Chapter 103 Bad Premonition, Something's Going to Happen to Gloria!
The next day.
Gloria currently had no agency and no agent.
She hadn't even had time to set up her own studio yet, so she called Pearl and asked her to temporarily act as her personal assistant.
Pearl drove over in Gloria's car, and God knows how happy she was.
The star she followed was finally active on screen again!
After getting in the car, Gloria searched on Google, occasionally writing down names with auspicious meanings.
Gloria wished she could give all the best names in the world to her child.
"Ms. Mitchell, we're here."
The car pulled up outside the makeup room. Gloria wore a casual outfit with a long black down jacket over it, along with a black baseball cap and black face mask.
When she got to her makeup station and hadn't even settled in, Maria's voice came from beside her.
"I want this seat."
The assistant next to her said rudely, "This is Mrs. Williams! If you know what's good for you, get lost."
Everyone else turned to look at them. Gloria stood up, removed her mask and cap, and stared coldly at Maria. "What did you say?"
When Maria saw Gloria's face, she felt a wave of chills run down her spine.
It was her! The person Maria feared most in the entire entertainment industry.
Maria suddenly felt the scar James had burned into her skin throbbing with pain.
What she truly feared was James!
"It's, it's you!"
Gloria's lips curved into a contemptuous smile. "What? You want me to give up my seat for you?"
Maria quickly changed her tune. "Ms. Mitchell, I was just joking. Please, sit down."
"Ha." Gloria chuckled softly, her smile mocking.
Maria didn't dare confront her directly.
The assistant was still indignant. "She's just a washed-up Best Actress. You have Mr. Williams backing you up. What are you afraid of her for?"
"Shut up," Maria said in a low voice, afraid Gloria might hear.
If that were really the case, of course she wouldn't be afraid, but no one knew that the real Mrs. Williams was Gloria!
Alphonse urged, "Get the doctor here quickly. There's no time. Start with makeup first."
There was another B-list star in the makeup room, Sophie Baker. When she saw Gloria, she politely stood up to greet her. "Gloria, long time no see."
Gloria nodded at her. "Long time no see."
Compared to Maria's entourage, Gloria's side was much quieter. She asked the stylist to give her a simple look.
She was only here to boost her visibility anyway. The show had someone else they wanted to promote. Sophie wasn't pretty enough, and Alphonse wouldn't want to promote an idiot like Maria. So who was the female lead?
Gloria asked, "Alphonse, who's the other guest?"
Alphonse wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. "She and another male guest had something come up at the last minute. They can't make it to this episode."
Gloria had guessed right—this ticket-puncher had serious backing.
She stood them up at the last minute, yet Alphonse wasn't even angry, just a bit helpless.
If it were any other celebrity, they'd have been blacklisted from the entertainment industry already.
A message came through on Gloria's phone.
Caspian: [Something came up at home. I'm heading back to Crystalbrook first. If you need anything, you can contact Joseph.]
He was quite responsible—arranging everything for her before leaving.
Gloria replied briefly and set her phone aside.
In the air.
A private jet cruised at 30,000 feet.
James looked exhausted but couldn't sleep at all. He'd been traveling between countries recently and had barely gotten any proper rest.
John spoke up. "Mr. Williams, you could rest up before going to see Mrs. Williams. She's been at the nursing home with Vivienne these past few days. Caspian hasn't bothered her either. Even if she doesn't have feelings for you right now, she won't accept Caspian."
James thought about what Caspian had said—that he would launch an aggressive pursuit of Gloria after the divorce. These past few days abroad, Gloria hadn't replied to a single message James had sent her.
"What about that bitch?"
"She's been at Mabel's place the whole time."
At the mention of Maria, James's eyes filled with malice. "Good. Let her relax her guard. Find a chance when she's not paying attention to get her into a car and take her straight to the hospital for an abortion. John, I hope you won't disappoint me again this time."
"Mr. Williams, you've sent my family to a safe place. Mabel can't use them to blackmail me into doing things for her anymore. My life is yours now."
James rubbed his temples. The wedding ring on his hand gleamed. "That better be the case."
He and Gloria couldn't afford any more complications.
Three more days—both the end of the divorce cooling-off period and when the contract officially took effect.
This time he'd signed deals with even more countries. Soon his company would go global, and he'd reach the true peak!
When that happened, he'd do whatever it took to win Gloria back.
'Gloria, give me one more chance. I'll love you properly. This time I won't let you get hurt again!'
Thinking this, he picked up his wine glass to take a sip and refresh himself, but the plane hit strong turbulence and shook violently. His hand jerked.
Red wine spilled all over him, the color so vivid it looked like blood, slowly trickling down his white shirt.
An uneasy feeling rose in James's heart. He suddenly had a bad premonition.
Several times when Gloria had accidents on set, he'd felt exactly like this.
Was something going to happen to Gloria?
No, she was at the nursing home.
The Rivers family had an emergency, and Caspian had flown back to Crystalbrook early this morning. Gloria was with Vivienne. What could possibly happen?
