Chapter 93 93
Tears fell from Marise's eyes as she walked close to Liam. She gave him a hug. "My sweet little boy, Liam. I am going to miss you so much. Just the little time I have spent knowing you, you have become a part of me that I don't want to leave. Not even for a second."
Liam, who has been crying for a while now sniffed his tears, hugging her back. "I am going to miss you too grandma." After a few minutes, he walked to Robert and hugged him as well. Robert was sitting on a wheelchair. Liam was able to hug him properly since they were almost at the height.
"I am going to miss you too grandpa." He said to Robert.
Robert parted gently on Liam's back. "Same here little guy."
Brooke also said her goodbyes to Mr and Mrs Leo. They were all at the runway meant for private jets, where an air ambulance was waiting. Nathan didn't want to take any risk with his father's condition. He had just had an open heart surgery. That was why Nathan decided it was best to make use of an air ambulance to transport them back to Silverbrook.
Liam finally went to his father. His tears are becoming more evident on his face. Nathan's heart sank at the sight of his son in tears because he was leaving. He knelt to match the height of Liam.
"Hey buddy. I need you to help me take care of your mommy while I am gone. Also take care of yourself. I will miss you so much." Nathan said, pulling him closer. He pecked his cheeks repeatedly before hugging him.
"I will, daddy. I will miss you too." Liam answered while hugging his father tighter.
"Good boy. I love you so much. I will be back before you know it and I will call you everyday before then." Nathan added. Trying to get the boy to stop crying.
"Ok, daddy. I love you too daddy."
It was finally time for them to board. Brooke came closer and put a hand on Liam's shoulder. While Nathan got up looking at her.
"Thank you for everything. The bodyguards and of course for saving me back at the hospital." Brooke said in a soft voice.
Nathan held her hand before saying. "You don't have to thank me Bee. I will jump in to save you over and over again. I care for you a lot and I would not stand and watch harm come your way." Sincerity lingered in his voice.
Brooke smiled at his words. Which made Nathan chuckle.
The smile was quick to disappear when she asked. "What?"
"Nothing. It is a breath of fresh air to see you smile at me for once." Nathan said.
"Be grateful I smiled." Brooke defended.
"Oh.. I am very grateful for that. It is better than the constant eye roll I get." Nathan confessed.
That got him another eye roll but it was more playful this time around. He chuckled again. In his heart, he was feeling victorious. At least it is progress on his side.
"Goodbye, Nathan. Don't keep Uncle and Aunty waiting. Take care of Uncle Robert and take care too." Brooke said. Because Mr and Mrs Leo were already settled in.
"Take care of yourself and our little boy." Nathan responded. "Bee, can I at least please get a hug?" He requested.
Brooke hesitated for a moment. But she didn't want her son to begin to question why she didn't hug his father. With a sigh, she gave in. Nathan was quick to embrace her but she was eager to pull away from the hug after some seconds.
"I will see you in a few days. Before then, please think about returning to Silverbrook." Nathan said before finally letting her go. He also got into the air ambulance.
Brooke and Liam watched as the air ambulance took off from the runway. She turned and saw two of her bodyguards waiting for them by the car.
"Mommy, I want us to go to Silverbrook with daddy." Liam said.
Some days later
Brooke is sitting in her office going through some files. She had an early morning operation and is now resting in her office. Soon, a text message popped on her phone. Before she even checked the phone, she had no idea from whom it came. She picked up the phone and read through.
Nathan: (Good morning, Bee. I hope you will have a good rest after your early morning duty. Mother and father say hi.) a photo was attached.
Brooke smiled looking at the image of Mr and Mrs Leo. They were having breakfast when Nathan took the picture. She could see a part of the Leos mansion in the picture. She recalled when she used to spend time there, just so she could see Nathan. She shook her head to stop the thought.
Brooke:(Thank you for the photo. It put a smile on my face. Also tell aunty and uncle I miss them so much.)
Brooke sent her response to Nathan.
Immediately, Nathan responded.
Nathan:(They are not the only ones that missed you. Someone else misses you.) image attached.
Brooke blinked once, twice then three times. She was surprised to see Nathan sending his own picture. It was something very unlikely of him to do. Yet there they are.
Soon, a knock came on her door and she gave permission to the person to enter.
It's one of her body guards. He walked in with what seems to be breakfast in a bag.
"Ma'am, the boss asked me to get this for you." The bodyguard reported, dropping the content in his hand on Brooke's table. "He asked if you have had breakfast already and I told him you haven't. He gave a specific order on what to get and where I got it from." He added.
Brooke was surprised to see the logo on the bag. It is from a nine star hotel restaurant that she loved. She was surprised at how he found out that she loves the food there.
She smiled and thanked her bodyguard, who then left the office and went back to his post. That is outside her office door.
