Chapter 71 Scarlett, Timing is Key for Scheming
The next day.
Scarlett was practicing in the dance studio when her phone, placed beside her, kept ringing non-stop. She stopped, walked over to wipe her sweat, and picked up the phone.
It was Blair calling. Since Scarlett and Daniel had already signed the divorce agreement, Blair was no longer someone Scarlett felt she needed to respect.
Scarlett didn't want to answer. She tossed the phone aside and continued dancing.
However, the phone kept ringing, one call after another, like a death knell.
Scarlett frowned and finally answered.
"Scarlett, get to Blossom Mansion right now and take your mother away!"
Blair's angry voice came through. Before Scarlett could ask for details, she hung up directly.
Blossom Mansion wasn't The Wilson Mansion—it was Andrew and Blair's residence, located in the city center.
When Scarlett arrived at Blossom Mansion and entered, Blair was sitting on the sofa with a dark expression, while Alice sat beside her, speaking to Blair in soft, gentle tones.
The two of them sitting together looked more like family.
Scarlett walked over. "What happened..."
Before she could finish asking, Blair suddenly stood up and flung the tea in front of her right into Scarlett's face.
The tea was slightly hot, splashing all over Scarlett's head and face. A few tea leaves stuck to her face, instantly making her look miserable.
"Tell me, does the Wilson family owe you something? Why did we let you marry into the family? All you do is embarrass the Wilson family!"
Scarlett lowered her eyes, her lashes wet, unable to open her eyes.
The servants here all worked for Blair, so naturally they all stood at a distance watching the spectacle, no one helping Scarlett with a towel.
Alice sat there watching, the corners of her lips curling up slightly.
"Scarlett, wipe yourself off."
But in front of Blair, Alice still had to put on a show of kindness. She pulled out a tissue and stood up, approaching Scarlett.
Scarlett reached out and grabbed another teacup from the table, forcefully splashing it at Alice. "I don't need your fake kindness!"
Blair was so angry, attacking her the moment she saw her—Scarlett didn't believe Alice had nothing to do with it.
And Natalia coming here to cause trouble might also be Alice's doing.
Blair was an elder, so Scarlett could only take it from her. But she could take out her anger on Alice—who told her to be so shameless as to come over?
Alice got splashed all over her face, instantly becoming as disheveled as Scarlett.
She cried out, clutching her stomach and falling onto the sofa.
"Scarlett!"
Seeing Alice get hurt and fall, Blair shouted angrily, standing up and raising her hand to strike at Scarlett.
Some tea leaf debris seemed about to get into Scarlett's eye, so she closed her eyes, wanting to rub it.
She didn't notice Blair's movement and reacted a beat too slow, already feeling the wind from the slap.
However, the pain never came.
When Scarlett rubbed her eyes open and looked up, she saw a familiar large hand gripping Blair's wrist, stopping the slap mid-air.
Daniel had arrived.
Daniel's shirt cuffs were snow-white and neat, and the metal watch face showing reflected a sharp glint of light.
Scarlett felt the light might have shot into her eyes, making them sting and burn, making her want to cry even more.
"Daniel, what are you doing? Let go!" Blair struggled angrily.
"What are you doing, Mother!"
Daniel frowned, his eyes sweeping over Scarlett's wet hair and face. Seeing she wasn't seriously hurt, he let go.
Blair was blocked by Daniel, and her anger grew even greater. She raised her hand, pointing at Scarlett.
"Look at what she's done! I invited some friends over today for flower arranging, and she had the nerve to have that damned mother of hers come make a scene at our house!
Right at the front door, crying and shouting that she can't go on living, that her daughter won't take care of her, that she can't survive! I've never been so humiliated in my life! If Alice hadn't been there with me, carefully comforting and consoling me, I would already be in the emergency room with high blood pressure!"
Scarlett had already wiped her face. She looked at Blair with a cold expression.
"I didn't tell her to come. If you find my family embarrassing, you could have just had security throw her out."
