Nathan is walking back and forth in a secluded area in the hospital. He arrived but Keren was still In the emergency room with the doctors. His phone is on the phone.
"I want you to investigate Keren Williams. This time around , I want a full background check on her. Her whole history." Nathan spoke on the phone.
"I will start that right away sir." A man answered from the other end of the phone.
After what had happened to Keren at the club, Nathan had a private investigator. He wanted to find the guys who assaulted her that night. But since Keren insisted on Nathan to not investigate it, he didn't let her know he was on to the guys.
"What have you gotten about the guys that assaulted her?" Nathan asked.
"Nothing tangled so far. But we are getting somewhere. Some of the buildings close to the club are acting differently. They are not not cooperating in sharing their surveillance footage but I will get to them soon. Although there is something you need to know. Miss Williams said she was all alone outside the club. But from what I have gotten so far, she wasn't alone. She was with some group of teenage boys right outside the club." The investigator revealed.
What Keren told Nathan was that she left the club by herself and walked for a long time in an attempt to find a taxi.
"Ok. Look into it all and get back at me.i need you to forward the footage to me and the police so that they will reopen the case. I will be waiting and I don't want it to take too long to get something more tangible." Nathan said before ending the call.
At first, all Nathan wanted to do was to bring those who assaulted Keren to justice. But now, he is starting to think there is more to her story with everything he is finding out about her.
'What if she was faking it?' he thought in silence. But then the bruises and cuts she got were real. He is confused on what to think. He just has to wait for his private investigator to get back to him with the results.
When he was done with the call, Nathan walked to the room where Keren was taken from the emergency room. A doctor came out of the room the same time Nathan approached.
"Mr Leo, the patient is resting now. It seems she didn't lose a lot of blood. Thanks to those that brought her to the hospital on time." The doctor began explaining.
"You should know, it is very common with assaulted victims to attempt suicide, due to the trauma they are in. It is also good that Miss Williams doesn't live alone. She is not in a position to be on her own."
"I will check on her tomorrow but for now, she needs to rest. So try not to wake her from sleep and don't let anyone do so either." The doctor finished speaking before walking away.
Nathan thanked the doctor before walking into the room. There she was sleeping, looking all innocent. Her wrist has a bandaid on.
Nathan waited and waited. He wasn't going anywhere until Keren woke up and answered him.
After three hours, Keren finally wakes up. She looked at her wrist and then looked around until her eyes set on Nathan, who was sitting on a chair.
Keren immediately turned her back to him before speaking. "You should have let me just die in peace, Nathan." She sniffed and continuously wiped her tears away without looking at Nathan's direction.
"This is happening all because of you, Nathan. I left my whole life back in my city and followed you here. Only for your father to separate us and then Brooke came between us. You left me at a club because of her and this happened to me. Don't you realize that this is all your fault? Now I am trying to find comfort in you but you will not even answer my call. I am suffering, Nathan -"
"Is it my fault though?" Nathan interrupted her. His voice raised a little, which startled Keren a little. That was not the reaction she was expecting from him.
She turned to face him.
"You know, I have always believed I was the one who wronged you. I felt it was my fault that you find yourself in an unwanted predicament. But right now, I am rethinking all that." Nathan said.
That got Brooke's attention. "Wha- what do you mean?" She stuttered.
Nathan shook his head. He clenched his fist in an attempt to control the anger that was rising within him.
"Today, I received an important email. Before I could have the chance to go through it, I deleted it. Then I went to back it up from the cloud. Guess what else I found there."
Keren's eyes widened in horror. She was really cut off guard by the revelation. Her lips trembled as no words were formed from her. 'How dumb of me to forget about the cloud backup.' she thought to herself. This happened almost two months ago, but It decided to backfire now.
"Do you have something to tell me, Keren?" Nathan asked. His expression remained stone cold.
'He has no proof that I did anything. Maybe I will just deny it.' Keren thought inwardly. She began to shake her head side to side.
Nathan began scrolling on his phone. He then turned the screen to Keren's view.
"This was taken in your apartment when I spent the night there. It is obvious you did that. But that is not all. You had to write to her what would definitely make her angry. What is your gain in that?"
"I thought Brooke was over reacting over nothing. But according to her text to you, you have been doing that for a while. Why, Keren? Why?" Nathan asked.
"What were you planning to get out of it?"
"I ..... I am... Nathan, I was-" Keren began, even though she was not sure how to get herself out of the situation.
"And don't think I didn't know about how you made Brooke believe that we are leaving together. Why on earth would you say that to her?" Nathan added, his voice getting louder and more angry.
