Chapter 365 Does a Scumbag Deserve to Mention Mercy
"If you know what's good for you, hand over the money right now. If I'm not satisfied, don't expect to have an easy time either."
Hayden plopped down on the sofa, crossing his legs and looking at Sophia with an air of superiority.
Sophia stared at him with icy eyes, as if looking at a dead man.
"Fine, then I'd like to see how exactly you plan to make my life difficult."
Sophia sat down on the sofa across from him, a faint smile playing at the corners of her lips.
For a moment, Hayden actually saw a shadow of Maddox in Sophia.
His face darkened, and his eyes were full of disgust as he looked at Sophia. "I should have held you underwater and drowned you back then."
No wonder they shared blood—the way Sophia's eyes looked at him was exactly like Maddox's.
Years ago, he had gone to the Smith Villa to ask for Olivia's hand in marriage.
But Maddox had only looked down at him from above, saying that a poor man like him dared to covet a young lady from the Smith family.
Although Maddox hadn't made any threats, the way he looked at him was like looking at a rat in a gutter.
As if he were something filthy and disgusting, not even worth a second glance.
He had remembered the way Maddox looked at him for most of his life.
He never imagined that one day he would see that same look in Sophia's eyes.
His hands clenched tightly into fists, his eyes full of twisted hatred.
Sophia smiled slightly, her tone calm and flat. "Really? Then you really should have drowned me back then."
Hayden sneered. "What a pity... I was too merciful to you back then. I didn't want to keep any of the children that bitch Olivia gave birth to."
Actually, when Olivia was pregnant for the first time, he had hesitated about whether to stage an accident.
That bitch Olivia, although she held the title of his wife, was actually nothing without the Smith family.
How could such a woman deserve to bear his child?
"A scumbag like you, how dare you even mention the word mercy?" Sophia stood up with little interest and ordered the servants, "Throw him out. Having a beast like you, worse than pigs and dogs, stay here even one more second dirties the air in this house."
She had thought Hayden had some kind of leverage, coming to demand money so confidently.
She didn't expect it to be just useless nonsense over and over. She didn't want to listen for another second.
Several servants stepped forward and stood before Hayden. "Mr. Brown, please leave."
"Sophia, you bitch, I'm your biological father!" Hayden's eyes were bloodshot with rage as he rushed behind Sophia.
He raised his hand, about to strike Sophia.
Sophia sensed the strong malice coming from behind her, accompanied by a sharp gust of wind.
Her expression turned stern, and she instinctively dodged to the side.
Hayden moved too quickly. The servants didn't react in time, and when they did, they all cried out in alarm.
Sophia narrowed her eyes and kicked at him.
Hayden was unprepared. His fist missed, and immediately after, a sharp pain came from his abdomen.
It wasn't until his body crashed heavily to the ground that he realized what had happened.
He looked up in shock, his eyes full of disbelief as he stared at Sophia.
When did Sophia become so skilled? How had he never noticed this before?
But before he could think further, he saw Sophia slowly walking toward him.
Hayden's heart jumped in alarm, and a bad feeling suddenly arose.
Thinking of how ruthless Sophia had been when she struck just now, he couldn't help but feel afraid, his body continuously backing away.
"Don't come any closer! Sophia, I'm warning you, if you dare lay a hand on me, I definitely won't let you off!"
"Is that the only thing you know how to say?"
Sophia sneered, and with a little force, pinned him back down to the ground.
"Sophia, I'm your biological father! You can't treat me like this!"
Meeting Sophia's cold gaze that looked like she wanted to kill someone, Hayden was truly scared.
Sophia had him tightly by the throat, and his old face turned red from the pressure.
He tried to struggle, desperately grabbing at Sophia's wrist, trying to shake her hand off.
But somehow, even though Sophia looked small and delicate, she had surprisingly great strength.
No matter how he struggled, he couldn't break free from her grip.
He wanted to call for help, but found that all the servants around were standing a few steps away, watching coldly.
Not a single person was willing to step forward and help.
Hayden: "..."
What kind of freaks were the White family? Someone was about to die here, and they didn't know to step in and stop it?
"Have you ever fulfilled even one day of responsibility as a biological father? For your own selfish gain, you deliberately sold me to an illegal organization. Biological father? Do you deserve that title?"
Hayden's struggling hands paused, his pupils suddenly contracting. "How did you find out?"
When he was back home, he hadn't mentioned a word of this, not even to Isabella.
Later, if he hadn't been desperate, he would have taken this secret to his grave.
So how exactly did Sophia find out?
The more he thought about it, the more panicked Hayden became, even getting goosebumps all over his body.
Sophia scoffed and released her grip on Hayden's neck, standing up in disgust.
"If you don't want others to know, don't do it. This is the last time. Get out."
She wouldn't dirty her hands for Hayden, but she hoped he would be smart enough not to wander around in front of her again.
After gaining his freedom, Hayden couldn't care less about the money anymore.
He hurriedly scrambled up from the ground and left the White Manor in a sorry state.
Before leaving, Hayden made sure to throw out a threat. "Sophia, you just wait, I definitely won't let you off!"
Though they were threatening words, they carried a trace of trembling, without any confidence at all.
Watching his fleeing figure, Sophia's eyes flashed with mockery.
"Mrs. White, are you just letting him go like this? What if he gets desperate later and does something harmful to you?"
Emma walked up to Sophia and asked worriedly.
"Don't worry, I won't let that happen." A meaningful smile curved at the corners of Sophia's lips.
After going upstairs, Sophia called Matthew.
"Matthew, I need you to do me a favor."
"What favor? Tell me."
"It's not a big deal, just send two people over. I have something I need them to do."
Matthew, who was processing documents, paused, his heart immediately rising with concern. "What happened?"
"Hayden came to the White Manor today. Isabella is probably back too." Sophia recounted what had happened today.
Matthew's brows furrowed even tighter. "So you want to make a move against them?"
Sophia's clear eyes blinked, a glint of cunning flashing in them. "Who said that? I'm a law-abiding citizen."
There's a saying: evil people will get what they deserve.
She wouldn't dirty her hands for someone like Hayden.
However, the grudge from 21 years ago needed to be properly settled.
If she hadn't been sleeping lightly when Finnley answered the phone, she might still not know the truth about how she was kidnapped back then.
It turned out that all the tragedies in her life stemmed from Hayden, who called himself her biological father.
