Chapter 26 CHAPTER 26
Chapter 26 CHAPTER 26
SABRINA POV
The second day of the whirlwind leading up to my wedding dawned bright and clear, sunlight filtering through the tall windows of the castle. I stood in front of the mirror in my private chambers, my reflection staring back at me with wide eyes full of wonder and a touch of fear. It had only been yesterday that my father and a small delegation from the pack had arrived, their presence filling the halls.
They came for me. For my wedding and during the evening last night we actually had heartfelt conversations that bridged the years we had been apart.
We gathered in the cozy sitting room after dinner, the fire crackling softly as my father, with his strong jaw and silver-streaked hair, pulled me into a tight embrace.
“My little wolf,” he had murmured, using the old nickname that made my chest ache with nostalgia. Members of the pack, elders like Matheo with his deep laugh and young scouts who had once run with me under the moonlight sat around us, sharing stories of home.
They talked about recent hunts, of how the pack was thriving despite the challenges of the outside world, and of how they had all made the journey to witness my union. I listened eagerly, asking questions about my old friends, about the territories we once roamed freely. My father’s voice was steady as he recounted tales of my childhood, how I had always been the curious one, the one who questioned everything. “You were never meant to stay hidden forever, Sabrina,” he said, his eyes gleaming with pride.
“This marriage… it’s a new path, but one you walk with the strength of our blood.”
The talk stretched late into the night, laughter mingling with serious discussions about alliances and the future. By the time I retired to bed, my heart felt fuller, the nervousness about the wedding tempered by the warmth of my roots. Sleep came in fits and starts, dreams blending images of moonlit runs with visions of walking down the aisle.
Morning arrived with a flurry of activity. Vera and Kate burst into my room like a pair of excited sparrows, their arms laden with fabrics, flowers, and beauty supplies.
“Today’s the day, lady Sabrina!” Vera exclaimed, her cheeks flushed as she pulled me toward the dressing area. Kate, ever the practical one, nodded vigorously.
“We’re going to make you the most breathtaking bride this estate has ever seen.” They had taken charge of my preparations with such enthusiasm that I couldn’t help but smile, letting their energy wash over me.
First came the bath, scented with lavender and rose petals, the warm water soothing my tense muscles. Afterward, they helped me into the delicate white gown that had been tailored perfectly to my frame, flowing silk that hugged my waist and cascaded like a waterfall to the floor, embroidered with silver threads that caught the light like stars.
But the true magic happened with my hair. We had hired a renowned stylist from the city, a woman named Ivy with skilled hands and an eye for elegance. She arrived promptly, her kit filled with combs, pins, and fresh blooms.
Vera and Kate hovered nearby, offering suggestions and adjusting the veil, a sheer piece of lace edged with fine embroidery that would cascade down my back. “You look like a goddess,” Kate whispered, stepping back to admire the result. dabbed at her eyes. “Our Sabrina, all grown up and married into this new life.”
As they finished, I stood there. The weight of the dress and the delicate adornments make everything feel so real. My makeup was light and natural with a soft glow on my cheeks, lips tinted with rose, eyes lined to bring out their depth. The stylist added one final touch: a small silver comb shaped like a crescent moon, a nod to my pack heritage, tucked into the braids. I touched it lightly, feeling a surge of connection to my father and the others who had come.
With preparations complete, Vera and Kate escorted me down to the grand hall where the ceremony would take place. The space had been transformed overnight, there were rows of chairs draped in white and silver, floral arrangements bursting with the same white flowers in my hair, and soft lighting that created an ethereal atmosphere. My father waited for me at the entrance, dressed in a formal suit that somehow still carried the aura of the alpha he was. He turned as I approached, his eyes widening with emotion.
“Sabrina,” Father said, his voice thick as he took my hands in his. We stood together in the quiet hall, the distant sound of guests murmuring and musicians tuning their instruments filtering through. He looked at me for a long moment, as if memorizing every detail.
“I am so proud of you, my daughter. You’ve faced so much, grown so strong, and today you choose this path with open eyes and a brave heart. The pack stands with you, always. You carry our spirit into this marriage, and I know you will honor it.”
His words wrapped around me like a warm cloak, chasing away the last traces of doubt. Tears pricked at my eyes, but I blinked them back, smiling up at him.
“Thank you, Father. Having you here… it means everything.” We talked softly in those final moments, him reminding me of a childhood lesson about standing tall no matter the storm, me promising to visit the pack lands soon after the wedding. The conversation flowed easily, a blend of advice and affection that strengthened the bond we had begun rebuilding the night before.
Time seemed to slow as I waited there with him, my arm linked through his, the anticipation building in my chest. The hall doors remained closed for now, but soon they would open, and my husband would be there, waiting at the altar. I could hear the soft strains of music beginning to play, a gentle melody on strings that signaled the ceremony was about to start. My pulse quickened witha mix of excitement.
