Chapter 247

Chapter 247

As soon as the words left her mouth, she saw Alexander's face suddenly turn cold. She quickly looked away, playing dumb.

But his steady, powerful voice soon reached her ears. "What I want to say, you must listen to."

Lila was secretly angry at Alexander's domineering attitude.

Listen to that tone!

Bossy, brooking no refusal, even carrying a hint of veiled threat.

Was this Alexander's definition of a chat?

Lila figured that in his world, he probably never allowed anyone to refuse him.

"Fine, go ahead then." Her tone was flat and indifferent.

But Alexander wasn't satisfied, "What kind of attitude is that?"

Lila looked up at him with a smile, "Honey, why are you so hard to please? You want to talk, and I'm letting you talk, so why are you going on about my attitude? What attitude can I have? Just the attitude of obediently listening to you, right?"

"So you're saying I'm forcing you to listen to me?"

"Didn't you say that what you want to say, I must listen to? How is that different from forcing me?"

His handsome face darkened, "Fine, I won't say anything then. You don't need to force yourself."

Lila thought Alexander's idea of "don't need to force yourself" was probably quite different from most people's.

But whatever, if he wasn't going to say it, fine.

All these problems came from being spoiled.

Besides, she didn't need him to tell her what kind of woman he liked.

Wasn't it just Celeste?

That person would come back sooner or later. She wasn't blind—she'd know her when she saw her.

Acting like she was so eager to understand him.

Lila quietly began eating her dinner, not saying another word to him. She looked calm and composed, as if she'd truly lost all interest in him.

But Alexander wasn't so calm.

He was very displeased.

Having dominated the business world for years, he'd never imagined that one day a woman would leave him speechless, forcing him to swallow back the words he wanted to say.

Where did this Lila get such ability?

Alexander couldn't understand it, but he couldn't very well chase after her asking questions either—that would make it seem like he really cared about her.

By the end of the meal, Lila put down her utensils first.

She'd originally wanted to leave the dining room and go upstairs directly, but to avoid giving Alexander a chance to find fault, she reluctantly reported, "Honey, I'm done eating. I'm going upstairs."

"Whatever." He tossed out two words with an indifferent expression.

Lila couldn't care less about his attitude. She turned to leave, but just as she reached the dining room door, she heard him remind her, "Don't forget—the study hug tonight."

Her steps paused.

Lila could only sneer inwardly. Even if she wanted to forget, she wouldn't dare.

Seeing Lila's silence, Alexander pressed, "What? Has Mrs. Sinclair already forgotten?"

"No, I remember."

"Still remembering—seems like you're looking forward to it."

Lila turned around, her almond-shaped eyes full of disbelief as she stared at him.

So whatever she said was wrong?

If she forgot, he'd find fault with her, and if she remembered, she was looking forward to it?

For the first time in her life, Lila felt that being human was really hard.

After several seconds of standoff, she looked away and left the dining room.

Alexander watched her retreating figure and let out a light scoff.

After Lila returned to her room, she briefly felt better in the space without Alexander.

But the relief didn't last long before she started agonizing over when to go to the study to see Alexander for that so-called daily hug.

She couldn't find the right time, because she simply didn't want to go.

Finally, it got quite late and she was getting sleepy, but she still hadn't showered.

She didn't want to shower first and then go play his hugging game. With Alexander's habit of reading into things, if she did that, he'd definitely think she was deliberately trying to seduce him.
