Chapter 159
Lila smiled, "That's way more than enough."
Alexander's monthly salary—who knows how many millions that would be?
After answering this question, Lila's gaze fell worriedly toward the kitchen.
She wondered if Alexander actually knew how to wash dishes.
She just hoped he wouldn't break all their dishes.
With this thought, she looked at the old lady and said, "Grandma, why don't you sit here for a bit? I'll go check if he's done with the dishes, and also tell him where we keep the clean dishes."
The old lady nodded, "Alright, go check on him."
Lila got up and jogged into the kitchen.
When she entered, she saw Alexander leaning against the cabinet with his arms crossed, standing there elegantly—not washing dishes at all.
Lila looked at him speechlessly, "What are you doing?"
He replied with just two words, "Waiting for you."
"Waiting for me for what?"
"To wash dishes."
Lila didn't know what to say for a moment.
He really was something.
She couldn't help asking, "Will you die if you wash these dishes?"
"No."
"Then why aren't you washing them?"
He glanced at her sideways and repeated his answer, "Didn't I just say—no."
Only then did Lila realize his first "no" meant he didn't know how to wash dishes.
In that instant, she looked at Alexander with a bit more shock in her eyes.
After a few seconds, Lila actually laughed, "You're usually so capable, how can you not even have basic life skills? You can't even wash dishes? Honey, are you really that dumb?"
She had wanted to mock him.
But who knew, after she finished speaking, Alexander showed no embarrassment at being mocked. Instead, he admitted confidently, "Yes, I'm exactly that dumb. So, our smart Mrs. Sinclair, hurry up and wash these dishes before Grandma comes in and exposes your lie."
Lila couldn't help glaring at him, "How can you be like this?"
Alexander took a step closer, looking down at her, "Like what?"
She moved a step toward the sink to avoid him before speaking, "You can't even wash dishes, and you're threatening me."
"I'm threatening you?" Alexander looked as if he'd heard a funny joke.
After saying this, he looked at her coldly and started tallying up, "Mrs. Sinclair, my hand got burned because of you, and it still has ointment on it. And you still want me to wash dishes? Aren't you being a bit too cruel to me?"
"I'm letting you wash dishes to give you a chance to impress Grandma."
"Did I say I needed this chance?"
Lila was stumped by this remark.
She looked at him coolly, "No, I was just being presumptuous, okay?"
With that, Lila pushed him aside and started washing the dishes.
Alexander leaned against the cabinet, watching her wash dishes while saying with a smirk, "Talking about giving me a chance to impress—in the end, isn't it just to make yourself look good?"
Lila glanced at him while washing, "What do you mean by that?"
"If I perform well, Grandma will only think you have good taste for choosing an excellent husband, right?"
"Exactly."
She went along with his words, then smiled at him, "I didn't expect you to catch on to my little scheme, honey. You're really smart."
Now it was Alexander's turn to be at a loss for words.
How could he not hear the sarcasm in her words?
But whatever, he couldn't be bothered to argue with her.
After a few seconds of silence, Alexander asked again, "What were you chatting with Grandma about just now?"
