Chapter 175
Hearing "court," Alexander had a bad feeling: "Yes, I'm Alexander."
The clear, formal voice on the other end spoke again: "Here's the situation. Your wife, Ms. Spencer, filed for divorce with our court a couple days ago."
Alexander clenched his hand tightly.
How dare Charlotte!
If other people found out, especially those in high society circles, that he, the CEO of the Forbes Group, was being sued for divorce by his wife, where would he put his face?
'Charlotte, you've really gone too far!' he thought.
A surge of anger shot up from his heart, rushing straight to his head. Alexander felt his head buzzing.
He even forgot what he said to the other person or how he hung up the phone.
Until Sabrina grabbed his wrist with a worried look: "Alexander, what lawsuit? What court? What happened?"
Alexander slowly released his clenched hand: "Charlotte—she filed for divorce with the court."
"What?" Sabrina was thrilled inside but pretended to be shocked. "Alexander, you've been so good to Charlotte, but she doesn't appreciate it. This must be so hard on you."
"Looks like I've been too good to her before." Alexander's face darkened, a hint of self-mockery appearing in his eyes.
Sabrina subtly lifted the corner of her mouth.
Alexander was really angry.
It looked like the divorce was pretty much settled.
'Charlotte, you stupid woman, you don't even know how to keep things in check. You deserve to be kicked out of the Forbes Family,' she thought.
Just as she was thinking about how to continue comforting Alexander, someone knocked on the office door.
Barely suppressing his irritation, Alexander called out for them to enter.
Soon, the Forbes Group's Business Director walked in.
"Mr. Forbes, several business partners just sent notices saying they want to cancel their cooperation with us."
Alexander's pupils contracted slightly, finally snapping completely out of his daze: "What's going on? Haven't we been cooperating well all along?"
The Business Director hesitated: "Mr. Forbes, here's what I heard."
"Several partners discovered that Mrs. Forbes has been meeting with their competitor companies these past two days and even took quite a few things from them. So they suspect we're being two-faced, using Mrs. Forbes as a cover while secretly negotiating with the other side."
"Ridiculous!" Alexander couldn't hold back and blurted out.
The Business Director quickly lowered his head but had to steel himself to continue: "Mr. Forbes, Summit Innovations Group also wants to cancel their cooperation with us."
Alexander looked incredulous: "Summit Innovations Group? We've been working with them for over ten years without any problems. How could they possibly cancel so easily?"
The Business Director paused, seeming to weigh his words: "Mr. Forbes, this is what the person who called said."
"The wife of Summit Innovations Group happened to be shopping at our jewelry store today and ran into Mrs. Forbes and Ms. Spencer arguing over a bracelet." He spoke while stealing glances at Alexander's expression. "After she got home, somehow she insisted her husband cancel the cooperation with us."
Having finally finished the whole sentence, the Business Director felt a chill down his back, as if he'd broken out in a cold sweat.
Actually, the people from Summit Innovations Group had said some other things on the phone, but he didn't dare repeat them.
After all, this concerned Alexander's image, and Alexander was so protective of Sabrina, so he could only choose his words carefully. What shouldn't be said, he didn't say at all.
However, Alexander was already completely absorbed in his own thoughts and didn't bother to blame him.
The wife of Summit Innovations Group?
Alexander finally remembered—at the jewelry store at noon, there was a woman who looked like a wealthy lady who kept speaking up for Charlotte.
He'd thought she looked familiar at the time, but he was so angry with Charlotte that he couldn't place her.
Now it seemed she must be Mrs. Morgan from Summit Innovations Group.
Everyone in the circle knew that Caleb Morgan, CEO of Summit Innovations Group, was crazy about his wife and hated nothing more than people who treated their wives badly. So this time, Charlotte had dragged him down again.
Nearby, seeing Alexander's dark expression and silence, Sabrina quickly gave the Business Director a look, signaling him to leave first.
After the Business Director gratefully retreated, Sabrina looked at the documents he'd left behind with mixed feelings.
This time Charlotte had really crossed Alexander's line.
This time, even if she wanted to withdraw the divorce application, it wouldn't be possible.
As Sabrina thought this, she gently moved closer to Alexander again.
"Alexander, I'm sorry, this is all my fault. If I'd just let Charlotte have that bracelet earlier—"
"Don't say anymore." Before she could finish, Alexander raised his hand and wearily cut her off. "This has nothing to do with you. It's all Charlotte's fault."
Alexander's voice was low, his expression unreadable. Even Sabrina couldn't see what he was really thinking.
Only Alexander knew the fury raging inside him.
This time, no matter what, he had to teach Charlotte a lesson!
This divorce—he was definitely going through with it!
At the courthouse entrance.
Jenna looked down the street again: "Charlotte, you don't think Alexander will back out again, do you?"
She looked worried: "Sabrina is the worst! What if she comes up with something—"
Charlotte smiled, looking completely confident: "Don't worry, Alexander will definitely come."
Would he not worry about Charlotte continuing to use the title of Mrs. Forbes to cause trouble and rack up debts everywhere?
By then, probably the entire Forbes Group wouldn't be enough for her to mess up.
After all, how could a shrewd businessman like Alexander not understand what was in his best interest?
As for Sabrina, she couldn't wait for Charlotte to divorce Alexander sooner—why would she interfere at such a critical moment?
Sure enough, just as she finished speaking, Jenna excitedly grabbed her sleeve: "He's here, he's here! He really came!"
Looking at that tall, straight figure, Charlotte slowly broke into a cold smile.
Alexander really came.
Beside her, Jenna couldn't help grinding her teeth: "Good thing you were smart enough to think of this method, otherwise they would've bullied you to death!"
"Later, when Alexander finds out you opened your own studio, he'll probably regret it to death."
Charlotte lightly pressed her lips: "Whether he regrets it or not has nothing to do with me anymore."
Jenna nodded emphatically: "You're right! Let him get lost!"
However, when she saw the two people following behind Alexander, Jenna's expression changed.
"Why did Alexander bring those two jerks too! Now my good mood is completely ruined."
"Probably waiting to go celebrate together right after the divorce." Charlotte looked like she'd expected this and even patted Jenna's shoulder consolingly. "Just bear with it a little longer, it'll be over soon."
As they spoke, Alexander's group had already reached Charlotte and Jenna.
Looking at the woman before him, Alexander's face was expressionless, showing no extra emotion.
"I already agreed to the divorce. Why did you still need to file a lawsuit? Do you know how much damage this will cause to the Forbes Group once it goes public?"
Charlotte looked mocking: "What? You're allowed to go back on your word, but I'm not allowed to prepare a backup plan? Mr. Forbes, please have some shame."
Alexander's face darkened.
But Sabrina rushed to speak for him: "Charlotte, Alexander just doesn't want things to get too ugly between everyone. Why can't you understand his good intentions?"
Charlotte shot back: "Right, I don't understand. You can have it all."
Alexander stepped forward to shield Sabrina behind him, his eyes dark.
"Is everything ready?"
Charlotte immediately understood what he meant, raised an eyebrow, and patted her bag: "Been ready for ages."
But Alexander's eyes were deep as the sea: "I'm not talking about that."
"That day you said you'd have that old doctor at the clinic help Sabrina with her health."
Charlotte looked exasperated: "But—"
"No buts." Alexander cut her off cleanly. "If you want a divorce, you need to offer something of equal value in exchange."
"You said yourself that between us, it's only about trading conditions now."
