Chapter 190: Free Yesterday, Busy Today

Chapter 190: Free Yesterday, Busy Today

Cameron knew Quinn sometimes had crazy ideas, but he didn't expect to be left speechless right from the start. "The baby in her belly is already formed, almost six months along."

"If you make Jennifer get an abortion now, that's murder."

Cameron had conflicted feelings about Jennifer's unborn child.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't remember what happened that night when he was completely drunk. When he woke up, all he saw were Jennifer's red, tear-stained eyes and marks on her neck.

The clothes strewn across the floor bore witness to that wild night.

But no matter how drunk he was, he couldn't have been so drunk that he remembered nothing at all.

So Cameron had asked his doctor about it, and the answer he got was that because his brain had been injured before, drinking too much would affect his memory storage.

After a couple more drinks, he couldn't help but tell Quinn about it.

It was a puzzle he couldn't solve - he couldn't figure it out on his own.

After hearing what happened, Quinn was shocked. "That doesn't make sense! Unless you weren't completely drunk at the time, you wouldn't have been able to have sex at all."

Cameron frowned. "You've tried?"

Quinn shrugged. "I don't know, just heard about it."

"But it also depends on who you're with."

"Do you like Jennifer?"

"No," Cameron answered almost without thinking. He was absolutely certain he had never had romantic feelings for Jennifer from start to finish.

Quinn was even more confused.

"If you don't like Jennifer, how could you possibly have sex with her while drunk?"

Hearing this, Cameron thought seriously about this question for the first time.

Before, he hadn't wanted to think too much about it, but now he really wanted to figure out what happened that night.

He couldn't just go ask Jennifer directly.

But he thought of another person - Everett.

When he was leaving that time, he ran into Everett in the hallway.

It happened at the Harper Villa, so it wasn't strange for Everett to be there, but what was strange was that it was past 3 AM - normal people should have been asleep in bed.

Cameron recalled all his interactions with Everett.

He could tell that when Everett faced him, he showed respect, but overall, he was very distant. They never interacted privately.

They were the type who never met privately.

Also, he felt Everett had some kind of hostility toward him.

Though he never knew where this hostility came from.

The next day, Olivia was surprised to receive a call from Daphne. "What's up?"

"I'm giving you a chance to come to the hospital and see Jennifer," Daphne spoke in a tone as if she were doing her a favor. She looked at Jennifer beside her - Jennifer had told her to do this.

Olivia let out a cold laugh. "I was free yesterday, but I'm not free today."

Daphne was furious. "What do you mean by that? Are you still mad I didn't let you in to see Jennifer yesterday? Olivia, why are you so petty!"

"Don't forget, Justin's fate is still in our hands!"

"So if I go see Jennifer, you won't hold Justin responsible for anything?" Olivia calmly interrupted Daphne. "If that's the case, say it clearly on the phone, and I'll come over."

Daphne fell silent.

Olivia knew it - there had to be something wrong with this call out of the blue.

"Of course, if Jennifer really has something to say to me, she can say it on the phone."

Olivia was just saying it casually, but unexpectedly, Jennifer's weak voice actually came through the phone, saying through gritted teeth, "Olivia, it was Justin who hurt me because of you."

"As soon as we find Justin, I'll make sure he goes to jail and pays the price he deserves."

This threat might have worked on Olivia yesterday, but now that she'd talked things through with Cameron and knew what the situation really was, she naturally wouldn't be threatened by Jennifer.

She laughed. "Jennifer, you staged this whole thing yourself, didn't you?"

"If Justin really hurt you, I'm sure the police won't let him go, so don't worry. Just focus on getting better."

"After all, you keep ending up in the hospital like this - it's not good for the baby in your belly."

That last sentence was like a dagger cutting straight through Jennifer's composure.

Jennifer's face darkened as she hung up the phone.

But why would Olivia suddenly care about the baby in her belly?

"Well? Is that jerk Olivia coming or not?" Daphne asked urgently.

"She's not as easy to control as she used to be." Jennifer was thinking about something, then suddenly asked, "How come I haven't seen Everett Harper? Where is he?"

Hearing Jennifer call him "Everett Harper," Daphne's face immediately soured. "What do you mean, Everett Harper - he's your brother! It's one thing at home, but if people hear you say that in public, what will they think?"

Jennifer ignored Daphne's anger. She sent Everett a message, telling him to come over.

Daphne stood there watching, fuming inside.

Why did Jennifer boss Everett around like he was her servant?

Everett got the message and rushed to the hospital right away, bringing Jennifer some good food. He glanced at Daphne. "Mom, I can take care of Jennifer."

"You've been here all day; you should go home and rest."

Thinking of something, Daphne didn't want to stay there anymore either, but before leaving, she shot Jennifer a dark look. Who knows whose kid she really was - just a slut!

She was starting to regret listening to Everett all those years ago and softening up enough to adopt young Jennifer.

A kid in elementary school just wanted someone to play with, but why did she, an adult, go along with it? Otherwise, they wouldn't be in this situation now.

Daphne was lost in thought. When she got home, she discovered they had a visitor.

It was actually the man who had come looking for his daughter that day!

Ralph was entertaining him.

Daphne steadied herself and pretended not to remember anything, acting like it was their first meeting. "We have a visitor?"

The man naturally recognized Daphne. He politely stood up. "Mrs. Harper, I'm so sorry to bother you again. I just wanted to ask..."

"She doesn't know anything," Ralph said this. "If you have questions, ask me."

The man found this strange, but since he was in their home, he could only suppress these odd feelings. "It's like this - I asked the orphanage director again and again, and he said the family that adopted my daughter lives around here, so I thought I'd come ask again. Last time, I probably didn't explain who I was properly and scared you."

Daphne and Ralph exchanged glances. She wanted to know how much Ralph had told this man - hopefully he hadn't said things he shouldn't have.

But Ralph ignored Daphne and continued pouring coffee for the man. "Sir, from your clothes, you don't look like someone who would abandon his daughter."

"Can you tell me in detail what exactly happened?"

"Also, where do you work now?"

Daphne knew Ralph was trying to find out about the man's background. She was also quietly observing - could this be Jennifer's biological father? But he didn't really look like it, did he?
