Chapter 98 Henry, the Child is Yours

As soon as Henry showed up, Clara freaked out.

"Why you calling security?"

Henry glared at her, his presence making her shake in her boots.

"I..." Clara stuttered, pointing at Diana, "She dissed me."

"Why'd she diss you? There’s gotta be a reason."

Clara clammed up, but some bystander piped up, "She said Ms. Windsor's knocked up with a love child."

"Is this how the Spencer family raised you?" Henry's eyes flashed cold, and Clara's knees went weak.

Henry was pissed, and no one dared to back Clara up.

Then, another voice cut in:

"She must've been out too long and forgot the rules, acting all reckless."

The voice was deep and magnetic, even Diana had to look over.

Gavin, dressed in black, with a cold and dignified vibe, wore thin-framed glasses that cast a shadow on his nose. He had this restrained sharpness and a cold, aloof tension.

"Clara's having a rough day. Not only did Mr. Rodriguez show up, but even the rarely-seen Gavin."

This guy was Henry's older brother, the eldest Spencer, Gavin.

"Mr. Gavin Spencer's a university professor and hardly ever shows up. Today’s a rare sight."

"These brothers are both lookers, huh? Gavin's all refined, Henry's all stern."

Clara never thought even the elusive Gavin would show. She obediently greeted him.

Gavin pushed up his glasses and chuckled, "I'm good, but you’ve turned a perfectly good anniversary party into a mess. Henry might not be so chill."

Everyone's eyes swung back to Henry, who had somehow moved to Diana's side.

Seeing Diana about to bend down to pick something up, he softly stopped her, "Don't move around while you're pregnant. I'll get it."

Diana said nothing, watching as the once-imposing Henry bent down to help her pick up the medicine bottle, keys, tissues, and other stuff into her bag.

People around them whispered.

"What's going on? Could the kid really be Mr. Spencer's?"

"When have you ever seen Mr. Spencer bend down to help anyone?"

"Diana's got some skills, huh?"

Feeling all the eyes on her, Diana instinctively clenched her fingers.

The reporters who had surrounded her didn't dare to get closer but still held up their cameras, the sound of shutters clicking non-stop, afraid to miss any subtle expression on her face.

"Knowing she's pregnant, you still keep flashing lights at her?" Bethany suddenly walked over, "You don't care about your conscience just to get a story?"

Bethany was the most arrogant and reckless, and the reporters didn't dare to cross her, so they all put down their cameras.

Henry had already picked up all of Diana's stuff and handed it to her, "Check if anything's missing."

Diana didn't expect the pregnancy issue to blow up like this.

Her mind was a bit chaotic, and she casually glanced at the items in her bag, "Nothing's missing."

"Let's bounce." Henry took her hand and led her away.

A reporter, not ready to give up, directly asked, "Mr. Spencer, is Ms. Windsor's baby actually yours?"

Henry glanced at him, his gaze sharp as a blade, making the reporter shiver, "Whether it's my kid or not, what’s it to you?"

"You've helped Ms. Windsor many times before, everyone knows you two are close."

Since Henry had never spilled the beans about his relationships, the reporter treaded carefully.

Henry, though, was blunt, "I don't owe you any details about my private life."

"But today’s Apex Global Enterprises' anniversary bash. Aren't you worried that taking her away will stir up drama and hit the company's rep?"

Henry sneered.

"I brought you here to cover the anniversary, not to have a mob hound a pregnant woman and dig into her business!"

"All I know is, she showed up for the Apex Global Enterprises anniversary party today, so she’s my guest."

"No matter what, I’ll protect her."

"No one messes with her on my watch!"

Henry's voice was firm and resolute, making Diana's heart flutter. She looked at his hand gripping hers, broad and warm, making her want to lean on him.

In front of everyone, Henry led her away.

Diana's breath hitched.

Henry didn’t even ask whose kid it was. Just to keep her safe, he ignored what people might think and took her away? How could she not fall for a guy like that?

Everyone was left dumbfounded, not knowing what to think.

Clara's legs gave out, and if Oliver hadn't caught her, she would've hit the floor. The delicate crown on her head fell, just like her, in a sorry state today.

Juniper was looking for Henry. When she heard Diana had a scene at the party, she rushed over, but everyone was still drinking and chatting like nothing happened.

In rich families, pregnancy and shotgun weddings were too common to be newsworthy, and few actually worked out.

Knowing Henry had taken Diana to the lounge, Juniper hurried over.

Pregnant? Juniper's mind was a mess. She knew Henry well; after having Simon, he didn’t plan on more kids and was always super careful. Could Diana be pregnant with someone else’s kid? Was that why they were on a break?

Juniper was all about getting Henry to marry Diana and hadn’t thought about the kid issue.

Thinking Henry might’ve been played, Bethany and the others, worried about getting dragged into it, had already bailed.

In the lounge.

Besides Henry and Diana, there were also Gavin and Lucas.

Diana held a cup of water, sipping it slowly, looking calm. Henry, though, was a bit on edge, tugging at his Windsor knot and instinctively reaching for his smokes and lighter. Remembering Diana was pregnant, he clenched the cigarette pack, almost crushing it, then grabbed a glass of water to cool off.

"Is this what you wanted to talk to me about tonight?" After a long silence, Henry suddenly looked at Diana.

Diana nodded, her voice muffled, "Henry,"

She almost never called him that, always politely addressing him as Mr. Spencer, even in bed.

"Yeah?" Henry responded softly.

"That night at the hotel, it was my first time."

Gavin sat quietly on one side, listening. Hotel? One-night stand? The cold Henry would do such a thing?

Henry responded softly, and Diana continued, "You were my first man, and the only one."

In other words: the kid was yours!

Henry's fingers trembled, spilling the water in the cup.
