Chapter 731
Chapter 731
Stella glanced at Diana, who seemed paralyzed with shock, and approached her cautiously.
"Mom, are you okay?"
Diana clenched her fists tightly.
"Stella, it's fine. Even if we have no one to lean on now, I'll make those people pay. Not a single person who stood on that rooftop today will walk away unscathed."
A sharp, mocking snort escaped her.
"In the past, I was too careful. Always afraid of consequences… afraid I couldn’t handle the aftermath. But now, I have nothing left to lose. It's just a life, after all. Even if I die, I'm taking them down with me."
Diana turned to Stella, her gaze intense.
"Stella, today I'm not saying don't die. I'm saying if we die, it has to be worth it. Even if we fall, then they fall with us. None of them will get to live in peace."
Hearing Diana's words struck Stella like lightning.
"You're right, Mom. You and Dad saved me just in time. Now that I think about it, why should I go quietly? Shouldn't they be the ones to go first?"
Diana hugged Stella tightly.
"You're right, Stella. We need to make our deaths count. We can't just die for nothing."
As they walked back to the Brown family home, they saw a group of workers putting up a fence around the property.
Diana felt uneasy and hurried over.
"What's going on? Who told you to put up this fence?"
For a moment, a terrifying thought crossed her mind—had the company gone bankrupt? Had the bank come to seize the property?
One of the workers recognized her and explained.
"Mrs. Brown, Mr. Brown instructed us to do this. He wants a fence around the Brown family villa and for it to be locked and guarded, so you and Ms. Brown can't leave."
Diana was shocked.
"What did you say? Dorian ordered this? He wants to keep us locked in?”
The worker nodded.
"Yes, Mrs. Brown. That's exactly what Mr. Brown said."
Stella rushed over to Diana, frowning.
"Mom, what do we do? If Dad really won't let us out, how can we carry out our plan for revenge?"
Diana, still in shock, quickly gathered her thoughts. She didn't care about her life anymore, so she wasn't afraid of Dorian's confinement.
"It's okay, Stella. Let's go inside. As long as we have food and shelter, we can plan our next move."
Diana reasoned that being confined was better than having the villa taken by the bank. At least they still had a place to stay.
And she didn't believe Dorian could truly keep her captive. If she wanted to leave, no one could stop her.
Stella and Diana went back inside the villa. Diana tried to keep her composure.
"Stella, what do you feel like eating? I'll make something for you."
Stella wasn't hungry but didn't want to worry Diana. She forced a small smile.
"Mom, some noodles would be nice. Let's keep it simple. I need to rest and gather my strength so we can come up with a better plan."
Diana nodded.
"Alright, I'll whip up some noodles."
Diana headed to the kitchen and soon returned with a steaming bowl of noodles.
They ate in silence, the food tasteless in their mouths.
Meanwhile, Raymond and Margaret returned to Margaret's villa after leaving the rooftop. Liberty had already had dinner and rushed over when she saw them.
"Dad, Mom, are you done with your work?"
Margaret nodded, smiling.
"Yeah, we're done. Have you eaten, Liberty?"
Liberty grinned.
"I have, but now that you're back, I want to eat with you."
Margaret pretended to be stern.
"Liberty, you can't eat again if you're already full. It's late, and eating too much before bed isn't good for you."
Children's digestive systems aren't fully developed, so eating too much before bed can be harmful.
Liberty sighed dramatically.
"But Dad, Mom, I just want to join you."
Margaret looked at her affectionately.
"You just want to be part of the fun. You can sit with us while we eat."
Liberty nodded eagerly.
"Okay, Mom."
Liberty sat beside them. Raymond and Margaret wanted to discuss Stella, but with Liberty there, it wasn't appropriate.
Liberty noticed Raymond's hesitation and asked directly, "Dad, Mom, did Stella really try to kill herself?"
Margaret was momentarily stunned.
"Liberty, how do you know where we went?"
Liberty wasn't embarrassed.
"I heard Dad's phone call and looked it up online. Everyone's talking about how Stella made a scene but didn't actually jump."
Margaret knew it was hard to keep things from Liberty, but she didn't expect her to be so well-informed.
"Liberty, you shouldn't get involved in adult matters."
Margaret was worried. Her own childhood had been marred by the previous generation's conflicts, causing her much pain.
She didn't want Liberty to know too much and be affected in the same way.
Margaret's words made Raymond realize why she was so protective. The old family feud had left deep scars on Margaret, and she feared it might do the same to Liberty.
Liberty pouted and said softly, "I understand, Mom."
As they spoke, Raymond's phone rang again.
