Chapter 156
Calvin threw his cigarette butt hard on the ground and stomped on it twice.
Charlotte hadn't even officially divorced Alexander yet, and here she was, already seducing other men. How shameless!
"Charlotte!"
Calvin strode toward her: "Didn't I tell you to wait at home? Why did you come here? Haven't you hurt Sabrina enough?"
Charlotte was about to snap back when Jordan stepped in front of her first. "Calvin, this is a hospital. Please watch your tone."
Calvin knew Jordan was a hospital specialist and Sabrina's attending doctor, so he didn't dare cross him too much.
"This is just how I always talk to Charlotte. Even Alexander has no problem with it."
Catching Calvin's veiled warning, Jordan's handsome face turned stern. "I don't care how you act outside, but this is a hospital, and I'm in charge here."
Seeing Calvin get shut down, Charlotte felt secretly pleased.
But she hadn't forgotten why she came. "Calvin, if you're so worried about Sabrina's health, why won't you trade Jenna's whereabouts for it?"
At the mention of Jenna's name, Jordan shot Charlotte a questioning look.
Charlotte gave him a confirming look.
Jenna was their high school classmate, so Jordan was familiar with the name.
Seeing Charlotte and Jordan exchanging glances right in front of him, Calvin got furious. "Charlotte, don't forget Alexander is right there in the hospital room."
Charlotte cut him off without mercy. "Alexander can be all cozy with his first love, but I can't even talk to another man?"
"Besides, you never hold back when you see me. Why should I?"
Calvin was heaving with rage. "Charlotte, you vicious woman!"
"No wonder Sabrina didn't want to go to that clinic for treatment. I think she was right all along."
"That old man is a fraud. You probably bribed him already, just waiting to poison Sabrina with the medicine!"
Charlotte sneered. "Calvin, if your brain is sick, go see a doctor."
"You guys said Sabrina only has a few months to live. Why would I even need to poison her?"
"And if you don't want to trade, fine. I'll just report it to the police after twenty-four hours."
Mentioning Jenna made Calvin arrogant again. "Report to the police? Go ahead then!"
"Jenna came to find me on her own, and she went to the suburbs with me willingly. I didn't force her or kidnap her. Go ahead and report it if you can."
Looking at Calvin's extreme arrogance, Charlotte clenched her fists in anger.
Jordan quickly held her back. "Stay calm."
Charlotte was about to say something when her phone suddenly rang.
She quickly looked down. Could it be Jenna calling back?
She was disappointed.
It was Zack calling, probably asking when she'd come down.
She answered the call.
"Ms. Spencer! We found Miss Hayes." Zack's excited voice came through the phone.
"What did you say?" Charlotte almost dropped her phone.
It was so sudden that she almost thought she was hearing things.
"Ms. Spencer, it's true. Mr. Landon Forbes flew back to River City early this morning and personally led the search team to find her."
Zack's voice came through the phone again, and Charlotte finally believed it. "Where is she now?"
"Miss Hayes is currently in the inpatient department of Hopewell Hospital, seventh floor—"
Before he could finish, Charlotte was already striding quickly toward the elevator.
Jordan gave Calvin a cold look, then followed her.
Only Calvin stood there stunned, taking a while to come to his senses.
He slapped his forehead. "Did she find Jenna?"
Moments later, in one of the hospital rooms on the seventh floor of Hopewell Hospital's inpatient department.
Jenna, with a bruised and swollen face, lay in the hospital bed receiving treatment.
Watching Charlotte sitting beside her with red eyes, saying nothing, Jenna couldn't help but tentatively say. "Charlotte, don't be angry. From now on, I'll tell you before I do anything."
Charlotte glared at her. "If this happens again, I'm ending our friendship!"
"I know I was wrong. I'll never do it again." Jenna quickly put on a pitiful look to gain sympathy. "Don't be angry anymore."
Charlotte gently poked Jenna's forehead with her finger. "Remember what you said today."
"Also, what exactly happened? Tell me now."
Jenna obediently said "okay". "I did go find Calvin myself, because Lenora, who smeared both of us, works for him."
"But the worst part is, Calvin promised to take me to where Lenora lives to discuss deleting the posts, but instead, he took me to a remote place."
Charlotte tightened her grip. "Bastard."
"That's not all. After he kicked me out of the car, he took my phone and told me to walk back to the city."
"Then I walked alone, I don't know for how long, until I ran into Mr. Forbes."
Charlotte's hands on her lap slowly clenched. "He went too far!"
Jenna quickly grabbed her hand. "Charlotte, please don't misunderstand."
"Actually, Calvin didn't beat me. It's just that it was dark, and while I was looking for the road, I accidentally fell into a mud pit."
Although Jenna really disliked Calvin, he truly hadn't hit her. He just tricked her out of the car, took her phone, and left.
Plus, although Charlotte had decided to divorce Alexander, they had too many ties between them, and they had a child together.
If their relationship worsened again because of what happened between her and Calvin, that wasn't what she wanted to see.
After all, Jenna only hoped Charlotte and Alexander could part on good terms and both lead peaceful, happy lives afterward.
After listening, Charlotte suddenly stood up. "But he's the one who caused this to happen to you!"
Jenna sighed. "I guess you have a point there."
Charlotte turned and nodded to Jordan, who had followed them. "Jordan, please help me look after Jenna."
Jordan quickly grabbed her arm. "What are you going to do?"
Charlotte's expression was cold. "I'm going to get justice."
Jordan looked at her deeply, then finally let go. "Be careful. Come back soon. Jenna is waiting for you."
Charlotte agreed and turned to leave.
Jenna couldn't stop her even if she tried.
Meanwhile, upstairs in the VIP ward.
Calvin looked furious. "Charlotte left in such a rush just now. I wonder if Jenna escaped and came back?"
Alexander frowned. "Calvin, that's enough."
But Calvin looked dismissive. "They hurt Sabrina like this, and you're telling me that's enough? Alexander, are you going soft on Charlotte?"
"Let me tell you, just now in the hallway, I saw her making eyes at Jordan with my own eyes."
