Chapter 242 Not a Girlfriend, but a Wife
Benjamin pulled the car over to the side of the road.
Sophia looked at him in confusion, "Why did you suddenly stop?"
Benjamin unbuckled his seatbelt and said to Sophia, "Wait in the car for me. I'm going out to buy something."
"Okay." Sophia nodded.
Seeing her obedient look, a smile rippled through Benjamin's eyes.
He reached out and gently ruffled Sophia's hair, "Good girl."
Tyrell's car was following behind and also stopped.
He looked through the window at the car ahead and suddenly felt a bit regretful.
He should have ridden in the same car with them earlier. Now he didn't have a single chance to talk to Sophia the whole way.
Tyrell sighed with regret, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel absentmindedly.
After getting out of the car, Benjamin headed straight for a cake shop by the roadside.
Sophia loved desserts. In the past, whenever Benjamin got off work and passed by here, he would buy some small cakes to take back.
Since they happened to pass by today, Benjamin got out to buy some as usual.
He didn't waste time and directly told the staff his order, "One strawberry mousse cake, thank you."
Brief and to the point, not a single extra word.
The staff quickly wrapped up the cake and handed it to him.
Benjamin was a regular customer by now.
The staff member gathered courage and said teasingly, "Sir, you're so good to your girlfriend, always buying her a small cake."
Benjamin opened his phone to scan the code, then looked up and said casually, "Not girlfriend, wife."
The staff member's eyes widened in shock.
Such a handsome young man was already married?
The staff member smiled and said with emotion, "I didn't expect you were already married. Sorry about that."
"It's fine." Benjamin didn't take it to heart. After paying, he turned and left.
After he left, several female staff members gathered around, resting their chins in their hands as they watched his retreating figure, their eyes full of regret.
"How can such a handsome man be married already? What a shame!"
The only male staff member looked at them helplessly, "I told you guys you didn't have a chance. Do you believe me now?"
The female staff members looked dejected, all sighing, "Sure enough, all the handsome men are taken!"
The married Benjamin walked out of the cake shop when he suddenly caught sight of a familiar person out of the corner of his eye.
His steps paused slightly as he looked into the distance, his narrow eyes squinting.
Not far from him, a middle-aged couple was embracing intimately and entered a jewelry store.
Benjamin frowned, thought for a moment, then took out his phone and called Chase.
"Look into whether Hayden has a mistress."
Hayden alone wasn't worth his attention, but he was still Sophia's biological father.
Either way, he should investigate it clearly.
So Sophia could be mentally prepared.
As for how to handle it, that wasn't Benjamin's concern anymore.
He returned to the car with the cake, and Sophia immediately asked, "Why were you gone so long?"
"I bought you a cake."
Benjamin handed the cake to Sophia, the corners of his lips curving up.
Sophia's eyes lit up as she quickly took it, her eyes shining, "So you went to buy cake."
"Yes." Benjamin fastened his seatbelt again and reminded her softly, "You can't eat it now. Wait until tonight."
Sophia reluctantly withdrew her hand, "Okay."
The car soon arrived at the White Manor.
Tyrell took out the gift for Preston from the trunk and followed Benjamin and Sophia inside.
Sophia reminded him softly, "Tyrell, you don't need to be nervous. Grandpa has a very good temper."
"Who, who said I'm nervous?" Tyrell said stubbornly, "I'm fine! Not nervous at all."
What a joke!
He wasn't some inexperienced person. How could he be nervous?
Sophia helplessly rubbed her forehead, "Tyrell, when you say that, it might be more convincing if your hands weren't shaking."
Faced with Sophia's call-out, Tyrell wasn't annoyed. He smiled and made excuses, "This isn't nervousness. My hands are numb from driving. You got a problem with that?"
Sophia: "...No problem."
Whatever makes you happy.
Tyrell huffed and proudly quickened his pace.
Sophia smiled and followed, taking out a candy from her pocket.
When Tyrell put down the gift, Sophia quickly handed him the candy in her hand, "Tyrell, have a candy."
Tyrell quickly took the candy and held it in his palm. On the surface he looked calm, but inside he was already excited.
Sophia gave me candy!
This was the first time he'd received a gift from Sophia!
So touching!
Later he definitely had to post this candy in the family group chat to show off.
This was a treatment no one else got!
Only him!
He must be Sophia's favorite person!
Preston sat across from Tyrell.
Preston showed no sign of nervousness.
"Tyrell, how's your father's health?"
Tyrell immediately replied, "He's doing well, thank you for asking."
"Years ago, your father and I met a few times. Back then your father was full of vigor. So many years have passed, and I never expected we'd become family now." Preston said with emotion.
His expression became increasingly gentle.
The nervousness in Tyrell's heart gradually disappeared, "Yes, my father often mentions you too. He says there are few people he's admired in his life, and you're one of them."
Preston modestly waved his hand, "Now we're old, can only fish and tend flowers at home."
"Sophia is a good woman. Being able to marry her is Benjamin's blessing."
Alaric, sitting to the side, suddenly spoke up.
Tyrell glanced at Sophia, the pride in his eyes undisguised.
Sophia felt a bit embarrassed being praised, and Benjamin tightly gripped her wrist, holding her hand.
She turned her head and met Benjamin's deep eyes.
The two smiled at each other, the affection in their eyes needing no words—anyone with eyes could see it.
Preston nodded with satisfaction, the smile on his face deepening.
He handed a cup to Tyrell and also began to reminisce, "Actually, back then we had given up hope about Benjamin's condition. But unexpectedly, Benjamin met Sophia. All of this was destined."
Tyrell smiled and didn't respond.
He glanced at Sophia and Benjamin, then said softly, "Preston, I came here this time also because of this matter. My father said that since Sophia is part of the Smith family, no matter what reason she had for getting married before, it was too unfair to her."
Preston's hand pouring water paused, the smile on his lips slowly fading. He then looked seriously at Benjamin and Sophia, "Indeed. We also feel we've wronged Sophia, so we will definitely make up the wedding ceremony."
