Chapter 104: Divorce

Chapter 104 Divorce

Scarlett cried for a while. After venting her emotions, she felt much lighter.

She stood up, feeling a bit embarrassed to look up at Ramon.

With her head lowered, she suddenly noticed the coffee stains on Ramon's chest.

If he hadn't blocked it for her just now, that coffee would have splashed on her. Scarlett felt even more embarrassed.

She looked up, "Ramon, I'm sorry about today. Let me buy you a new shirt and coat."

"Sure, let's go." Ramon immediately replied.

Scarlett froze, not quite catching on.

Ramon pointed at himself, "I can't go back to the hospital like this. You said you'd replace my clothes, aren't you coming to the mall with me?"

Actually, he had his own office at the hospital with plenty of spare clothes, since doctors who work around the clock often spend nights at the hospital.

But Scarlett didn't think much of it and nodded, "Okay, no problem. But Ramon, weren't you supposed to meet an elder?"

Ramon smiled and waved his phone, "I can't meet them looking like this, it would be rude. I'll call and reschedule."

Scarlett felt even more embarrassed. She pointed across the street.

"I know there's a mall just one block over. I bought clothes for James there before, but they don't have luxury brands. If you don't mind, Ramon..."

Ramon interrupted her, "I'm not picky about brands. Let's go there."

"Then I'll wait for you by the road, Ramon."

The mall was just across the street. Scarlett walked to the roadside to wait for Ramon to drive over.

She took out her phone and looked down at Facebook. A car suddenly stopped beside her. Scarlett thought it was Ramon and was about to look up when she felt herself being lifted.

Before she could react, someone picked her up and shoved her into the back seat.

The person who grabbed her also jumped in right after, slamming the car door hard, and the car sped off immediately.

Scarlett scrambled up from the seat and turned to glare angrily at Daniel, who had kidnapped her.

"Daniel! What are you doing now! I want to get out, I have things to do!"

Daniel sat there with a cold expression, completely ignoring Scarlett's protests. His eyes swept over the rearview mirror.

He saw a car pull up behind them. Ramon stopped his car, got out, and stood by the roadside looking around, but he was destined not to find her.

Daniel's thin lips curved into a mocking smile. Only then did he look at Scarlett and sneered.

"Let you out so you can run off with Ramon? Do I look like that kind of generous, selfless man to you?"

Scarlett gritted her teeth, "You're right, you don't. Unreasonable, arrogant, and tyrannical—that's you. At least you're self-aware."

Daniel let her mock him all she wanted, his handsome face unmoved.

"Got any other words? Let's hear them all."

Scarlett felt like she was punching cotton. Her chest heaved as she sat back down.

"Fine, I won't get out. Let's go straight to court then. I paid off my debt today, I'm in a good mood, so I'm treating you to a divorce. I'll even pay the filing fee."

Daniel laughed coldly, "Can't do that."

"What do you mean?" Scarlett frowned and suddenly turned to glare at Daniel.

Seeing how nervous she looked, Daniel clenched his jaw. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a card, and tossed it to Scarlett.

"The card's broken. I didn't get the thirty million dollars."

Scarlett looked at the bank card that had been tossed onto her lap, now broken in two halves. She was practically shaking.

"How did this break!"

"Who knows? It's so fragile, maybe it was a fake card."

Scarlett was furious. She said through gritted teeth, "I set up online banking. I'll transfer the money to you right now."

She took out her phone and had just unlocked it when Daniel's mocking voice came from beside her.

"Are you sure you can transfer thirty million dollars in one large transaction?"

Scarlett paused. There were daily limits on transfers. To transfer thirty million dollars all at once, you had to apply to the bank in advance, which she hadn't done.

She said angrily, "Then have the driver go to the bank now. I'll get a replacement card immediately."

"I don't have time to waste waiting for you."

Scarlett finally saw through it—Daniel was just stalling. He had no intention of taking the thirty million dollars or going through with the divorce.

She suddenly felt like she'd been a fool this whole month, rushing around, completely played and toyed with by him.

Her eyes reddened, "Daniel, you're playing me, aren't you? You never planned to let me go, did you? You clearly agreed, you even signed the divorce papers. How can you be so shameless? How can you do this?"

She had just finished crying earlier, and now with her eyes red again, they immediately looked swollen and bloodshot.

Daniel stared at those angry, desperate, and hurt eyes, feeling as if his heart was being squeezed by an iron grip, making it hard to breathe.

He looked away from her eyes, tugged at his tie, and said.

"You're so desperate to divorce—is it because of Ramon?"

Scarlett said angrily, "Our business has nothing to do with Ramon! Do you think everyone is like Alice, shameless enough to be a homewrecker?"

Seeing Scarlett defend Ramon like this, remembering the scene of Scarlett crying under Ramon's coat earlier, Daniel's temple veins started throbbing.

Daniel suddenly reached out and grabbed Scarlett's slender waist, pulling her into his arms.

He looked down at her, "You get this worked up when he's mentioned, and you say it's not because of him?"

Scarlett smiled bitterly, tears streaming down continuously.

"So not only do you look down on me, but in your eyes I'm also promiscuous. Just like Juno said, I'm a cheap, shameless woman with no moral standards."

Scarlett's sad, grieving face reflected in Daniel's eyes. His pupils contracted, as if he wanted to lock her in the depths of his eyes, imprisoning her there.

His thin lips curved slightly, "In your eyes, I'm no good either."

Scarlett opened her mouth, momentarily speechless. After a long pause, she finally said.

"But you are a cheating bad man. The hard evidence is right there in Alice's belly, you can't deny it!"

Daniel's expression darkened instantly. He had said that Alice's child wasn't his.

But clearly, Scarlett didn't believe him at all.

Fine!

Daniel closed his eyes, afraid he might lose control and strangle her.

But Scarlett suddenly reached up and grabbed Daniel's sleeve. Her face looked terrible, her lips trembling as she looked at him with pleading eyes.

"We don't even have trust left between us. Being tied together is just mutual torture. Daniel, please let me go. Just show me some care one last time, okay?"

Daniel opened his eyes, his gaze unfathomable, making it impossible to read his emotions.

He looked at her eyes full of pleading and hope, feeling as if one shake of his head would shatter her like glass in his arms.

She had always been smart, perceptive about human nature, always knowing how to hit him where it hurt, making him give in.

Daniel suddenly released his grip on Scarlett's waist and said coldly.

"Scarlett, once you're divorced and out of the country, don't come back."

Scarlett lowered her head, two streams of tears falling. She choked out a response, slowly sitting up from Daniel's embrace and moving to the side. After a long while, she finally answered.

"Okay."

Beside her, Daniel's cool voice gave an order.

"To the court."
