Chapter 160
Lila responded naturally, "Grandma asked me if you also do the housework at home."
He raised his eyebrows slightly and asked with interest, "What did you say?"
"Guess?"
"You said no?"
She tilted her head and smiled at him, "Not telling you."
Alexander pressed his lips together tightly. Lila quickly spoke again, "Oh, by the way, Grandma also asked what you do for work."
"What did you say?"
"I said you're a manager at a small company."
His expression immediately changed. He walked a few steps toward her, standing behind her right side, looking down at her and demanding, "Is this how you badmouth me?"
Lila asked dismissively, "Does this count as badmouthing?"
"That doctor in your town already knows I'm a master's graduate from a top university, yet you told Grandma I'm a manager at a small company. Doesn't that make me sound incompetent? So incompetent that even with a degree from a top school, I can only work as a manager at some small company?"
"That's my grandma, not yours. Does it matter what kind of person you are in my grandma's eyes? You don't even care about her granddaughter, so why would you care what she thinks?"
Alexander snorted coldly and said proudly, "That's different."
Lila had finished washing the dishes. While drying her hands, she asked casually, "How is it different?"
"It's about a man's dignity."
"Then go out now and tell Grandma you're the CEO of a multinational company, that you make tons of money every month, and restore your brilliant image."
Alexander frowned at her, "Lila, why do I feel like you're deliberately trying to annoy me?"
"Am I?"
After the rhetorical question, she deliberately put on a wronged expression, "Honey, you're really being unfair to me. How would I dare annoy you? I'm afraid of you as it is. I'm terrified that once we get back to Island Mansion, you'll settle the score with me, so please don't misunderstand me."
Alexander let out a disdainful cold laugh from between his lips and teeth.
She smiled slightly, "The dishes are done. Shall we go out?"
He looked at her without moving.
Lila didn't understand what he was thinking and prepared to walk around him to leave the kitchen first, but unexpectedly, he directly took a step to block her path.
She had no choice but to look up at him and ask, "What are you doing?"
Alexander didn't speak, but he suddenly reached out to lift her chin and leaned down close to her.
Lila was so startled she quickly stepped back.
Alexander's hand fell empty. Looking at her pale face from fright, he chuckled lightly, "What are you afraid of? Afraid I'll kiss you?"
Lila shook her head mechanically and said cleverly, "I just ate, my mouth has a smell. I'm afraid you'd find it dirty, after all, you're someone who won't even share a cup with others."
When Alexander heard her mention "cup," he immediately guessed she was indirectly bringing up what happened on their first day after getting their marriage certificate, when he threw away a cup at Island Mansion just because she had touched it.
Oh, and he had also said at the time, "Things you've touched disgust me, better to throw them away and be done with it."
Some time had passed since then, but Alexander hadn't expected Lila to remember it so clearly.
Coming back to his senses, his gaze at her deepened considerably, "Lila, I didn't expect that you remember every single thing I say? Tell the truth, do you have some kind of desire for me. Is that it?"
Lila froze.
This was a huge misunderstanding.
She shook her head seriously, "Absolutely not, don't worry. I'm the woman who threw herself at you but didn't interest you in the slightest. I don't have any inappropriate thoughts about you whatsoever. God can witness what's in my heart!"
