Chapter 104 The Filming Location is at The Williams Manor, Maria Calls James Husband
The Rivers Manor
This was a traditional estate over a hundred years old, incredibly elegant.
Caspian got out of the car, and the usually composed man quickened his pace.
He walked past the courtyard full of blooming roses, through the tree-lined corridor swaying in the wind, and across the arched stone bridge.
Usually he loved feeding the fish in his spare time, but now he had no time to notice the colorful fish swimming under the lotus flowers.
In the bustling manor, servants bowed respectfully: "Mr. Rivers, you're back."
Caspian's face was stern, his expression gloomy.
His breathing grew heavier as he reached Benjamin's door.
It wasn't until he stepped into the room and heard cheerful laughter that the gloom on his face gradually faded. He slowed his pace, unconsciously straightened himself up, and then walked in calmly.
"Caspian, you're back. I beat you here." A graceful figure appeared before him—his quirky fourth sister, Emily Rivers.
Caspian looked up at the old man on the bed. His hair was completely silver, his face covered in wrinkles but looking particularly kind. He seemed in good spirits, nothing like the emergency described on the phone.
"Grandpa, are you okay?"
"Just took a fall. You know your mother's personality—she had to make it sound so dramatic."
Emily clutched her chest. "Don't even get me started! I skipped a really important variety show today and caught the first flight back. Should've just taken Caspian's private jet. And now Grandpa, you tricked us!"
Benjamin Rivers chuckled. "Then I'll give you a private jet as compensation. How's that?"
Emily's eyes lit up. "Really? Never mind, Dad would scold me again. Caspian needs to fly around the world for business all the time—am I supposed to get a private jet just to go to concerts?"
"If my granddaughter likes it, why not?" Benjamin smiled warmly, nothing like the scary figure rumored in the outside world.
But Emily suddenly thought of something and looked at Caspian mischievously. "Caspian, you haven't been back to Silverlake Springs in years, but you've been there for the past two weeks. Who's in Silverlake Springs? Could it be...?"
Before she could finish, a deep male voice came from the doorway: "Speaking of which, Caspian is at the age for marriage. Mother's good friend's daughter just came back from studying abroad—perfect timing for him to meet her."
A tall servant pushed a wheelchair in. The man in the wheelchair wore a suit and gold-rimmed glasses, looking refined and gentle.
Emily ran over quickly. "Daniel, who did Mom arrange for Caspian? Someone from the Thomas family or the Reid family?"
"Linda Thomas." Daniel Rivers adjusted his glasses and looked at Caspian. "Ms. Thomas will be here soon. Let's have lunch together. You met when you were kids."
Only then did Caspian realize that Grandpa's illness was just an excuse to get him back—this was a matchmaking setup arranged by his family.
"Bad timing. I have plans with someone later, so I'm afraid I can't have lunch with Ms. Thomas."
Caspian slowly stood up. "Grandpa, rest well. I'll come see you later."
His response was flawless, his expression revealing nothing.
Emily stared at his retreating figure and mumbled with her mouth covered: "Caspian still seems uninterested in women. Could he actually like men? No way, he's so proper, and I've never seen him close to any guy. Could he be like our uncle..."
Benjamin slammed the nightstand. "Nonsense!"
Emily knew she'd said the wrong thing and quickly patted Benjamin's back. "Don't worry, Grandpa. Caspian will definitely get married. Maybe one day he'll meet a girl he likes."
Back in the car, Caspian ordered the driver with a cold face: "To the office."
He opened his tablet and switched to a variety show live stream.
When Gloria appeared, he cut off his call with the overseas manager and connected the tablet's Bluetooth.
No matter how many times he saw Gloria's face, it made his heart flutter every time.
Even with just light makeup, when Sophie appeared after her as the finale, Gloria's looks outshone the previous two.
Unlike Maria and Sophie, who were constantly mindful of their image, Gloria fell asleep five minutes after getting in the car.
The live stream comments buzzed:
[Gloria is acting out my real state of slacking off at work.]
[This clearly isn't scripted! What celebrity falls asleep five minutes into a car ride?]
[Look at the other artists maintaining their perfect image. Gloria is so real. And I have to say, even sleeping, the beautiful lady looks gorgeous!]
[Wonder who Gloria retired for. Her husband is so lucky!]
The car had arrived at the office building. The driver carefully reminded him: "We're here."
Caspian waved him off casually, still wearing his Bluetooth earpiece.
The driver fell silent.
Caspian, who usually didn't even have time to watch a movie, was actually watching a variety show!
After the director switched between several shots, they discovered that compared to the others, Gloria's sleeping footage had the highest engagement!
Gloria truly lived up to being Best Actress—whether in acting or popularity, she crushed everyone else. She was clearly just there as a supporting guest this episode, but just by relaxing and sleeping, she immediately topped several trending topics.
Caspian even took several screenshots.
Occasionally the director would cut to road conditions and weather. Seeing this route, Caspian guessed something, and his expression changed dramatically.
Could today's filming location actually be at...?
The car slowly stopped. The camera PD called out softly: "Ms. Mitchell, we're here."
The director cut to a close-up. Gloria slowly opened her eyes, like a lazy cat.
Her eyes didn't have the intensity from filming "Behind the Throne"—they looked cute and innocent.
Little did she know this shot had already made the live stream audience fall for her! They flooded the comments expressing their love.
She was completely unaware. Without eye makeup, she casually rubbed her eyes and mumbled: "How are we here already?"
Obviously, she was trending for being cute after waking up.
But the moment Gloria opened the door, she realized the seriousness of the situation. This wasn't the countryside—this was The Williams Manor!
Why would they film here?
It must be that Maria had made a deal with the director behind the scenes. Because of confidentiality agreements, no one knew.
James, who had just flown back and was planning to make Maria get an abortion first thing, had just gotten out of his car when he realized something was wrong and tried to leave, but it was too late.
He was exposed on camera!
Maria ran toward him, calling out: "Honey!"
James looked up and saw Gloria, who had just gotten out of the car.
