Chapter 137 I Regret It
Tall and imposing Daniel looked intimidating as he quickly passed by the glass wall outside the waiting room, flanked by a group of bodyguards in black suits, heading toward another departure hall.
Scarlett's face turned pale. She instinctively pulled her hat down, tugged her scarf up, and lowered her head in panic.
Just then, the boarding announcement came over the speakers.
Scarlett quickly stood up, grabbed her suitcase, and hurried toward the gate without looking back.
"Mr. Daniel Wilson, all flights to Vesperia board at Gate 3. Mrs. Scarlett Wilson's flight doesn't take off for another two hours. We've had our people block all the entrances and exits, but we haven't found Mrs. Scarlett Wilson yet."
As Daniel strode into Gate 3's waiting area, a bodyguard who had already done a quick search came over to report.
Daniel's face was dark as he walked toward the crowd himself, giving orders.
"Keep looking!"
Daniel waved his hand, signaling the bodyguards to spread out and search. His sharp, hawk-like eyes were already scanning rapidly.
Since the flight didn't leave for almost two more hours, Scarlett must still be here.
But after searching for quite a while, the bodyguards found no sign of Scarlett.
A hint of anxiety crept into Daniel's eyes, and his brow furrowed slightly.
"Mr. Daniel Wilson, could Mrs. Scarlett Wilson not have arrived yet?"
International flights board early, and soon boarding had begun, but there was still no sign of Scarlett in the queue.
Daniel looked at the bodyguard who had spoken and said in a low voice, "Have you checked the restrooms?"
"We already had someone go in and look. No sign of Mrs. Wilson."
Daniel frowned. Just as he was getting frustrated, out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of a familiar tall, slender figure talking to a woman, walking toward the gate.
A flash of anger appeared in Daniel's eyes. He strode over, came up behind the man, grabbed his shoulder, and forcefully spun him around.
The man turned, revealing an elegant, refined face. It was Ramon.
Dark emotions surged in Daniel's eyes, and he threw a punch.
"Trying to take my woman! Ramon, you're asking for it!"
Ramon took the punch to his cheekbone, and his gold-rimmed glasses flew off, cracking into a web of fractures.
Daniel had already pulled the woman in front of Ramon behind him, his whole body radiating anger and undisguised possessiveness.
A bruise formed on Ramon's face. He staggered but steadied himself, then straightened up and pulled his lips into a mocking smile.
"Where is Mr. Wilson getting this from? Mr. Wilson should turn around and check if that's actually your wife."
Catching the mockery in Ramon's eyes, Daniel felt a bad feeling wash over him.
He spun around abruptly and yanked off the hat and scarf from the woman who had her head lowered.
Beneath was a panicked but completely unfamiliar face.
This wasn't Scarlett at all!
Daniel immediately released the strange woman, who quickly retreated to the side as if pardoned.
Daniel turned and grabbed Ramon by the collar.
"Where is she?"
Compared to Daniel's barely contained rage, Ramon's expression remained calm and refined.
"Mr. Wilson said it yourself—Scarlett is your woman. If that's the case, and even Mr. Wilson doesn't know where she is, how would I know?"
Daniel's cold eyes churned with menace.
"Stop playing dumb. You think hiding her will get you what you want? When I want to find someone, it doesn't matter if they hide at the ends of the earth!"
Ramon nodded. "Yes, Mr. Wilson has vast resources. Finding someone is naturally no big deal. But hasn't Mr. Wilson considered that by doing this, Scarlett has made up her mind to leave?
She doesn't want to see you anymore! She doesn't want to be entangled with you. Since Mr. Wilson has already registered the divorce with her, why make such a scene and push her so hard? Mr. Wilson should respect Scarlett's decision."
Daniel knew full well that Ramon wouldn't tell him where Scarlett had gone.
His hand gripping Ramon's collar gradually loosened.
"You're buying her time. So she really is at the airport."
Ramon's expression didn't change. He simply said quietly, "No comment."
But Daniel was too sharp and clever—he already had his answer.
If Scarlett wasn't here but was hiding somewhere else in Shadow City, there would be no need for Ramon to bring a stranger to the airport to create a diversion.
The only possibility was that Scarlett was here.
She really was leaving today, just on a different flight—and most likely that flight had already taken off or was about to take off.
That's why Scarlett needed Ramon to buy time.
Daniel released Ramon and headed out of Gate 3 with his men.
Ramon stared at Daniel's hurried retreating figure and frowned. He looked down at his watch and sighed.
Scarlett was already on the plane to Majestic City. Thinking of Daniel's cold, stern figure just now, Scarlett bit her lip, her heart full of unease.
When Scarlett had overheard Daniel tell Magnolia at The Wilson Mansion that he would never let Scarlett marry any other man, she had felt uneasy.
Scarlett was afraid she'd be stopped today, so she secretly bought another ticket to Majestic City.
She planned to hide out in Majestic City for a while.
Scarlett still understood Daniel's personality. He was such a proud person—if he saw her determination and she treated him coldly for a month, even if he felt possessive of her, he should cool down.
Then when she came back to finalize the divorce, it should go smoothly.
Scarlett had just been preparing for the worst, but she never expected Daniel to actually chase her to the airport with his men.
Right now she kept checking her watch, just hoping time would move faster and the plane would take off soon.
If Daniel didn't find her at the gate, he'd surely turn Shadow City upside down. By the time he couldn't find her in Shadow City either, she'd already be hidden away in Majestic City.
Scarlett's hopes came true—the cabin door had closed smoothly and they were about to take off.
Scarlett completely relaxed. Her tense spine seemed to lose all its strength, and she slumped back in her seat. Only then did she slowly remove her hat and scarf.
She was covered in sweat. She let out a breath of relief, touched her belly, and murmured to herself.
Bunny, I'm sorry. I'm just so tired, so tired. I can't hold on anymore.
I can't let Bunny and Daniel meet, but I promise I'll love you and care for you twice as much.
A wave of nausea hit her again. She didn't know if it was Bunny blaming her.
Scarlett's nose tingled and her eyes grew moist. Her expression took on a hint of sadness and deep guilt.
"What are you thinking about?"
Just then, a questioning voice suddenly came from above her head.
The voice was low and measured, yet seemed to carry the weight of a thousand tons.
Incredibly familiar.
Scarlett thought she was hearing things. She blinked slowly and stiffly raised her head.
There stood Daniel beside her seat, looking down at her.
His eyes were deep and dark, as if churning with huge waves. His handsome face was covered in frost, and his thin lips curved into a slightly mocking smile.
In that instant, Scarlett felt like a rabbit spotted by a hawk. Her hair stood on end.
"You—you—the cabin door's already closed! How did you..."
Before she could finish, a dark shadow loomed over her.
"I changed my mind. You're not going anywhere!"
Daniel coldly cut off Scarlett's words, leaned down, and unfastened her seatbelt.
Before Scarlett could react, Daniel slipped his arm under her knees and, in full view of everyone, lifted Scarlett into his arms.
