Chapter 239 Missing a Wedding Photo

Chapter 241 Meeting

A sudden knock came from outside the door. Olivia immediately pushed down her emotions and called out toward the door, "Come in."

Sawyer opened the door and walked in with a grave expression, "Mom."

"Sawyer? You're back? Why are you only coming home now? Didn't you return a while ago?" Olivia's face instantly lit up with a smile when she saw her son.

She walked over to Sawyer and started chattering away, "Our family has really been through a lot lately. I heard there was a terrible rainstorm where you were filming. I called you so many times and you didn't pick up. I thought something had happened to you."

"I didn't know you cared about me so much, Mom. The situation was really dangerous. I was trapped in a cave and couldn't get out. I almost died." Sawyer lowered his eyes, a dark shadow passing through them.

Olivia's eyes widened instantly, filled with disbelief.

She grabbed Sawyer's arm, looking him up and down with concern, "You're not hurt, are you? That director really—don't they have proper filming studios? Why did they have to go film on a mountain? What if something had happened to you?"

Sawyer looked up slightly, watching the anger in Olivia's eyes, and suddenly let out a laugh.

But the smile didn't reach his eyes.

The Brown family wasn't exactly a top-tier wealthy family, but since the White family invested in them, business had started picking up.

So they could certainly afford a rescue helicopter.

But he had been there for so long, and never once did his so-called family come to rescue him.

At that moment, it would be a lie to say he wasn't hurt.

He got straight to the point, pointing toward the door and asking, "What's going on with Isabella? Isn't she supposed to be at the police station?"

Olivia's attention was quickly diverted.

A faint smile appeared on her face as she explained to Sawyer, "Sawyer, you should know that all these years I've never been in contact with my family. Actually, my family is still around."

"What?" Sawyer looked up in surprise, staring at Olivia.

No wonder Sawyer was surprised. For over twenty years, neither Hayden nor Olivia had ever mentioned Olivia's family.

So they had all assumed Olivia's family had passed away.

Otherwise, how could there have been no contact for so many years?

Olivia's face showed some embarrassment, unsure how to explain.

After thinking it over, she decided to tell him roughly what had happened back then.

Breaking ties with the Smith family had always been a hidden pain in her heart.

A wound she dared not touch.

Her family used to love her so much, but for some reason, they just couldn't accept Hayden.

Between love and family, she could only choose one.

In the end, she chose love.

She had actually regretted it, but every time she felt how good Hayden was to her, she felt it was all worth it.

So ever since Maddox kicked her out of the house, she had never actively contacted the Smith family.

Until a few days ago, when Isabella got into trouble.

With the Brown family's resources, they couldn't possibly stand up to the White Group.

But the Smith family was different.

The Smith family was a prominent wealthy family in Harmony City with considerable power, enough to stand up to the White Group.

After hearing this, Sawyer felt conflicted.

So that's how it was.

No wonder Isabella was released so quickly.

Then all his previous efforts, all that so-called evidence he provided, was it all for nothing?

Isabella didn't get punished. Instead, her attitude became even more arrogant, not even bothering to hide it anymore.

He glanced at Olivia, who was smiling happily, and felt even more conflicted.

Olivia truly loved Isabella. If she knew Isabella had become like that, or that... all those years of gentleness and consideration were just an act, she would surely break down, wouldn't she?

He asked in a low voice, "Have you and the Smith family reconnected now?"

The smile on Olivia's face stiffened slightly, and a trace of unease flashed across her expression, "I've made several calls, but none went through. They're probably busy."

Sawyer didn't expose Olivia's excuse. He smiled with pressed lips and said nothing.

Olivia was stubborn about many things, the type who wouldn't turn back until hitting a wall.

Otherwise, she wouldn't still love Isabella the same way after hearing that recording and watching the surveillance video of Isabella holding a knife to stab Sophia.

So he knew clearly that no matter how much he said, it would be useless.

"Mom, I've got work to do lately, so I won't be coming back. Take care of yourself." Sawyer pulled his arm from Olivia's hand and left the master bedroom.

Olivia felt somewhat puzzled, sensing that today's Sawyer seemed different from before.

But she didn't think much of it, because Isabella suddenly came in and started acting cute, hugging her.

With Isabella acting cute like this, Olivia couldn't think about anything else.

......

Meanwhile, after finishing lunch, Tyrell said, "I heard Preston has returned from abroad? Perfect, I haven't met your family yet."

Sophia and Benjamin exchanged glances, helplessness flashing in their eyes.

Benjamin nodded, "Sure, I'll call and let him know."

"Good." Tyrell finished his last bite and leaned back in his chair contentedly, waiting.

When Preston heard the news, he appeared calm on the surface, but inside he was starting to panic.

He had seen countless big occasions, but Benjamin and Sophia's marriage was formed in a rather unusual way after all.

What if the Smith family people were coming to cause trouble?

He walked to the closet with his cane and carefully selected clothes.

He even pulled Finn in to help him choose.

"What do you think of this one?" Preston took out a very formal suit from inside and carefully held it up in front of the full-length mirror.

Before Finn could respond, he shook his head, "No, no, this outfit looks too solemn and serious. Tyrell is a younger generation after all."

"How about this one? A tracksuit... isn't that too casual? It shows I don't take them seriously enough."

In the end, after all the picking and choosing, he nearly took out all the clothes from his closet.

The room that had been neat and tidy was now a mess, with Preston's clothes covering the bed.

Finn stood to the side, his eyes full of helplessness.

He reminded, "Mr. White said it's just a meeting, you don't need to be nervous."

Preston argued, "Who says I'm nervous? This is taking it seriously, seriously, understand?"

Finn helplessly agreed, "Alright, I know you're taking it seriously. I think what you're wearing right now looks perfect."

Preston was wearing a gray suit, which combined with his serious face, looked very dignified.

"Really?" Preston asked uncertainly.

Finn quickly nodded, "Of course it's true!"

Preston's furrowed brow gradually relaxed, "Okay, then this one. Help me put all the clothes back."

"Sure." Finn agreed from behind him.
