Chapter 23 CHAPTER 23
Chapter 23 CHAPTER 23
I walked towards her and drew her closer towards me. I wasn't expecting Penny to set the place on fire but I understood that she got worried when she didn't see me. If there was a way to communicate with her, I would have let her know if she was to put our plan on hold.
That explains why Vincent was in a hurry to leave. It happened not too long ago if they are just informing him now.
“Thank you for helping me out Penny. I think we have a chance to escape now. Did you get the uniform I talked about” I asked her and she nodded m
“Yes. I managed to grab two.” She told me and showed me the bag she kept the clothes in.
I already said our plan B might be that we will disguise ourselves because Penny can't climb a fence like mine. I can climb the fence but how would I take her out?
Taking out the maid uniform, I can see they are in good shape. I feel bad for letting her steal but I promised to make it up to her in the future.
“Thank you so much Penny. This wouldn't have been possible if you hadn't helped me out. I am also sorry for putting you in a tight spot.” I apologised and she shook her head.
“No Princess. Your happiness matters most so this is easier. It's just sad to know the warehouse I destroyed actually has valuable things.” Penny said and added.
“There is paperwork and new projects the Alpha prince is working on,” Penny told me and my brows furrowed.
“What are you talking about?” I asked her to be sure I didn't make a terrible mistake.
“The Alpha Prince is said to be the one coming with the different bike models and ammunition needed for the Pack. I heard the maid whispering in fear because this is a project he was given by the king to complete and showcase in the next Alpha meeting.” Penny explained and I rubbed my forehead.
“Oh no. I didn't know it would be this complicated. I will take the blame for it, Penny. You don't have to feel bad. And compared to this loss, he actually killed my Father, so no punishment is worthy of his crime.” I said and Penny smiled.
We changed into the new clothes and while everyone was busy trying to stop the fire, Penny and I walked to the main gate of the pack house.
As soon as we got to the gate, the guards stopped us. There were fewer even today, so many guesses were actually right. I hope this doesn't end up like the night I tried to escape with Harry
“Where are you going?” The guard asked us. He was heavily built, over 6’5 feet tall. And he has muscles packed everywhere like a hulk.
Penny tried to step forward but I stopped her. I already have something to say which might sound convincing.
I stepped forward and looked up. At least I have watched how the maid behaves back in the Pack House of Kayden.
“Lady Soren sent us out to the house of her seamstress to get her dress redone because it wasn't what she wanted,” I said, making my voice audible and I think it would be hard for him to recognise me in the dark.
“By this time?” He asked, looking at his watch.
“Yes. We were instructed to go now and come back before daybreak because she needs to wear the dress to an event tomorrow.” I lied, making sure it was the perfect excuse to use.
He didn't look convinced as his eyes scrutinised us.
“Can you try to make a call and check if this is true?” I heard him say to the guard beside him.
The second guard looked at me and drew the Hall guard closer.
“I think you should let them go. You know how Lady Soren is. Let her servant leave now.” The guard whispered but I heard him clearly because of my ability. I heaved a sigh of relief, knowing they won't bother checking our bag again.
“Okay, you can pass.” The hulk guard said and we stepped forward but suddenly, he stopped us and I swallowed.
“What is inside your bag? Open it.” Penny handshakes but I hold it before they realise we are acting suspiciously. We can't open the bag because the clothes and shoes we will be changing into are inside the bag.
“It's Lady Soren's dress and some of her innerwear. If you want me to open it, then I will,” I said and brought forth the bag.
If they know it's what the lady is wearing, they won't check it because it is considered rude and the guard will be punished.
The guards cleared their throats and moved out of my way. “Let them go," he instructed the other guard and we actually left.
The moment I got outside, I held on to Penny's hand. We continued walking and didn't come across any werewolves. In fact, the road seems like a desert but I can't keep working this way.
If Vincent realises I am missing, he will be coming after me and I will be caught in no time.
“Penny. We did it. We escaped” I said, turning to face hee with a wide smile on my lips. I wasn't expecting it to be that easy.
“I know, princess. It's all thanks to you.” She praised me and I rubbed my forehead with hers.
“We will need to use the wood route if we want to avoid getting caught. Then we will find the nearest place to find shelter. Once it's 6 am, we are taking the car” I told Penny
“But miss, we don't have any money,” Penny said and realisation dawned on me but I needed to calm Penny.
“Trust me, I will make this work out,” I said but the truth is, I sounded like a fool.
Am I not supposed to actually accept that money?
“We will find a way,” I said and Penny smiled. We walked towards the woods and continued walking.
I don't know how long we did but when I looked beside me, Penny was already on the verge of collapsing. I brought out the water and told her to drink.
“Princess, I think you should leave me behind and continue walking.” She said in a weak voice and I drew my brows together. It felt as if she was having a high fever which is common to humans.
“I can't allow you to get caught,” I said, shaking my head.
“I will tell them I threatened you to come with me.” She suggested but that is not something I would do. I will never accuse her of such when all she did was help me.
“And you think they will believe that?” I asked her
