in her tracks: "You're not still planning to use that marriage certificate, are you?"

Charlotte pulled out the marriage certificate and waved it in front of her: "Of course! It'll be worthless in an hour, might as well use it while I can!"

The admiration in Jenna's eyes was practically overflowing. When could she borrow Charlotte's clever brain for a while?

Meanwhile, at the River City courthouse, someone had been waiting for nearly ten hours.

Landon leaned against his car door, took a deep drag on his cigarette, then threw the butt on the ground and crushed it hard.

On the ground, there were already a dozen similar cigarette butts scattered about.

After thinking for a moment, he pulled out his phone to check again.

Could he have gotten the date wrong?

That shouldn't be possible. He'd been counting down the days one by one—it was definitely today!

And he'd been here waiting since before dawn, so he couldn't have missed them.

Could it be that Alexander had backed out?

At the thought of this possibility, Landon's eyes narrowed, revealing a hint of menace.

Alexander first rushed home to get the marriage certificate, then back to the office to get his documents. This series of actions quickly caught Sabrina's attention.

When she learned that Alexander was finally going to officially divorce Charlotte, she couldn't suppress her inner joy.

'Charlotte, keep making trouble! Alexander's finally had enough of you,' she thought.

But on the surface, she still looked regretful: "Charlotte loves you so much. Alexander, maybe you should reconsider?"

"There's no need."

Alexander's expression was firm.

Even now, he still didn't think officially divorcing Charlotte was that serious.

Actually, he had countless ways to delay or prevent Charlotte from getting divorced.

But in the end, he agreed to the divorce.

Because he wanted Charlotte to realize that leaving him and the Forbes Family would leave her with nothing.

Let her make a fuss and struggle for a while, then she'd see reality and stop having naive and wishful thoughts.

Then she'd understand that without his protection and the Forbes Family's support, she'd fall into the mud, unable even to maintain basic survival.

That way, she'd obediently come back to him and continue being that compliant, sensible Mrs. Forbes.

This was the main reason he ultimately agreed to go through with the procedures.

Alexander was lost in thought when his phone suddenly rang.

It was a landline number.

After thinking for a moment, he pressed the answer button.

"Hello, this is the River City courthouse. Is this Alexander speaking?"
