Chapter 70 Scarlett, You Are Not That Irreplaceable
Daniel stared at Sarah with cold eyes, showing little warmth.
Scarlett, worried he might do something to Sarah, quickly stepped forward and shielded Sarah behind her.
Daniel sneered and gave a cold command.
"Drag her away!"
Several bodyguards immediately came forward and grabbed Sarah.
"Sarah!" Scarlett tried to help, but Daniel's arm clamped around her waist like an iron vice.
He pulled open the car door and tossed Scarlett inside.
"Daniel! I'm the one who insulted you, come at me! Scarlett!"
Sarah panicked and started fighting with the bodyguards.
But before she could break free, Daniel's car had already sped off with Scarlett.
Inside the car.
Scarlett climbed up from the back seat and fixed her hair, not feeling particularly alarmed.
She knew Daniel wouldn't hurt her—this was a bone-deep understanding and trust built from childhood.
It was like something written into her genes that couldn't be changed.
"Where are we going? I want to get out."
Daniel laughed coldly. "Weren't you going around telling everyone you're not being loved, that you have no sex life? Don't I count as a man? Let's find a place, record a video, and have a good discussion about this issue. I need to clear my name."
Scarlett was speechless.
She thought Daniel was just talking, but then he actually told Otto.
"Go to the nearest hotel."
Scarlett immediately panicked. "That wasn't me spreading those words. Sarah only said that because she was upset you took my opportunity and gave it to Alice. If you're really angry, I'll apologize, okay?"
Daniel stared at Scarlett's anxious face, the anger in his heart burning even fiercer.
Was she that afraid of him touching her?
She'd been standing her ground just moments ago, but the second she heard "hotel," she was quick to admit fault.
He lifted his hand and gripped her chin. "Took away? Zenith Enterprises Group belongs to me. If I want to give the opportunity to Alice, I can. What's the problem?"
Scarlett bit her lip, feeling both angry and unwilling.
If she couldn't get this contract, she'd be three million dollars short of the thirty million she needed. She tried to reason with him patiently.
"But you know my dancing level. Alice can't dance well at all. Mr. Wilson, you're not someone who plays favorites or mixes personal matters with business—otherwise the Star Group wouldn't have developed so well. At work, you've always been fair and focused on talent..."
"Are you talking about me? In your heart, aren't I Daniel with a black heart and rotten liver? Now that you want this job, you're willing to praise me."
Daniel raised his sharp eyebrows mockingly.
Scarlett wasn't deliberately flattering him. She'd worked odd jobs in the Star Group's executive office long enough.
Daniel's work style and attitude were beyond reproach. He had principles and boundaries, never a leader who acted on whims.
But she hadn't expected that all these principles would become worthless when it came to Alice.
For Alice's sake, he could even kick her, Scarlett, aside.
Her heart felt like it was being cut with a knife, but Scarlett still looked at Daniel pleadingly, hoping for fairness, hoping he would change his mind.
"I can guarantee my dancing will be worth every penny and enhance the game. If Mr. Wilson doesn't believe me, you can have Alice and me compete, and Mr. Wilson can see the final results..."
"No need. I already said this opportunity is Alice's. Even if she can't handle it, it won't be yours. Enhance the game? You're just a motion capture dancer. Scarlett, you're not that irreplaceable!"
Daniel cut Scarlett off. His cold words were full of denial, disdain, and contempt for her.
Scarlett felt like a boulder was crushing her chest. She didn't want to say another word to him.
"Stop the car! I want to get out!"
Scarlett turned and yanked at the door handle repeatedly, even pounding on the car window.
"What are you freaking out about!" Daniel pulled her back.
Scarlett lifted her head from Daniel's arms, her eyes red as she stared at him with disgust.
"I'm not freaking out. I just don't want to breathe the same air as you. I'm about to throw up!"
She really felt like she was going to vomit blood from anger.
But Daniel thought she was so disgusted by him that she was about to throw up. Especially the way she looked at him now—gone was any trace of the obedience, admiration, warmth, and dependence from the past.
His chest tightened, his Adam's apple bobbed violently, and he suddenly closed his eyes and shoved Scarlett away.
"Stop the car! Let her get out."
The car stopped, and Scarlett couldn't wait to push open the door and get out.
His car didn't pause for even a second before speeding away.
Thinking of Sarah still at Zenith Enterprises Group, Scarlett hailed a car and went back.
When she returned, Sarah was sitting on the edge of a flower bed at the entrance of Zenith Enterprises Group.
"Scarlett, are you okay? Daniel didn't do anything to you, did he?"
Scarlett shook her head and looked her over, relieved to see the bodyguards hadn't done anything to her either. Then she asked.
"Why are you sitting here?"
Sarah said angrily, "To block that damn bitch Alice, of course. This isn't over. Even if I can't get the opportunity back, I have to give that bitch a piece of my mind and spread her bad reputation here! Can't let her off easy!"
Scarlett pulled at her, an idea forming in her mind.
Just then, Dane came out with Alice.
Alice had tried the dance. She could dance—after all, Thora was a dancer.
But Alice's level was very amateur. Without Scarlett as comparison, it might have been barely acceptable, but with Scarlett's excellence before her, Alice's dancing was simply unwatchable.
Dane felt frustrated, but Daniel had said if Alice could handle it, give it to Alice.
So even though Alice clearly couldn't handle it, she was the future lady of the company. Dane didn't dare offend her casually and could only grit his teeth and accept it.
"Miss Brown, let me know when it's convenient to sign the contract. We'll accommodate your schedule."
Alice smiled and deliberately walked past Scarlett with Dane.
"Sister hasn't left yet? I was just about to sign the contract with Dane. If sister can't get a cab, why don't you wait until I finish signing, and I'll give you a ride?"
Sarah clicked her tongue, ready to tear into her, but Scarlett squeezed Sarah's wrist.
"I have a way to make her give up."
Scarlett said to Sarah without lowering her voice. Alice heard it too and sneered dismissively.
Make her give up? As if.
"Miss Brown, can we talk privately?"
Scarlett looked at Alice. Alice thought Scarlett must be stupid.
Alice smiled. "I'm in a hurry to sign the contract, so I'm afraid..."
Scarlett leaned close to Alice's ear. "What I want to talk about concerns Daniel. If you still want him and me to divorce smoothly, you'd better listen."
Alice narrowed her eyes but followed Scarlett to the side.
Scarlett didn't say much, just opened her bag and showed Alice something.
Three minutes later, Alice walked back and said to Dane.
"Dane, for the motion capture dancer, Scarlett is more suitable. Zenith Enterprises Group should sign with Scarlett according to the original contract. I'm withdrawing."
Dane's eyes lit up. "But Mr. Wilson..."
Alice smiled gently. "I'll talk to Mr. Wilson. Dane doesn't need to report this to Mr. Wilson anymore."
Dane had been dissatisfied with Alice to begin with. Now he could return to the original plan without doing anything, so naturally he had no objections.
He saw Alice off, and fearing things might change, immediately took Scarlett to sign the contract.