Blair hadn't done that, which gave Natalia the chance to find her way to the front door.
As for why Blair didn't have security remove her, it was just because she worried about people gossiping that she was rude and didn't acknowledge poor relatives.
Blair couldn't have it both ways—keeping her good reputation while making Scarlett bear everything else.
"Daniel, listen to her! Right in front of you, she still dares to talk back to me like this. And just now, when Alice came over to show concern for her, she actually pushed Alice down! If something happens to the baby in Alice's belly, can she take responsibility?"
Alice held her stomach, sitting on the sofa looking shaken.
Hearing this, she spoke weakly.
"Mrs. Wilson, don't worry about me. I should be fine. Daniel has doted on Scarlett since childhood. Mrs. Wilson, don't argue with Daniel because of me and damage your mother-son relationship."
Listen to how kind, how virtuous, how considerate of Blair Alice was.
Blair moved in aristocratic circles and could certainly hear the implications in Alice's words, but Alice was carrying the child she'd been hoping for.
Compared to Scarlett, she much preferred Alice, a true aristocrat, to marry Daniel.
Blair immediately glared at Scarlett and pushed Daniel.
"Listen to how sensible Alice is. Don't let her push herself. Hurry up and carry her to the room to rest, and call a doctor to check on her. Alice has her solo concert tomorrow—nothing can happen to her."
Daniel frowned, looking at Alice. Alice's face looked terrible.
"I'm really fine, I can manage on my own..."
She tried to stand up using the sofa armrest, but her legs gave way, and she fell back clutching her stomach, fine beads of sweat appearing on her forehead.
When Daniel had just entered, he had indeed seen Scarlett push Alice, and Alice had fallen onto the sofa.
Daniel stepped forward, but his arm was suddenly grabbed tightly by a small hand.
He looked down, following the small hand, and saw Scarlett with one eye red, the other eye tightly closed, looking at him pitifully.
"Daniel, I think something got in my eye. It hurts so much..."
Scarlett wasn't lying. Her right eye somehow had an increasingly strong foreign body sensation.
It hurt quite badly. She didn't dare rub it herself, afraid of making it worse.
And here, besides him, she had no one else to turn to for help.
Scarlett's vision was blurry, but Daniel frowned and said coldly.
"Scarlett, if you're going to play games, at least pick the right moment! Let go!"
She'd just had the energy to splash water in Alice's face, and now suddenly she couldn't open her eyes?
Daniel's voice was so heavy, so harsh. Scarlett instantly felt chilled to the bone. Her hand gripping Daniel's sleeve let go and curled back.
She thought she was truly ridiculous. Just because he'd stepped in to protect her from that slap, she'd actually taken him for a hero who could save her.
Just like when she was little. But she'd forgotten.
Daniel was no longer Scarlett's protector. Scarlett, you really have no memory at all.
"Quick, Daniel, take Alice to your room! Someone call a doctor!"
Daniel walked over, bent down, and picked Alice up. Blair hurriedly ordered the servants around.
Daniel strode quickly toward a room on the east side of the first floor. Scarlett stared at their retreating figures with stinging eyes.
That room was one Blair had prepared for Daniel.
But because Blair didn't like Scarlett, Scarlett rarely came to Blossom Mansion and had never stayed in Daniel's room here.
But now, Alice would be the first to lie in Daniel's bed.
Scarlett's eyes stung, but she opened them wide.
She wanted to see this scene clearly, to remember it in her eyes and engrave it in her heart.
She thought how good—today, her heart that didn't love him had hardened another degree.
"Get out of the way! You're in the way!"
Blair followed but heavily bumped into Scarlett.
Scarlett staggered back two steps and steadied herself against the wall. Blair had already arrogantly ordered the servants.
"Have her take that mother of hers and leave immediately. So unlucky!"
After Blair spoke, she quickly entered the room.
But Scarlett was led out of the villa by servants, taken directly to the security room at the entrance.
The door opened. Natalia was crouched in the corner, closely watched by two of the Wilson family's security guards.
