Chapter 65 65
Brooke: Ryan, what you are suggesting is too big of a deal and would be hard to turn it around. First, I cannot come between your friendship more than I already did. By making you keep my location hidden from the Leos. Secondly, if I was able to keep this from Nathan for now, I don't think I want to keep it from his parents. They are the sweetest and I am sure they are going to love Liam. So Nathan will eventually find out too. Call me when you get back. Make it tomorrow afternoon, because I will be busy with Uncle Robert's operation. We can talk after that.
Brooke then hit send before putting her phone down. She arrived home soon and freshened up quickly and got some sleep before it was time to pick up Liam from school.
It was after she listened to his voicemail, she shook her head. She tried calling him back. But it went straight to voicemail. She then decided to leave him a message.
"That is not going to work." She said loudly. “Why would Ryan suggest doing such?”
Liam's eyes gleaming as he speaks to his mother in the car on their way home from school.
"The weekend is near, mommy." He said excitedly.
"It is, sweetie." Brooke answered with a smile.
"You promised to tell me about my daddy, right?" Liam asked to confirm.
"Yes and I will." She answered him. Although, deep down she felt strange as the possibility of Liam and Nathan might even meet soon.
"What is he like? Is he handsome?" Liam probed.
That got Brooke chuckling. She roughed Liam's hair as she answered him. "We will talk about him on the weekend as promised. Then you can ask questions. All I can tell you now is that he has amazing and loving parents. That is your other grandma and grandpa."
Liam gasped, his eyes growing bigger. "I have another grandma and grandpa?"
"Yes, you do. I am sure they are going to love you and you will love them too." Brooke said with confidence.
"What do they look like? When can I meet them?" Liam continued to ask.
"Weekend." Brooke reminded him. "You have to have a little more patience."
Liam groaned. "Fine. I will wait then."
Brooke still thought about how Nathan is going to take the news of having a child with her. The only way to find out is by telling him but she doesn't want her son to get hurt from his father's rejection.
However, with the way her reunion went with Nathan's parents, she is sure they are going to accept Liam with open arms.
Brooke couldn't help but think of Keren. What happened to her? Did Nathan's parents accept her with open arms? Or are they only being civil with her for their son's sake?
Later that night, Brooke went ahead to review Robert Leo's medical report. She wanted to make sure everything was intact and the nature of his body was ready for the operation in a few hours. She made sure everything was intact and nothing was missing in the results. She then finally went to bed.
Her phone kept ringing at night but it was on silent so she didn't hear a thing.
Early the following morning, Brooke was ready to leave for the hospital. She then noticed multiple missed calls from Ryan. She wasn't going to call back at that time because she already told him she has surgery to attend to that morning. He should call her in the afternoon.
Instead, she called the hospital, while she was in the car already. She wanted to make sure that Robert was ready for the surgery. They confirmed that everything was ready.
Moments later, Brooke arrived at the hospital. She prepared to go into the theater room when she found Marise and Nathan waiting outside the room.
When Marise saw her, she smiled at her. Brooke walked to the woman and they greeted.
"Please, take care of your uncle. I have faith in you." Marise said.
"I will do my best, Aunty." Brooke said with a smile.
Nathan smiled at her as well. She only gave him a nod and then walked into the theater room.
Robert was still awake when she walked in there. She greeted him and introduced the people she was going to work with at the time. With their functions in the procedure.
They first gave Robert general anesthesia before proceeding. There are monitors and different machines monitoring him as they go on with the job.
Brooke and her team worked for five hours to get the heart transplant done. When she is usually done, she lets her assistants close up the wound. But this is a special operation and a special person to her. She decided to do it all herself.
They made sure the heart replacement was done and tested to make sure it was working properly. Brooke began to close up the wound.
As she went on with it, one of her assistants was still curious and he asked. "Doctor Bee, if you don't mind me asking, what is your relationship with Mr Leo?"
"I noticed how they got so emotional with you yesterday. And now, you decided to get all the work done, including the stitches." The assistant doctor asked as he helped her with the items she needed while stitching up the wound.
"The Leo's are old time family friends." Brooke simply replied.
"Oh really! I could have sworn there is more to that. I noticed their son looks a lot like -"
"Doctor, please. We are still in the middle of a job. Let's focus on doing this right and not diverting into personal life issues in the theater room." Brooke was quick to cut him off. Besides, she knew what he was about to say. So it was best to keep him quiet and not take any chances.
Soon, the stitches were done. Brooke monitored Robert's heart beat to make sure everything was working well. When she was satisfied with the outcome, she let out a smile. She could already imagine the look on Aunt Marise's face. The look she will have when she tells her uncle Robert's transplant was successful.
