Chapter 115
Lila didn't say anything, but her eyes looking at him were filled with resentment, dissatisfaction, and defiance.
Alexander's expression carried an almost innate arrogance as he sneered dismissively, "Keep looking at me like that, and believe me or not, I'll make you cry right here and now."
Maybe his words actually scared her.
Lila's almond-shaped eyes flickered, and she hesitantly looked away.
Alexander raised his hand and gently touched her face.
His calloused thumb lightly traced across Lila's cheek—if there was any tenderness in that gesture, it was definitely overshadowed by even more cruelty.
Alexander looked at her coldly, "Remember, don't test my patience. If you really piss me off, I'm afraid you won't be able to handle it. Be a good girl, and at least when it comes to money, I won't shortchange you."
Lila bit her lip and said nothing.
Alexander's hand gripping her chin suddenly tightened, deliberately punishing her, "Cat got your tongue?"
Lila brushed off his hand and asked, suppressing her anger, "Are you still going to that business dinner or not?"
Alexander was surprised that she still dared to talk to him like this.
Just then, she even smiled, pretending to be casual, "If a hundred-million-dollar contract negotiation gets delayed because of me, even if you fuck me to death in bed, it wouldn't be worth it."
With that, Lila turned and walked toward the passenger side.
Almost the moment she turned around, her eyes blurred with tears.
She rolled her eyes, holding back the tears.
Alexander watched her back, his expression extremely complicated.
He actually felt like he couldn't see through this seemingly innocent Lila anymore.
She was usually obedient and all smiles, as if she was the most innocent and naive person in the world, but sometimes she was stubborn as hell, with guts so big that even he, someone who'd been in business for years, had to take notice.
Lila could be said to be the only person in all these years who dared to defy him!
And a woman at that!
Alexander couldn't help but suspect that this woman was specifically found by his grandmother to deal with him.
No, to irritate him!
His nemesis! The car door made a heavy thud.
The passenger door was slammed shut by Lila.
Alexander, whose thoughts had wandered, snapped back to reality.
He closed his eyes, suppressing his displeasure, before finally opening the driver's door and getting in the car.
On the road, something inexplicable stirred in Alexander's chest because he hadn't completely put Lila in her place earlier. It bounced around inside him, making him very uncomfortable.
Twenty minutes later, at the hotel.
When Alexander entered the private room, there was a full table of people already seated.
He was the last to arrive.
When the business partners saw him come in, their first reaction was to stand up to greet him, but catching sight of the woman he'd brought along, they couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Sinclair, who is this lady behind you?"
Alexander tossed out two words indifferently, "Driver."
"Oh, so she's the driver. The driver is so beautiful, I thought she was Mr. Sinclair's girlfriend."
Someone sitting at the table chimed in, "Mr. Mason, Mr. Sinclair has kept himself clean all these years, how could he suddenly get a girlfriend? You think everyone's like you, always chasing something new?"
"True, Mr. Sinclair has always been devoted to Miss Phillips." As Mr. Mason spoke, he studied Alexander's expression.
Almost the instant he heard the name "Miss Phillips," Alexander's eyes darkened.
His proud gaze swept over everyone present, his voice chillingly cold, "Are you all here to talk business, or to talk about women?"
The executives looked at each other, too scared to even breathe.
The air was silent for about twenty seconds before someone bold enough stepped in to smooth things over, "Mr. Sinclair, please sit. Let's talk business. We can eat and chat."
Alexander unbuttoned his suit jacket and took his seat. Seeing Lila still standing to the side, he glanced at her, "Come here."
