Chapter 187 The Suspect is Justin

Chapter 187 The Suspect is Justin

"It must be the police coming to her door, so she's asking you for help." Everett also saw the caller ID, his expression mocking. "Mr. Hayes, I hope you won't forget that Jennifer just barely made it through."

Cameron frowned and ignored Everett's words. He walked to a quiet spot and answered the phone.

If Olivia were asking him for help, he would naturally take her side.

The reason was simple - he believed Justin wasn't that kind of person.

"Hello, Olivia."

"How is Jennifer now?" Olivia's voice was tense. She had just talked to some police officers about Justin's situation and learned what had happened.

She couldn't reach Justin now and didn't know what was going on.

But remembering that Cameron had gone to the hospital to see Jennifer, she called him.

Right now, he was her only way to understand the situation.

Cameron first explained Jennifer's condition. "She's okay for now. Can you reach Justin?"

"No, normally he should be home by now. I've also called his colleagues and friends, but they all say they haven't seen him." Olivia was very worried. Her gut told her Justin must have been set up.

As for who set him up...

Her first suspect was Jennifer.

But she quickly dismissed it. After all, Jennifer almost lost her baby. Would she really sacrifice her own child just to frame Justin?

If that were true, it would be too terrifying.

Learning that Olivia couldn't reach Justin either, Cameron was certain something had happened to him - most likely, he'd been framed.

"Don't worry yet. The priority is to find Justin first."

"I'll have people look for him."

With Cameron's help, Olivia believed they could find Justin quickly. But she couldn't just sit at home waiting either. She decided to order takeout, then call Sophie to go to the hospital to see Jennifer.

As Olivia expected, Daphne wouldn't let her and Sophie into the room.

Daphne's face was dark. "Olivia, how dare you show your face here? Let me tell you, even if you kneel right here and die at this door, we won't forgive that bastard Justin!"

"Jennifer is pregnant. If something happens, that's two people who could die!"

Passersby didn't know what was going on, but hearing Daphne's words, they all looked at Olivia with contempt.

Olivia remained calm and composed. "Mrs. Harper, before the investigation is complete, please don't jump to conclusions. The police are still investigating."

Sophie shot a harsh look at the whispering onlookers.

"You too - do you even know what happened? You're judging someone based solely on her word?"

Remembering what Olivia had said at the supermarket last night, Sophie brought it up now.

Sure enough, the bystanders didn't know the situation to begin with. After Sophie said this, they felt awkward about staying, worried they'd gotten it wrong.

Seeing the crowd disperse, Daphne was furious. She had hoped someone would film this and post it online.

But now everyone was gone!

"Anyway, you're not welcome here. Get lost!"

Olivia glanced into the room but couldn't see anything. Being a VIP room, it had good privacy, and people outside couldn't easily see in.

She didn't insist on going in anyway.

"As I said, before the police figure out what happened, please don't make accusations. If you damage my brother's reputation, I'll hold you legally responsible."

After warning Daphne, Olivia left with Sophie.

But she didn't leave the hospital directly. Instead, she went to find Jennifer's attending physician, Dean Marshall.

At first, Dean didn't want to deal with Olivia, but after she revealed her identity, his attitude changed immediately. "Mrs. Hayes, so it's you! I'm so sorry - I must not have been paying attention and didn't recognize you."

Olivia didn't want to interact much with these opportunistic people.

"Tell me about Jennifer's condition, and what's going on with the baby."

"Of course, one moment please." Dean brought out Jennifer's medical records and various test reports. Trying to curry favor, he said, "As you can see, Ms. Harper was stabbed in the back. Fortunately, she was brought to the hospital in time."

He paused. "As for the baby, the situation is a bit dangerous."

"Didn't she avoid a miscarriage?" Olivia asked.

Dean hesitated.

Olivia was impatient. "Just say what you need to say."

Only then did Dean speak. "There are complications with Ms. Harper's baby. I'd recommend inducing labor as soon as possible."

Olivia and Sophie exchanged glances, both seeing the shock in each other's eyes.

Then Dean added, "Ms. Harper seems to prioritize herself more. She goes to beauty salons too frequently and uses many products that have a major impact on the fetus."

"She should know this, right?" Olivia asked.

"Of course. Every time Ms. Harper comes for prenatal checkups, I tell her, but she asks me to keep it secret... Of course, since this hospital is invested in by Mr. Hayes, I'm completely transparent with you and Mr. Hayes." Dean quickly said.

Olivia raised an eyebrow. "So you're saying Cameron also knows there's a problem with Jennifer's baby?"

Dean shook his head. "I don't know if Mr. Hayes knows. Ms. Harper said she would tell him herself."

Olivia was certain Cameron didn't know about this. Otherwise, he would definitely have Jennifer induce labor. Having a child with problems wouldn't just be painful for the parents - it would be extremely unfair to the child.

She planned to find time to talk to Cameron about this properly.

The reason was simple - as a mother herself, she didn't want any child to be "sentenced" before birth. Living like that would be worse than death.

Before leaving, Olivia instructed Dean, "Don't tell anyone we were here."

"Of course, of course." Dean nodded repeatedly.

Little did they know, as Olivia and Sophie were leaving, Everett happened to see them.

Everett's face darkened.

Thinking of something, he quickly walked toward Dean's office.

Later, Olivia received a call from Charlotte.

"Charlotte, has Justin contacted you?"

"Olivia, Justin... there are some things I can't say over the phone. Why don't you come over here first?" Charlotte stammered.

Olivia sensed something. She didn't ask more questions and had Charlotte send the address.

Getting the address, Olivia and Sophie drove over.

It turned out that after the incident, Justin had panicked and run to Charlotte, covered in blood. But Charlotte didn't let Justin turn himself in - instead, she had him hide.

When Olivia learned it was Charlotte who wouldn't let Justin turn himself in, she was really angry.

"Do you know what this means?"

"If Justin doesn't show up and there's no progress on the case, the police will issue a warrant for him."

Justin didn't want Charlotte to feel too guilty. He quickly said, "Olivia, I really didn't do it. When I got there, Jennifer was already lying there with blood all over the floor."

That scene made his skin crawl. "Jennifer... she's not dead, is she?"
