A Chance To Freedom

A Chance To Freedom
23Sophie's Point of View

I've always thought that being lonely meant being alone, but even when surrounded by people, the feeling doesn't go away. It clings to my soul, and I don't think it will ever leave or free me from this unbearable torment.

Lucas's men left me at the mansion with his whole family, and they practically hated me, especially after I tried to kill Lucas.

Leaving me with no other choice but to stay locked in Lucas's room. It's been a whole week, and there's been no sign of him since the day we were attacked.

It feels like I'm trapped in a sea surrounded by sharks, and no matter how much I try to escape, there's no way out. I'm trapped, and it's suffocating.

I sit on the floor in the corner of the room, my head resting on my knee. I'm trying everything to blink back the tears that threaten to burst out of my eyes, but I'm not going to. Crying can't help me right now.

The walls in the room must be staring at me with pity. My thoughts race with a lot of things. My mistake haunts and taunts me all at once, and if I spend another minute alone, I'm going to lose my mind.

For once, I have to admit, I'm consumed by disdain for my own presence and thoughts.

At this point, even dying seems like a better escape, but unfortunately, I'm not a coward. I wish I were. I wouldn't have to deal with life.

I snap my eyes to the door as it swings open, and Lucas steps into the room. His brows furrow as his eyes land on me.

“Sophie, are you alright?”

His voice is laced with confusion. I spring to my feet, walking over to him.

“Who do you think you are?”

I ask, my heart now pounding against my chest. Frustration rushed through me. I've been quiet for far too long; it's time I give him a piece of my mind.

“I think I'm the perfect person for you,”

His voice is laced with sarcasm as he studies me from head to toe.

I ball my hand into a fist, stopping it from trembling with anger.

“Do you think my life is a joke?”

I speak in a raised tone, my frustration boiling over.

“You and your brother played me for a fool, but to you, that was not enough. You took everything from me, and you are trapping me in your life, putting my life in danger. What do you want?”

Lucas lets out an amused chuckle; all this isn't affecting him. He doesn't care about anyone but himself.

“I was honest with you from the beginning, Sophie. I told you that night if you allowed me to touch you, you'd belong only to me, and I didn't warn you about Liam. It's not my fault that you fell in love with that loser.”

His voice is calmer than I'd want it to be. He didn't take my words seriously; he thought my life was a joke.

My nostrils flare. My breath is now ragged and uneven. I take a deep breath, trying to control my emotions.

“You warned me about Liam. Trust me, I'm very grateful for that, but please, let me go. Nothing can ever work between us. I feel nothing but hate for you, okay? Being around you is suffocating me; your presence feels like I'm trapped in a cage, and I hate feeling like that. I hate you, Lucas Smith. Please let me go because I can never love you.”

I can't control my heavy breathing; this is not entirely true. There's a stupid part of me that doesn't hate him, but I hate him. I want nothing to do with him.

Lucas's gaze darkens, his face flushing red with anger. He starts walking towards me, and I take a step back until my back collides with the wall.

He grabs both of my hands, pinning them over my head on the walls, closing the little distance between us.

My body trembles against his with rage. My eyes burn with desire, the one I can't control whenever he's close to me. I hate myself for it, I swear.

Lucas lifts his other hand to my lips, stroking them, his touch sending an electric jolt rushing down my whole body.

“Tell me how much you hate me, Sophie. I want to hear it from these sexy lips of yours,”

He rasps, his voice dangerously low.

I swallow, trying to control my racing heartbeat. I desperately want to open my mouth. Tell him how much I hate him, but my words betray me. They are stuck in my throat.

Lucas lets out a sarcastically dark chuckle.

“I'm giving you a chance to tell me how much you hate me, and I'm going to let you go. But your silence is telling me a whole different story.”

His gaze is right on me. It feels as though he is piercing through my soul, seeing through my little secrets, and I hate how naked I feel in front of him.

So powerless as if I don't have a voice. I had one simple mission to accomplish, but I'm failing terribly.

“Sophie, I gave you many chances for your freedom, but you aren't using them, and this is the last chance I'm giving you. Tell me how much you hate me, and I'm letting you go. But if you remain silent, I'm going to kiss the life out of you.”

His long fingers stroke my lips, our gazes locked, and it feels as though I am hypnotized by these blue eyes. My brain has stopped completely.

“Well, it has been proven that you actually don't hate, but you are still in denial of your feelings, and I'm not holding that against you.”

Lucas's words sound like a mock in my ears, and I want nothing but to wipe that smirk off his face.

But with one gaze from him, I'm already powerless. All my words get trapped in my throat.

Without warning, Lucas slams his lips against mine, his kisses cruel, and he is devouring every little will I had to resist.
