Chapter 92 92
The hospital had tightened their security. They also increased the number of security personnel, since the incident was reported. It's been four days since the motorbike incident.
They tried to trace the motorbike once more. But it turned out the plate number on the bike was fake. So they couldn't do much about it. So, they still couldn't figure out why a doctor was attacked at the hospital.
With Brooke's testimony, the police tried to investigate the West family. But they couldn't come up with any form of evidence that they had something to do with it. The west also denied their claims.
Same thing with the man that came to Brooke's office about the heart donation, David Mark. He was also questioned but all his stories checked. He was nowhere near the hospital that day.
Brooke also went ahead to tell Doctor Patel about Doctor Minal. How she was acting in a questionable manner. How Brooke found her in her office the other night. Probably trying to sabotage the organ waiting list when the organ center called. At the time, Doctor Minal was about to mention a name when Brooke walked in. She could swear she was about to mention Gladis name but the presence of Brooke stopped her mid sentence.
Doctor Minal was put under surveillance but she remained on her duty. Only then, Brooke asked the doctor to be removed from her team. She asked for Doctor Drake to be part of her team instead. She liked the way he assisted her in the last operation she did.
Because of what happened, Nathan and his parents stayed for a few more days in Emberwood. He was not comfortable leaving as it is just yet. He wanted to get to the bottom of it before leaving. But since the motorcyclist was not caught and nothing was linked to the West family. He had to settle on expanding Brooke's security.
Nathan hired more bodyguards for Brooke and their son. He didn't know many people in Emberwood and wouldn't trust them just yet. So he hired the guards from the same agency his own guards came from Silverbrook.
Making the head of his bodyguard from Silverbrook one of Brooke's bodyguards. Because he is the one Nathan trusted the most and had worked with for a number of years.
Nathan introduced the rest of the guards. "They are former marines and they were highly recommended." He said to Brooke. They were all in the living room of the Turners residence.
Brooke was shocked at the number of guards Nathan hired for her and Liam. "Ok Nathan. I saw the surveillance footage and what had happened. I won't lie to you that it really scares me. But four bodyguards, isn't that too much?" She reasoned.
"Bee, I cannot let anything happen to you or our son. I don't have a strong influence in Emberwood but I am starting to build one now. But for now, this is the only way I can try to protect you two while I am away." Nathan explained.
"If anything happens to any of you, I will not forgive myself. Besides, what is the point of having all the money I do, if I can't make use of it to protect my family?." He added a raised shoulder.
"I have asked a private investigator to look into the West family. Before I get answers that I can take necessary majors with, this is my only way to have a little piece of mind while I am away." Nathan said further. He and his parents are finally leaving for Silverbrook brook that day.
Brooke sighed in defeat. "Ok... Fine then." She went back and sat on the chair. There was no use trying to argue with Nathan because he had made up his mind and there was no going back.
"I have started building relationships here in Emberwood. It will take time but I will eventually have my influence here. For now, I just wish you would come to Silverbrook with us. When you are there, my mind would be at ease, knowing my family is by my side and safe." Nathan said, still looking concerned.
"I don't think that is possible, Nathan. My life and my family are here now. My work and my home. It is possible that I was wrong about the West. Maybe what happened has nothing to do with them. It is possible that it is another thing, which I don't know yet." Brooke reasoned.
"Whichever way it is, that means there is danger. As they have not succeeded in achieving their goal. There is the possibility of the person coming after you again." Nathan explained his fear.
" Right." She agreed with his thought. But she was still in no position to go back to Silverbrook. "Either way, this is my home now. I don't have a home now in Silverbrook anymore, remember?" Brooke reminded him.
"About that..." Nathan said with a small smile of accomplishment. "You still do."
With a frown, Brooke asked. "I don't understand."
"You still have a home back in Silverbrook brook. The same year you left, was the same time I bought the house back from the new owners. I have them and offer that they could not resist." Nathan reported. He reached for his phone and showed her a copy of the deed. "I bought it with the hope and belief that someday, you will come back to Silverbrook."
Brooke looked at the copy of the deed and some pictures of her old home. She was utterly shocked. First at the fact that Nathan really bought the house back. Second, he bought it at a really high price, probably without a care in the world.
"You really bought our estate back, for us?" Brooke asked.
"Yes, Bee. It was the least I could do after what I have done." Nathan said with a sign of regret in his eyes once again.
He took her hand before he continued. "All you have to do is say the word and I will transfer everything to your name, Bee. You will always have a place to call home in Silverbrook."
