Chapter 62:

Chapter 62:
Ezmeralda POV:

“Okay, so the shower is right through there. Stuff has already been placed and you have towels and clothes ready to go. I’ll be here when you get out.” I gestured. She nodded and ran off to the bathroom and I blew out the breath that I was holding.

“She is going to have major trauma.” Ash whispered.

“Can you blame her? She watched her whole family be killed and she was taken. It doesn’t look like they harmed her though.” I replied.

“I wonder if she was there as a decoy or something. They made her look like them but she’s not and in a war we won’t stop to investigate every single person we come across.” Ash said.

“That’s it!” I said looking at him. That is why they are taking some of the humans!

“Think about it. They know we won’t harm an innocent person but what would happen if we did?” I stated.

“We would feel like shit.” Ash muttered.

“That among other things. It would devastate normal people but if a dark or white witch kills an innocent it takes a part of our soul.” I whispered.

“So they are taking people to turn you into black witches.” Ash said and I nodded. Now it was starting to make sense.

“I don’t know how we are going to do this. Maybe there is a spell or something I can find that can help.” I said.

“But what about the humans they’ve killed?” Ash questioned.

“I don’t know, maybe they refused or try to fight back. Or they are trying to do something else that we don’t know about.” I replied.

“Can’t Mariah see through  his eyes?” Ash asked.

“She can but it makes her eyes bleed and hurts her. Maybe the white witches in the cell can tell us something so we don’t have to. Plus we still have the ceremony and we have other things to figure out. It just doesn’t seem like we have a lot of time.” I huffed.

“Well we will let Natalie deal with her witches and you can practice your stuff. We can set days on when we plan the ceremony like maybe we can set three nights out of the week to do dinner and plan it then.” Ash stated. I swear this man is always thinking of things when I can’t.

“Besides, I’m curious to see what Bobbie and Blake can do now that they’ve mated. She can shock people. I wonder if he will be able to as well.” Ash added.

“I’m curious about that too. Oh and also Adira and Michael. I’m willing to bet Wayne is able to know the futures and everything else to help Mariah.” I replied. I heard the bathroom door open and Sally poked her head out.

“Come sit, let’s talk for a moment while you drink this.” I said holding up the glass of water that was soaking the herbs. She came and sat on the edge of the bed and inspected the glass.

“This will help you sleep and you won’t have any nightmares. I’m willing to bet you haven’t slept all that good if you’ve slept at all.” I whispered.

“I haven’t really slept that much.” Sally responded. I held the glass out to her and she took it and started drinking.

“So I was thinking maybe we can throw you a birthday party. What do you think?” I asked.

“I don’t want to take away from anything. You guys seem so busy all of the time.” Sally shrugged and I laughed.

“We are really good at multitasking. What are some of your favorite things? Colors maybe? Oh! Or what about a theme?” I asked. Ash rested his hand on my shoulders.

“Sorry, I get a little overly excited sometimes.” I giggled.

“I like horses and purple. Horses are just so pretty. I used to walk to my neighbors house. She had so many and she would let me help with them.” Sally smiled. I could tell that the herbs were starting to kick in.

“Well, I have an awesome surprise for you tomorrow. For now, let’s get some rest. We will be right next door so if you need anything at all just come and get us.” I said as I tucked her in.

“Thank you for letting me stay.” Sally whispered as she fell asleep. I brushed her hair back and kisses her forehead,

“Da me a te dormi tranquillo e sogna i cavalli. (From me to thee sleep peacefully and dream of horses.” I whispered.

I took one more look at her before I closed the door behind me, she was smiling and I felt my shoulders relax. I turned to walk to our room to find Ash leaning against the door frame smiling.

“What?” I asked.

“She’s about to become permanent.” Ash laughed.

“Yes, she absolutely is. She is mine and she is yours.” I replied with a smile.

“I know, it’s written all over your face, truthfully I knew the moment she clung to you.” Ash said. I walked into our room and I started to feel the emotions of the day weigh me down like a ton of bricks.

“Let’s get you in the shower and into bed. We are all exhausted.” Ash whispered. I looked at the clock to see that it was only eight at night. It’s still early and even though I really wanted to go and check on the others I was too tired and I would be able to sleep in and get some much needed rest.

I followed Ash to the bathroom and walked into the shower, allowing the hot water to soothe me. I stood still as he washed my hair and body. When we got out of the shower I put one of his shirts over me and brushed through my hair before climbing into bed. When I was wrapped in his arms I allowed myself to succumb to the darkness..
