Chapter 103
Lila Googled several more keywords, but still couldn't determine how serious Alexander's injury was.
If she couldn't figure out whether Alexander's injury was serious or not tonight, even if she lay in bed, she probably wouldn't be able to sleep.
After hesitating, Lila decided to contact John.
On the other end, after John answered the phone, his casual voice came through, "Little rabbit, you're calling me this late, does your husband know?"
"He will know."
"Oh? You need something?"
Lila pressed her lips together and told him what happened, "Alexander got injured, his head was bleeding. I told him to go to the hospital but he won't go. Don't you rich people all have family doctors? Or know a doctor friend? Could you call Alexander's private doctor or a doctor friend and have them come to Island Mansion to check how serious Alexander's injury is?"
John didn't panic at all hearing his friend was injured, instead saying, "Sure, but you have to answer one question first."
"What question?"
"How did your husband get injured?"
Lila didn't know how to answer for a moment.
She was the one who hit him, but was this really appropriate to tell John?
Seeming to notice she hadn't spoken, John soon called out tentatively, "Little rabbit?"
Lila snapped back, "Injured is injured, how he got injured doesn't matter. What matters is checking if his injury is serious or not. Alexander is your friend, right? Your friend's head is bleeding, and you still have time to chat about how the blood got there?"
"Right, I just like chatting. If you don't want to tell me, that's fine. I'm tired, going to sleep now. That's it, bye."
"Wait—"
A light snort came from the other end, "What, something else?"
"His head was accidentally hit by me. Now can you get a doctor to come over?"
"You hit him?"
After the question, John guessed with considerable interest, "He tried to force himself on you, and you fought back? So you hit him?"
Lila was speechless again.
Did he know a bit too much?
She didn't know how to respond to this question, and didn't answer him directly, only saying, "Do you care about your friend's life or not? Hurry up and get a doctor to check on him."
On the other end, John chuckled repeatedly, "Okay, okay, okay, I'll bring someone over right away."
Lila hummed in acknowledgment and hung up the phone.
Thinking that a doctor would come to check Alexander's injury, she finally felt relieved.
Lila went upstairs planning to change out of her pajamas. When passing by the master bedroom, she stared at the door for a moment, unconsciously wondering what Alexander was doing now, whether he was asleep?
Over twenty minutes later, the doorbell at Island Mansion rang.
Lila heard the sound and jogged to the entrance.
After opening the door, she saw John standing together with a fair-skinned young man wearing gold-rimmed glasses.
Must be the doctor?
Lila stepped aside to let them in, "Please come in."
John spoke while walking in, "This is Dr. Harris, he's known your husband for many years."
She looked at Dr. Harris and nodded politely, "Hello, Dr. Harris."
After the greetings, Lila said to the two men, "Follow me upstairs, my husband is in the bedroom upstairs."
John looked at her anxious appearance and slightly curved his lips, "Let's go, little rabbit."
Upstairs, Lila stood at Alexander's room door and knocked.
But no one answered.
She guessed he might be asleep, but John had already brought the doctor, so even if Alexander was asleep, she had to let the doctor take a look.
Thinking this, Lila changed from knocking to pounding on the door.
