Chapter 97 Bastard? I'll Tear Your Mouth Apart
At the dinner party, folks started whispering to each other.
Some of the younger ones were like, "What's folic acid even for?"
"It's a vitamin pill, usually for people trying to get pregnant or already are," someone chimed in.
All eyes zeroed in on Diana's flat stomach. Her slim waist made it hard to believe she was pregnant. With all the gossip about her and Henry, could it be...
Not far off, Oliver felt like he'd been hit by a truck. He'd heard Diana puking in the bathroom and had his suspicions. While others were just guessing, he was almost sure Diana was pregnant.
Clara's smile froze, and her mouth twitched. She'd only wanted to embarrass Diana, but things had gone way off script.
Diana calmly picked up the fallen stuff and walked over to the guest holding the folic acid. "Can I have that, please?"
The person just stood there, stunned, as Diana took the bottle.
Just as Diana was about to leave, reporters swarmed her.
"Ms. Windsor, are you really pregnant?"
"Whose baby is it?"
"Are you taking folic acid to get ready for pregnancy, or are you already pregnant?"
These reporters were invited by Apex Global Enterprises for the anniversary dinner. Now, they thought they had a huge scoop and surrounded Diana, making it impossible for her to move.
If Diana was pregnant with Henry's kid, it would be the biggest news of the year. No reporter would let her go.
Everyone was dying to know the truth, and no one tried to stop them.
In the chaos, Diana's bag hit the ground again, and a sharp-eyed reporter spotted a bottle of vitamin B6 inside.
"Ms. Windsor, are you having morning sickness?" A reporter shoved a voice recorder in Diana's face.
"Whether I'm pregnant or not is none of your business," Diana's smile vanished. "Please move aside."
"So, you are pregnant?"
The reporters weren't dumb; Diana hadn't denied it.
The whole banquet hall went nuts.
The reporters got even more hyped, zeroing in on Diana. "Is the baby Mr. Spencer's?"
"Did Mrs. Spencer bring you to the anniversary because you're pregnant?"
"Are you planning to marry Mr. Spencer because of the baby?"
The reporters' incisive questions cleared up everyone's doubts.
People couldn't figure out why Diana had Juniper's favor. If she was pregnant, it all made sense.
In the first three months of pregnancy, the baby is at risk, so it wouldn't be announced publicly. Everything added up.
At that moment, Clara suddenly shouted, "That's impossible, she can't be pregnant with Henry's baby."
"Morning sickness starts two to three months into pregnancy, and Henry wasn't even in Velvet City then."
"How could she get pregnant from a distance!"
Clara's logic seemed solid. Diana couldn't marry into the Spencer family using a baby!
People murmured in agreement, thinking Clara made sense. And if they looked back two to three months, Diana was still engaged, so...
"Could the baby be Oliver's?" someone speculated, and the vibe shifted dramatically.
Diana's pregnancy left Oliver in shock, and suddenly, all eyes were on him, like he'd been struck by lightning.
Oliver had never slept with Diana, yet he was suddenly being labeled as the father of her baby, leaving him totally confused.
Clara was even more stunned. She'd only wanted to cut Diana off from the Spencer family, but now the blame had shifted to Oliver. Could it be that Oliver had cheated?
The unexpected drama had everyone glued to the scene.
Things were getting out of hand, and the staff couldn't keep it together, so they rushed to get Henry.
When they knocked on the lounge door, they blurted out, "Mr. Spencer, there's a problem outside."
"What kind of problem?"
Henry had been mingling all day and was finally taking a breather with some friends, enjoying a rare moment of relaxation.
"It's Ms. Windsor."
Henry's expression changed in an instant. "What happened to her?"
Everyone in the room turned to look as the staff stammered, "She seems to be pregnant with Oliver's kid."
Bethany nearly choked on her soda. What? Several friends glanced at Henry.
The reporters' focus shifted to Clara and Oliver, giving Diana a chance to slip away. She hadn't expected things to blow up like this and found it both funny and annoying.
"Ms. Spencer, if we follow your logic, this kid is probably your boyfriend's."
"What do you have to say about that?"
Diana was about to grab her fallen bag and make a quiet exit when she heard Clara suddenly say, "The kid can't be Oliver's. They've been engaged for five years, but Oliver hates her!"
The crowd buzzed, finding it hard to believe.
"Besides, anyone can find out she has a terrible rep in Velvet City and has been with many men."
"Nobody knows who the father of her baby is."
Diana paused and turned to look at Clara, who wore a princess crown and held her head high, looking down on everyone arrogantly.
"Why are you staring at me? Did I say anything wrong? Oliver never touched you," Clara sneered.
Diana smirked, "I'm actually glad I never hooked up with him. After all, he's so dirty, I find it disgusting. I just didn't expect Ms. Spencer to treat trash like treasure."
This was Oliver's first public appearance in Evergreen City, and being called trash by his ex-fiancée left him stiff and pale.
Clara had already clashed with Diana in the lounge and was still fuming. Now, she had a new grudge.
"Diana, I've tolerated you long enough! Don't push it!" Clara trembled with anger.
With the Spencer family backing her, Clara had a good life in Evergreen City, and everyone gave her some respect.
Diana dared to trample on her dignity in public.
"Clara, that should be my line to you," Diana chuckled.
Diana was no longer someone to be pushed around. She walked straight towards Clara.
"I am indeed pregnant!"
"But no one has the right to call my child illegitimate."
Diana got close, her eyes flashing coldly, and whispered so only the two of them could hear, "Clara, I dared to send my own uncle to prison, let alone you."
"If you dare to talk nonsense again, I'll tear your mouth apart!"
The others couldn't hear their conversation, only seeing Clara's body tremble and her face turn pale.
Diana continued to warn Clara, "You said I have a bad reputation.I don't mind having a public argument with you, but I doubt you have the guts."
With that, she turned to leave. Clara, her mind blank and emotions out of control, shouted, "Security, stop her!"
"Do you think you can just leave? This is my family's territory, and you don't get to act out here!"
Was this going to be a showdown? The entire banquet hall fell silent.
"Who is this with such a bad temper?" Bethany's voice cut through the tension.
Everyone looked over to see Henry striding in, his face cold. He adjusted his tie, a seemingly casual gesture that instantly commanded the room.
"Henry," Clara's demeanor weakened instantly.
"You've been quite bold in my absence."
Henry's lips curled into a nonchalant smile, and Clara felt a cold dread grip her.
