Chapter 64 64
Marise had a sad and worried expression as her eyes was fixed on Brooke. "I missed them so much and I want to meet them soon. Can we? Are they still mad at us?" Marise asked again. Still looking worried.
"Aunty, they were never mad at you." Brooke defended quickly. Especially because of the way she saw sadness in her eyes. She walked back and held Marise's hand as she explained.
"All they wanted was for me to make another life for myself and From what I see, they succeeded. We moving has nothing to do with grudges, Aunty. Just a fresh start." She explained further.
"I haven't told them yet because they are on vacation. They went for a two week cruise. Their phones are hard to reach but I will try their email later on.."Brooke assured Samantha.
"The cruise must be for Sam's birthday and their wedding anniversary, right?" Marise asked with a smile.
Brooke confirmed Marise was right.
Marise chuckled. I recall when they went on a dinner date for their anniversary and you got stuck with us. Those were great times and I love having you over." She added.
Brooke smiled and nodded her head. She also recalled those days. However, her favorite part of getting stuck with the Leos was Nathan. She wanted to be with him and that was why she would ask her parents to take her there, rather than a babysitter.
Another yawn escaped her mouth. "Aunty, uncle, I am sorry but I think I should go now. We have a busy day tomorrow and I need some rest." Brooke said getting up. "I will make sure to forward your message to my parents as soon as I can."
"Thank you, sweetie." Marise said and waved at Brooke with a genuine smile.
"See you tomorrow, dear." Robert called after in a weak voice. He also had a smile he could form at that moment.
"Thank you, Bee." Nathan also said.
Brooke nodded without looking his way as she stepped out of the room.
Nathan Followed her immediately. "Hey, Bee. Wait up." He called out and rushed to her.
"It's Doctor Bee to you." Brooke said, when he cut up to her.
"Sorry, I forgot. Doctor Bee. You can, however , call me Nathan." Nathan offered as they walked side by side.
Brooke yawned again. "I'd rather stick to Mr Leo, Mr Leo." She said,
"You said we could talk. I thought we were going to do that now." Nathan asked.
"I did but right now, I am too tired." She yawned again. "Perhaps after the surgery?" She suggested.
"Alright. I will wait." Nathan said. "For now, let me give you a ride home." He offered.
Brooke stopped in her tracks and turned to look at him. "Home?" She repeated with a frown. "Why would you? I don't think that is a good Idea." She concluded and resumed her steps.
Nathan also continued to walk by her side. "Why is that a problem? Is it because of Liam?" He asked in a low voice.
Brooke chuckled inwardly. 'Only if he knows.' she thought. But at the moment, that is a good excuse to remove herself from Nathan's situation. "Yes, you are right. It's because of Liam." She confirmed.
"Sounds like he is so protective of you." Nathan suggested.
"You are right. He is. He loves me so much and I do too. More than life itself." Brooke said.
She noticed how Nathan became quiet after her statement. His mouth opened and closed but no words came out of it. He also looked pale and lost in thought
His fast pace is reduced as they are no longer walking side by side. But he is now behind her.
'Is he jealous? Why does he look like he is hurt?' Brooke thought to herself. Another yawn escaped her mouth.
It was already eleven thirty in the morning. Brooke really needed to get some rest. Later in the day, she has to go pick Liam from school.
"Mr Leo, I really have to go now. But I promise tomorrow we can have that talk." Brooke assured him.
She finally left and Nathan had no much choice but to go back. Since she promised to have a talk with him the next day, he will. Have to wait.
Earlier, somewhere in Europe. Ryan was walking in a direction towards the airplane. He dialed Brooke's number from the nth time, after receiving her text. But it kept going to voicemail.
When he received Brooke's text message, he was surprised by the content of the message. He was still supposed to be in Europe for another month but at that moment, he couldn't stay.
The text message was the reason he had to end his business trip prematurely. He then ran back to Emberwood.
"Damn it! Why is she not picking?"Ryan said in anger. Since she wasn't answering, he decided to leave Brooke a voicemail.
Hey Bee, I have been trying to reach you but I can't get a hold of you. I guess you must be busy with work.
He said the first part real quick.
About Nathan, now listening to me. WE can still make it work as it is. All you have to do is to tell Nathan that I am Liam's father. We can tell him that after you got the divorce and left the city, we dated for a while. He doesn't have to know the truth. I think I should tell him myself. I am on my way now. I will see you soon, bye.
Ryan then forwards the voice mail to Brooke. He hoped the plan he has is going to work as he has thought it would. He hoped Nathan would fall for it.
Brooke was on her way home when she checked her phone. She saw several missed calls from Ryan and a text message too.
The text message read:
Ryan: Just think about it, Bee. I think it is going to work.
"What is Ryan talking about? What is going to work?" She asked herself. At the same time, she then saw a voicemail from him and played it. A frown formed on her face.
