Chapter 248

Chapter 248

So let's hug first, then shower and sleep.

At ten o'clock in the evening, Lila stepped out bedroom with a sense of impending doom and knocked on Alexander's study door

Alexander's lazy voice came from inside, "Come in."

She pushed open the door and looked inside first, only to discover that Alexander, sitting behind his desk, was actually wearing a bathrobe!

Lila's eyes widened instantly.

What on earth was this man trying to pull now?

Alexander’s gaze lifted to meet hers, the corner of his mouth curving with lazy amusement, and said ambiguously, "It's so late, I thought Mrs. Sinclair wasn't planning to come anymore."

Lila's mouth twitched.

How could she dare not come?

“Why are you still standing at the door?” he drawled. “Do you think I haven’t waited long enough?”

Lila gritted her teeth, feeling like she didn't have much choice now.

Lila walked in, and remembering that Mrs. Brown was staying in the nanny's room on the first floor, she closed the door behind her.

Although Mrs. Brown probably wouldn't come upstairs at this hour, Lila was still afraid of the what-ifs. If Alexander got too eager, at least with the door closed, no one would see them and she wouldn't have to share in the embarrassment.

She took a few steps toward him.

Alexander’s eyes flicked past her to the closed door. “Why shut it? Is Mrs. Sinclair planning to do something unspeakable with me in the study?”

"Not planning to."

"Then why close the door?"

Lila ignored the question and instead looked at him sincerely. “Honey, if you prefer it open, I can go and open it again.”

Alexander snorted coldly, not responding to that question, but instead reached out his hand toward her, "Come here."

It was obvious he wanted her to place her hand in his.

Lila looked at his hand, hesitated for a moment, but still didn't put her hand in his.

Her clear, bright almond-shaped eyes fixed on Alexander's face, "Honey, why don't you stand up?"

He paused. “What?”

"Don't we need to hug? You have to stand up to hug.”

Alexander didn’t budge. He leaned back slightly, looked at her leisurely and said, "Sitting down, we can also hug."

“That’s not safe,” she countered.

He scoffed lightly, "But I prefer sitting."

Lila showed no sign of backing down, "But I prefer standing."

Alexander frowned and said without hesitation, "You listen to me."

"Why shouldn't you listen to me?"

"Because I make more money than you. Whoever makes more money gets the final say, and when there's a disagreement, we follow their decision.”

Lila stared at him, a mix of disbelief and frustration washing over her, "Why are you so domineering?"

He countered with a question, "You're not satisfied?"

Very unsatisfied!

But when she spoke, she deliberately softened her words considerably, "A little. If we follow your logic, doesn't that mean I'll never get to make decisions in my life?"

Forever only being dominated and ordered around!

After all, she didn't have his family background, let alone his intelligence and abilities.

So she would never make more money than him.

While Lila was lost in these thoughts, she heard Alexander laugh softly, "This lifetime? You want to spend a lifetime with me?"

She instantly snapped back to reality.

Seeing the disdainful, mocking smile in his eyes, Lila realized what she had just said.

She quickly shook her head, "No, I misspoke just now. Please don't take it seriously. I would never overstep like that. After one year, I’ll divorce you obediently, I promise. Don’t worry, I absolutely won’t cling to you!”

Alexander watched her worried expression without responding, his face completely calm, making it impossible to read his emotions.

However, when he stood up from his chair and walked toward her step by step, his slightly raised tone followed, "What if I'm willing to let you cling to me?"
