Chose to Save Him
Chose to Save Him
21Ava’s Point of View
My fate was right in my hand.
Every decision I make at this moment, I'll have to live with it for the rest of my life.
If I kill him and leave right now, I won't be able to live with myself. But if I choose to save him, will I be able to live with him for the rest of my life?
I closed my eyes, letting my tears stream down my cheeks. I'm not a good person, but I won't stoop to his level.
I swallowed the lump forming in my throat, taking a sharp breath. I rushed out of the room, calling for help.
Thankfully, the guards were nearby. They carried Lucas out of the room. Everyone was occupied with dinner, so no one even noticed when we left the house.

It had been an hour since he was rushed into the ward. The door was still shut. I paced outside the hallway.
The thought of him dying because of me made my stomach harden, as if a rock was placed inside, restricting my breath.
But it wasn't entirely my fault. He pushed my limits, and I'm only human. I get angry, and once I get angry, I lose my mind and do everything I can to get rid of the source of my frustration.
“What have you done to Lucas?”
Mason and Max rushed over to me, their once playful expressions nowhere to be found.
“If anything happens to Lucas, you'll see the worst side of me,” his jaws clenched, teeth grinding together. “Mark my words.” Max threw me a sharp glare.
I glanced at him for a few seconds before pacing across the hallway, tears streaming down my face. I was too angry to speak, and the guilt rushing in my veins didn't make it any better. I'd rather keep quiet.
“Sophie, did Lucas do something to you?”
Madison walked over to me, his voice laced with concern, but I remained silent. All my words were trapped in my throat.
The door to the ward swung open, and a group of doctors and nurses stepped out.
“How's Lucas?”
Max asked as he dashed over to them. “He didn't fall into a coma, right?”
One of the doctors flashed a smile. “Don't worry, he's perfectly fine,” she said politely, then turned her attention to me. “He wants to meet his bride.”
I balled my hand into a fist. I knew I'd live to regret the decision I've made, but what else could I have done?
Without uttering a word, I dragged my feet into the ward, which was now left open.
As I stepped inside, my gaze was immediately met with him. He was lying on the bed, shirtless, a small hospital sheet draped over him, and his whole chest covered with a bandage.
My gaze dropped to the floor, unable to face him. I almost killed him because I couldn't control my anger. I lost control once again.
“You had a choice to get rid of me forever, Sophie. Why didn't you?”
His voice was laced with curiosity.
A knot twisted in my stomach, twisting with each passing second I stood at the entrance.
I had a choice. To kill him. To escape his clutches.
Why didn't I do it? Why did I choose to save him and sacrifice my own freedom?
Many questions swirled in my head, but I had no answers to them.
“Do you realize that you are now stuck with me? I gave you a choice, but you chose to save me, and I'm never letting you go.”
His words were loud and clear. I chose to save him, and now I'm automatically his obsession because I'm sure he doesn't even love me. He just wants to satisfy his ego. His obsession, and show Liam how he claimed his wife.
But this is now my life. I can't escape it. I've made my decision. The worst decision ever, and I'm going to stand by it.
“Sophie, come over here.”
Lucas ordered.
I said nothing and trudged over to him. I settled on the chair near the bed where he was lying.
My eyes lingered on his wounded chest more than they should. I almost made the same mistake again, and guilt was rushing down my spine.
What if I had a gun instead? I would have killed him.
Lucas took my hand into his, leaned closer to it, and placed a kiss on it. But I silently sat there, my eyes never leaving his wound.
“You are the only person who's allowed to stab me and get away with it.”
His voice was low, and I wasn't foolish enough not to pick up what he was trying to say.
Had it been someone else, he would have cleared their whole clan, but I don't consider myself lucky because I'm stuck with him.
“Sophie?”
Lucas's brows lifted as he looked at me. My eyes were now on his, no matter how much I wanted to speak. I couldn't utter a word. They were trapped in my throat.
“Sophie, I want you to be mine, and I'm not going to give up. But that doesn't mean I want you to be this silent and timid. I like you fiercely and sassy, not this woman in front of me.”
My eyes were blazing with rage as I stared at him silently. He doesn't have any idea what was happening within me.
All the emotions I've been trying to control were catching up with me. My past mistakes are now haunting me, and he can't understand. No one can actually understand, and my silence was my remedy.
“I will give you a week to pull yourself together, and then we will get married.”
I froze at his words, my heart beating now racing. I thought maybe he might have forgotten about the marriage part, but he clearly hasn't.
