Chapter 24 Chapter 24

Chapter 24 Chapter 24
That night, Harry alongside the head maid had to force me to sleep. Father still lay lifeless on the bed, not moving a finger. The mark Vincent left on my neck still burns with desire but my heart burns for revenge.

There are just these words that keep whispering in my head, telling me I need to do something, but I know it's all a lie.

I am just a loser who can't do anything. I couldn't bring my Father to love me and I couldn't protect him from dying because he needed to atone for his sin right in front of me.

I want him to see me grow into a powerful human, even if it's going to be under another Pack. But even when his killer was right in front of me I couldn't do a thing.

“Princess,” I heard the head maid calling from outside and I quickly stood up to open the door for her.

“I am sorry for disturbing you when you were supposed to be resting.” The head said and continued. “The council came to the Pack house and informed us that the King will be placed to rest in the next two days.” The head maid added.

“Thank you for informing me,” I said and tried to walk back to the bed when she stopped me.

“Also, the Guards are still looking for Vladimir. He will be caught soon and the closest police bureau has been informed” The head maid said and I nodded.

I doubt they will be able to. With the way he left that night, it is as if he had everything planned. And his identity is something I need to check on. All this while I had thought he was just an orphan who had no one but yesterday, I felt something strong. Vincent is not just an ordinary werewolf and Zara couldn't be wrong. He has this aura that makes even Zara succumb to his wolf.

I don't want to jump to a conclusion but only an Alpha can make Zara react that way. The same thing happened with Father and Kayden. They are both Alpha's which is why they could control me.

“Thank you for telling me. I would love to sleep now.” I said and the head maid walked out, allowing me to close the door.

I lay down on the bed and looked at the ceiling. I needed to regain my strength. There is no way I am going to sit around without trying to find out where Vincent disappeared to.

The days passed by in a blur and I woke up early today because Father will be laid to rest in front of everyone in the Pack.

No one could explain the misery behind why his corpse refused to turn to ash. The physician only said the one who stabbed Father must have disguised it that way and to let others see the way Father was murdered.

I wore a black dress and matched it with black heels before tying a black scarf over my head to my neck. No one must find out that I am marked.

My face was bare and I looked miserable. I managed to apply a lipstick balm before making my way outside.

“Princess,” Harry said with a bow and I nodded.

He led the way and we walked to where Father will be cremated. The rain poured down softly and Harry covered my head with the umbrella he was holding. I saw the people making their way to the cremation ground.

The priestess and the council stopped when they saw me. They were also on their way to the cremation ground. It was tradition for them to gather wood before Father would be placed on it. The priestess is here today to control the fire because of the rain.

“My condolences, Lady Sabrina .” The priestess said and I bowed my head.

“Thank you,” I replied and straightened my back.

“We should hear the funeral pyre site.” The priestess said.

On getting to the ground, the people had an umbrella draped over their heads as they gathered around the woods which were arranged in the middle.

Four men bring in Father's corpse and place it on the wood. The priestess walked to the middle, her white dress flowing freely behind her. She stood beside the woods and raised her hand to the sky whispering some words.

When she was done praying, she turned to face the people.

“You can all pay your last respects to the Alpha King Bradva Marcus before he is laid to rest.” The Priestess announced and people came out in an orderly manner to drop a flower.

The Elders and the council members did theirs including Harry. At the end, I was the last person to pay Father respect. When I looked at his face, I didn't imagine it would still be the same. He still looks fresh and I wonder what kind of spell Vincent cast on him just because he wanted everyone to see what he did to Father.

He is a werewolf so how come he is capable of this? I shook the thought away and brought out the lily flower. It was the flower mum loved when she was alive.

I placed it beside his head and walked back to stand with the Pack Members.

The Priestess raised her hand to the sky and this time, her eyes flowed differently. It was silver in colour. She began to whisper some words and I could see her lips moving in sync.

“I won't allow you to bury the Alpha body to ashes when I haven't even paid my own respect.” I heard a
male voice say. The tone was loud and clear for everyone to hear.
