Did you
Did you
Lucas's point of view
A sudden coldness hit my core, every muscle in me going numb, and I found myself frozen to the ground.
His words kept ringing in my ears, no matter how much I wanted to ignore them.
Sophie stumbled a step back, using the table to keep her balance, and tears began welling in her eyes.
"I think my job here is finished, I'm leaving. Bye,"
Liam said in a singing voice as he turned and began making his way out of the room.
In a few seconds, the door slammed closed, leaving Sophie and me.
The air was tense with betrayal.
Judging by her expression, I knew Liam was telling the truth, but I still wanted to hear it from her.
"Did you do it?"
I'm trying hard to control my emotions. I wanted her to tell me she didn't. I was ready to believe her if she only told me she did not do it.
But Sophie couldn't utter a word as she burst into sobs, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Did you do it or not?"
I hate myself for shouting, but I wanted her to tell me the truth. I wanted to hear it from her.
"I did it, Lucas. I did it, okay," Sophie yelled through her sobs.
I felt a sharp pang cutting through my chest, like someone was digging a dagger into my heart, and the pain was too unbearable.
"H..How could you do that without even telling me?"
My lungs constricted with a deep pain I couldn't control. It was too painful for me to bear, and the last time I felt like this was when my mom almost died. I never thought I'd feel like this ever again, but she managed to make me feel it yet again, and this time, the pain was a bit too much.
"What did you want me to do? You and Liam played me like a ball, and then you left without a word. I was heartbroken. I was sad, and I discovered I was pregnant. What did you want me to do? What was I supposed to do?"
Sophie collapsed to the ground, her sobs echoing into the room.
"This doesn't justify you killing my child and not telling me about it. You have killed your child and hid it from me."
I paced across the room, running my hands through my hair. I just wanted to bring out my gun and shoot her right here and now. But I couldn't. I couldn't kill her because I love her, and I can't bear the thought of living without her, but she lied to me.
"I feel guilty about it. I hate myself for doing it, but there was no way I was going to let an innocent and poor soul suffer. I had nothing to give to that child. I can't even love myself. Do you think I'd have been able to love it?"
Sophie is trying to control her sobs as words pour out of her lips. But the tears didn't stop pouring out of her eyes, and I hated seeing her cry. At some point, she's right, but I hate lies, and she looked me in the eyes and lied to me with no remorse about it, and I can't be in the same room with her right now.
"You can go to your house after leaving here. I want nothing to die with a liar like you."
It hurt me more to say this to her, but she lied to me, she killed my child, and she did not even bother to let me know.
I've been dreaming of having children of my own, but she shattered that dream without even caring about my own emotions, and I don't think I'd ever be able to forgive her.
The sound of her sobs followed me as I stormed out of the room, leaving her on the floor crying.
She has hurt my feelings, and I don't see myself forgiving her. I can't forget this betrayal.
"That's so sad. I didn't think your love was so weak."
Before I could step into my car, I was halted by the sound of Liam’s voice. He's leaning against his car from opposite
mine, with a smirk on his lips.
He must be happy seeing me so hurt. After all, that's what he lived for, to see me hurt or broken. Obviously, I won't give him the satisfaction of seeing me so sad.
"What does a loser like you know about love?"
I couldn't stop myself from taunting him. I leaned against my car, crossing my arms over my chest, and threw him a sharp glare.
He chuckled.
“I know a lot about love more than you do. You fell in love with her at first sight, and you must have promised yourself to make her yours. But I'm wondering why you are leaving her now. After all, we played with her, and she was angry. That is understandable. But I think your love was a little bit too weak, or it was never there I.. ."
“Shut the fuck up, Liam."
I didn't let him finish his sentence. I swear if he doesn't leave my sight, I'm going to kill him.
Liam burst into laughter, seeing me seething with rage. I'm sure he must be enjoying seeing me like this.
“It's true. Maybe she was just your obsession, and you just wanted to claim her as yours but never loved her."
Liam didn't stop talking. He walked over to me and stood right before me, and I knew exactly what he was trying to do, which is definitely not going to work.
“Are you done being a love guru, or do you have something else to say?"
My voice is dripping with sarcasm. I wanted to punch him as he was hoping for, but he's not worth it. I didn't even want his dirty blood on my hands, which is why I'm going to let this slide. But that doesn't mean he'll be spared if he tries something else.
