Attack

Attack
22Lucas's Point of View

Gunshots echoed outside the villa where Sophie and I were staying.

Mason, Davi, Max, and I were in a meeting. The four of us exchanged glances making sure it wasn't a dream.

I would be foolish not to know who was attacking me. Over the past few months, I had intercepted nearly five of Don Marco's human trafficking shipments.

He holds a significant position in the underworld and is practically the second richest man after me.

He would do anything to make money, but I remain true to my principles. I refuse to allow him to abuse women and children.

I love money, fame, and power—but only if I acquire them through the right means.

The world sees me as a devil walking the earth, and even Sophie believes this after I faked the deaths of the children at the hospital.

But that's what I hate the most. I despise it when innocent people, especially women and children, are forced into helplessness simply because they cannot defend themselves.

He will not use his power to abuse them while I am around.

I will always stop such trafficking, even if it means making millions of enemies.

I will not stop. This is precisely why I joined the underworld: to become the most powerful person in the world.

I yanked my gun out of my pocket and pulled the trigger.

Max, Mason, and Dave followed suit.

My eyes landed on Sophie, who had just rushed downstairs. Her eyes were wide open, clearly shocked by the sound of gunshots.

“What the hell is happening, Lucas?”

Her voice trembled with dread. Her eyes were wide open, revealing her fear.

It's actually the first time she has uttered a word after weeks of silence. Even when I was at the hospital, she never said anything.

“We are getting out of here using the back door.”

I said, ignoring her question. Right now, I have to make sure she's safe. I'd answer her questions later.

Everyone nodded in agreement with my words, except for Sophie, who stood there trembling with fear.

I understand why she's so scared; this wasn't a life she was used to. However, as time passed, she would get accustomed to this way of living.

“Anyone with the guts to come after us, we kill.”

I grasped Sophie's hand, pulling her beside me as I strode to the bar, which was a few feet away from the dining room.

I pressed the button in the corner of the wall, revealing another door with a long staircase descending downward. It was going to lead us outside.

I led the way, Sophie walking beside me, and the others followed suit.

The five of us reacted outside. Different cars, bikes, trunks, and even helicopters were lined up on the lawn behind my villa. No one knew about this place except the four of us—and now Sophia does too.

“Dave, I'm giving you the responsibility of making sure that Sophie is safe… Protect her with your life if you must, and if you fail to do so, I'm going to destroy your whole clan.”

My gaze was sharp as it locked with him, and he nodded at my words.

I shot a glance at Sophie; she averted her gaze. Only God knows how much she hates me, unfortunately, I don't feel the same way.

I swung open one of the car doors, gesturing for Sophie to get inside. Without a word, she stepped inside.

Dave walked to the other side of the car, swung the door to the driver's seat, stepped inside, and drove off.

“What are we going to do now?”

Mason asked, leaning against one of the cars, toying with the gun in his hand.

A fire raged in my chest. A fire of rage. Frustration. Vengeance.

Don Marco has no right to attack me in my house and scare my woman. I'm simply going to have to show him his place.

“We will go to his warehouse and show him how this game is played.”

A smirk tugged the corner of my lip; he'd regret ever trying to mess with me, especially when he was in the wrong.

“Let's go and spill some blood; it's been long since I sent someone to their grave.”

Max’s voice was laced with anticipation.

I chuckled at his words.

The three of us left the villa on three different bikes.

I'm sure Don Marco must have sent all his men to my villa to destroy me, but unfortunately, most of my men were going to lose their lives, and he's definitely not going to live for another day. I won't let him.

A few minutes later, the three of us halted our bikes, removing our helmets, we hung them on the holder of the bike.

Gun in hand. Triggers pulled. Confidence checked.

The three of us marched into the warehouse, our long strides aligning. As expected, there were no single guards outside, meaning he sent all his men to my villa to finish me off. Unfortunately, he's going to be finished.

“Don Marco!”

My voice was laced with sarcasm as it echoed inside the quiet warehouse.

Marco's eyes widened in shock as they landed on us. As he tried to grasp his gun from the table, I aimed my gun at him and released a bullet, hitting him right in the hand.

He groaned in pain, blood dripping out of his now wounded hand.

How foolish of him to send all his men to me and leave himself with no protection. Did he think he could kill me just like that?

“What the hell do you think you are doing here?”

His jaws clenched, his words coming out through his gritted teeth.

I scoffed. “You sent your men to kill me, didn't you? And now I'm going to kill you.”

I released another bullet, hitting him on the other hand, before I walked closer to him.

“You interfered with my work! Did you want me to sit here like a dude with no balls while you destroy my business?”

“I warned you not once but twice. As long as I'm still your leader, no one is allowed to engage in human trafficking of children and women, but you didn't listen. You left me with no other choice.”

Marco let out a sarcastic laugh, his eyes locked with mine.

“If you kill me today, my brother will hunt you down, and he will destroy your whole clan.”

He warned, and I couldn't help but laugh. I'd actually appreciate it if he could destroy my whole clan because no one deserves such a twisted family. I'd love it if they all die and leave only My Sophie.

“I want to see him try!”

I released the remaining bullet in my gun, shooting him right in his chest.

Max walked over to the corner of the room, he grasped a container which had petrol in it and poured it all over the floor. Mason brought out a lighter from his pocket, lighting it, and he threw it on the floor, igniting the fire.

As the three of us walked out of the warehouse, it exploded in a massive fire behind us; he'd be burned beyond recognition.

I've just declared a dangerous and deadly war; I knew the city was going to be painted red, but I didn't care.
