Chapter 188 Waiting for Olivia to Bring Food

Chapter 188 Waiting for Olivia to Bring Food

When Olivia learned that Justin had actually been to Jennifer's house when the incident happened, she immediately got a headache. "Wait, why on earth did you go looking for Jennifer?"

Justin felt even more wronged.

"It's not like I wanted to go. Mr. Lowe's assistant called me and asked me to deliver a document for Mr. Hayes to sign, so I went."

"The door wasn't closed. I pushed it open and saw Jennifer lying there."

"Of course, my first instinct was to check if she was okay, and then someone knocked me out from behind."

Olivia had known all along that Justin was set up, but hearing this still made her angry.

She called Kurt to ask what was going on.

Kurt sounded confused. "No, Mr. Hayes just asked me the same question, but I never had my assistant call Mr. Harper."

Olivia wasn't surprised, but still wanted to ask.

"Is he still at the office?"

"Mr. Hayes has been working on Mr. Harper's case until now and hasn't even had dinner yet." Kurt deliberately told Olivia this, hoping she'd understand that Cameron cared so much because he loved her.

Olivia let out an almost inaudible sigh. She understood perfectly well what Kurt meant.

"I'll bring him food later."

She needed to talk to Cameron about Justin in person.

Kurt hung up and happily told Cameron, "Mr. Hayes, Mrs. Hayes will be bringing you dinner later."

Cameron was about to eat when he heard this and quickly had Kurt take all the food away.

He even sprayed air freshener in his office, the hallway outside, and the elevator.

"Go, take everything away now."

"But... are you sure you don't want to eat something first? Mrs. Hayes didn't say when she's coming." Kurt worried that Cameron would get too hungry and his stomach problems would act up.

Cameron's face turned cold. "Don't you know what 'dinner' means?"

"She'll definitely bring it soon, otherwise it would be a late-night snack. Got it?"

Kurt thought that made some sense and packed everything up.

Cameron even made Kurt take the stairs. "In case we run into each other, it would be hard to explain."

Thinking of his annual salary and benefits package, Kurt obediently took the stairs.

After Kurt left, Cameron began seriously waiting for Olivia's arrival, while also thinking that, besides discussing Justin's situation with her, he should also talk about their marriage.

But he waited and waited until his stomach hurt, yet there was still no sign of Olivia.

Just as Cameron was about to take some stomach medicine, he finally saw the figure he'd been longing for. He pretended to pull out a document from his drawer.

Olivia carried a thermal food container. She was surprised the office door wasn't closed.

She walked into the office.

"Eat first."

"Let me sign this document first." Cameron didn't look up, but the corners of his mouth were already turning up.

Olivia frowned, noticing something wrong. Her slender finger lightly tapped on the document. "Haven't you already signed it? Do you need to sign it again?"

Cameron paused. He'd forgotten that all the documents in the drawer had already been reviewed.

He cleared his throat. "Just signed it, but wanted to check it one more time."

"Of course, documents I've already signed are definitely fine, it's just a habit to check."

Olivia didn't pay attention to Cameron's explanation. She opened the thermal container. "Are you done now? Better eat while it's hot."

Afraid of giving himself away again, Cameron put down his pen.

"Thanks for going through the trouble."

"It's no trouble."

"Smells really good."

"It's takeout."

Learning the truth, Cameron smiled awkwardly. "Well, that's still nice. You ordered takeout for me. Have you eaten?"

Olivia gave Cameron an exasperated look. "I have."

She handed him the utensils. "Eat while you listen to me."

Cameron was really hungry. He took the utensils. "Okay, go ahead."

"Justin is hiding at Charlotte's place right now. I want to know how the police investigation is going. Should he turn himself in now, or should we wait and see?" Olivia had been thinking about this the whole way over.

She definitely wanted Justin to turn himself in immediately, but since Justin hadn't done so right away and had gone into hiding instead, she wasn't sure if that would have any consequences.

When Cameron took his first bite of the beef stew, he froze, staring at Olivia.

Olivia unnaturally turned her head away, her cheeks slightly flushed.

She didn't think Cameron could possibly know she made it, because she'd only cooked for Cameron during those three years when he was mentally impaired. Since Cameron recovered his memory, she'd never made him beef stew.

"If it's not good, don't eat it. After all, this takeout is just from a fast food place."

"Mr. Hayes is used to Michelin-level restaurants, so there's no comparison."

Cameron took another bite of the beef stew, absolutely certain this wasn't takeout, but Olivia said it was takeout—why would she lie to him?

Seeing Cameron's silence, Olivia thought he hadn't noticed and felt a bit disappointed.

"So what do you think we should do?"

"Let's not rush." Cameron came back to his senses. He'd already finished every last piece of the beef stew. "I'll arrange the best lawyer for Justin. By the way, where's this takeout from? Give me the address, I want to eat it every day."

Olivia's eyelashes fluttered slightly, feeling a bit embarrassed. "On my way here, I randomly found a restaurant and ordered from there. I forgot what it was called."

"Which route did you take?"

"I forgot."

Seeing how Olivia maintained her composure with a straight face, Cameron really didn't know how to respond.

After that, they talked for a long time about Justin's situation.

It went on until after 10 PM.

Olivia yawned several times. "It's getting late, I should go home and rest."

After talking with Cameron, Olivia felt much more at ease, because Cameron had thought everything through for Justin. Even though Justin hadn't turned himself in yet, the situation wasn't too bad.

Cameron grabbed his coat. "Okay, let me take you home. It's too late."

Olivia didn't refuse.

For Justin's sake, she should be nice to Cameron.

On the road, Cameron deliberately played a sentimental piano piece. After preparing himself for a while, he said, "Olivia, even though we're divorced, if you need anything, you can always come to me."

"Just like now, there's no need to be formal with me."

He sighed softly, perhaps recalling recent events.

Especially the day they walked into the courthouse together.

Even now, he still couldn't forget that feeling—it made his heart ache so terribly that he could barely breathe.

"Olivia, if you've given up on me because I forgot those three years, that's unfair to me."

Olivia remained silent. Cameron's voice was tense. "So give me a chance to get to know you again, and for you to get to know me again, okay?"

Thinking Olivia's silence meant rejection, Cameron felt incredibly dejected. He turned to look at her...
