Chapter 207 The Treasure He Guards Carefully
He quietly breathed a sigh of relief, then pretended not to care as he looked away, saying, "I didn't want to see it that badly anyway."
Sophia was speechless. Just moments ago, someone had been staring at her phone non-stop.
She played along and nodded, "You didn't want to see it—I wanted to show you."
Benjamin cleared his throat softly, calmly turning his face away, his thin lips curving into a faint smile. "Got it."
Actually, ever since he learned that Sophia wasn't an orphan, and was even more outstanding than he'd imagined, he was really happy for her.
But beyond his happiness, what he felt more was panic and confusion.
He was afraid of losing her.
He felt he wasn't good enough for her, and didn't deserve how well she treated him.
But at the same time, he selfishly felt that she should belong to him, only to him—she was the treasure he carefully protected.
So when he found out that his treasure was being coveted by others, he frantically used all sorts of ways he used to think were childish and immature to claim his territory.
The car reached the foot of the mountain and slowly came to a stop.
Benjamin raised his hand and ruffled Sophia's hair. "I'll pick you up tonight."
Sophia blinked and asked, "Where are you going?"
"To make money." Benjamin held Sophia's small hand, gripping it tightly in his palm, and explained in a low voice, "The White Group is planning to invest in some tourism projects here. I'm going to do a site inspection today."
"No wonder you're staying here and won't go back. Turns out you didn't come here specifically to keep me company." Sophia narrowed her eyes and teased with a smile.
"I came to keep you company. Finding the investment project was just a coincidence." Benjamin explained in a low voice.
For him, Sophia always came first.
Hearing Benjamin speak sweet words so seriously, Sophia's cheeks quickly flushed red.
She quickly kissed his cheek, then opened the car door and got out.
Before she left, Benjamin heard her say, "Mr. White, I'm off to make money too!"
Benjamin sat in the car, watching her figure grow smaller through the window, and chuckled softly.
"Drive."
Chase immediately started the engine, and using his peripheral vision through the rearview mirror, glanced back and asked curiously, "Mr. White, how far have you and Mrs. White gotten?"
"How is that your business? Just drive." Benjamin's cold gaze swept over, and Chase immediately withdrew his eyes and focused on driving.
But after a while, his curiosity surfaced again, and he asked, "Mr. White, don't take this the wrong way, but you haven't slept with Mrs. White yet, have you?"
A vein on Benjamin's temple throbbed hard. "Shut up!"
Chase silently closed his mouth, but in his heart, he gained new understanding of Benjamin and Sophia's relationship progress.
Before, he'd always felt that Benjamin was all-powerful, like some kind of god.
It wasn't until Benjamin met Sophia that he understood what it meant for one thing to overcome another.
"Mr. White, what exactly are you worried about? The poison in your body has been completely cleared. Mr. Alaric White even said you'll definitely live a long life."
Hearing this, Benjamin couldn't help but smile bitterly. "My poison is cleared, but hers isn't yet."
He didn't dare try.
Didn't dare take that step.
Even with all those safety measures, they still couldn't completely eliminate the possibility of pregnancy.
Benjamin wanted absolute certainty—he didn't want Sophia to suffer any harm.
If they couldn't make the antidote in the future, he definitely wouldn't live on alone.
But he only thought this to himself, not telling Chase.
"Sir, you're being way too careful. This isn't like you at all." Chase sighed helplessly while driving.
In business, Benjamin never showed the slightest hesitation.
When it came to feelings, it was like he became a different person.
"Mr. White, don't you know there's something called birth control pills in this world?"
Benjamin frowned, his expression darkening. "Those pills are too harmful to women's bodies. I don't need to make her suffer for my own selfish desires."
Chase: "What about condoms then?"
"Not reliable enough. There are plenty of cases of accidental pregnancy even with condoms. You can find them all over the internet."
He absolutely couldn't leave any risks before the poison in Sophia's body was cleared.
If they really had a child, that child absolutely couldn't be kept.
He couldn't take that risk.
And he couldn't bear for Sophia to suffer that kind of grievance and harm.
So he'd rather hold back a bit longer.
Anyway, he was already searching everywhere for those medicines.
He would never let anything happen to Sophia.
Silverlight City, the Brown Villa.
Ever since the engagement was called off, Isabella had been crying every day.
She didn't understand why things had suddenly turned out this way.
Zander was her fiancé, her childhood sweetheart who grew up with her.
Whether in looks or family background, he was top-notch.
Before, she'd always thought she was so lucky, even felt that Zander was the best person in the world, and the one who loved her most.
But at some point, everything changed.
No, she knew when!
It started from the day of the engagement ceremony!
It was Sophia who ruined everything for her, ruined her entire life!
It was all Sophia's fault. Why did she have to come back? Why didn't she just die?
If she died, there wouldn't be so many problems!
She would definitely be living happily, maybe even married to Zander by now!
But now? Now she had nothing—her reputation, her marriage...
Everything had been destroyed by Sophia!
Olivia stood outside Isabella's door, her face showing undisguised anxiety.
She stood at the door, hesitating about whether to go in.
A servant stood behind her, asking hesitantly, "Mrs. Brown, Ms. Brown hasn't come out in a long time. Could something have happened?"
"I didn't expect Isabella to be hit this hard. If something happens to her, what will I do!" Olivia's eyes were red, full of worry.
Isabella was the daughter she'd doted on for over ten years. Even without a blood relationship, she still felt for this daughter.
"Go find someone to break down the door."
Olivia's expression darkened as she ordered the servant behind her.
The servant nodded and was about to go downstairs to find someone when the door opened.
Isabella walked out from inside, looking haggard and worn, without a trace of color in her face.
She already had a heart condition, and with her emotions fluctuating so much these past few days, she'd lost a whole size.
Olivia stepped forward, reaching out her hand to touch her face with heartache.
But before she could touch her, Isabella instinctively dodged.
"Mom, I'm sorry for making you worry. I'm fine, I'm just a bit sad and haven't gotten over it yet." Isabella lowered her eyes, which were full of grievance.
Her eyes were red and swollen, tears pooling in them, looking pitiful and heartbreaking.
