Chapter 139
Lila didn't understand why he was wiping away her tears.
Also, he seemed less scary than before.
But her fear of him hadn't disappeared—there was still a faint sense of dread in her heart.
Alexander could tell she was still afraid of him. He bent down, scooped her up horizontally, and carried her into her bedroom with long strides.
Lila looked at him in confusion.
But Alexander remained silent. After entering the bedroom, he placed her on the single sofa, pulled out some tissues, and patiently wiped away her tears until all traces of them were completely gone from her face.
Watching Alexander's patient and careful manner, Lila couldn't figure out what was going on in his head.
Just moments ago he seemed ready to kill her, and now he was being so gentle?
Was it because she cried?
Was he afraid of women's tears?
After Alexander finished wiping her face clean, he stood up from his crouching position, placed his hands on the armrests on either side of the single sofa, and looked into Lila's still-reddened eyes with his deep gaze. "Lila, I agree," he said in a low voice.
She stared at his handsome face up close, completely confused. "Agree to what?"
His eyes seemed to hold so many things—too many to understand.
Lila only heard him say, "I agree to build feelings with you, and only do what married couples should do after you've fallen in love with me."
Her eyelashes trembled slightly.
Why did he suddenly agree?
Did he give in just because she cried?
While she was still suspicious, Alexander's voice sounded again, "But I have one condition."
Lila asked instinctively, "What condition?"
He answered bluntly, "No birth control. Neither you nor I will use any form of contraception."
She pressed her lips together and said nothing.
Alexander continued, "As long as you agree, from now on, I absolutely won't force you to do anything with me unless you're willing."
Lila's almond-shaped eyes flickered as she silently organized her thoughts.
Why would he make such a demand?
Was it to have a child or for the ultimate physical experience?
She couldn't figure it out.
However, if they naturally did that sort of thing after she fell in love with him, then getting pregnant shouldn't be a problem, right? After all, when you love someone, you're willing to have their child.
Today Alexander had compromised. If his compromise couldn't get her to agree to one condition, he definitely wouldn't be happy. If he forced her again in the future, she still wouldn't be able to handle it, or they'd fall into arguments and cold wars again.
In that case, she might as well agree!
"How's your thinking going?" Alexander asked when she remained silent.
Lila snapped back to attention and nodded quietly. "Okay, I agree."
His lips curved slightly. "Good."
"Then can you stop being so sarcastic with me all the time?"
"When have I ever been sarcastic with you?"
Lila didn't know what to say for a moment.
Did he really not know himself at all?
She muttered quietly, "Every single day you're sarcastic."
"Heh." After a light scoff, Alexander straightened up and looked down at her. "This is just how I am."
Lila once again didn't know what to say.
He really was stubborn and set in his ways.
While she was silently complaining in her head, Alexander's warning tone reached her ears as usual, "Our engagement has an agreement—the year isn't up yet, so you don't have the right to bring up divorce. So no matter what happens in the future, don't let me hear the word 'divorce' from your mouth again."
Hearing this, Lila guessed that he had taken note of her complaints earlier when she thought he was going to hit her.
She pressed her lips together and quietly agreed.
At the same time, Lila looked up at him and boldly asked, "Then can you tell me why you went out to eat with Miss Baker?"
