Chapter 206 Declaring Sovereignty
Sophia thought to herself that even though she had nothing, she was actually quite happy.
After all, a diamond ring means something different from other things.
Benjamin frowned and pondered for a long while before saying, "Things were pretty rushed this time. By the time I got the ring, you'd already sneaked over here. If you hadn't told me beforehand, I definitely would've dragged you back."
Sophia pulled her hand back and blinked guiltily, "Dragged, dragged me back for what?"
Benjamin sneered, "Lock you up, spank you, and see if you ever dare go to such a dangerous place again."
Sophia's cheeks burned. How could he say something like that with such a straight face?
She quickly changed the subject, "I didn't sneak out. I told you beforehand."
Before coming here, Sophia was afraid he'd worry, so she specifically told him about it.
He didn't say he disagreed at the time, but he didn't agree either. The next day, Sophia got the message from the company, hurriedly packed her things, and came here.
Truth be told, she was in the wrong.
"Right now we're talking about your problem. Don't bring up irrelevant stuff. What's the deal with that Facebook post? I don't remember posting anything on Facebook last night."
And "holding your hand in mine" too—when did she not know he had such a sentimental side?
Benjamin coughed uncomfortably and awkwardly touched his nose, saying in a low voice, "Who told him to message you in the middle of the night? He knows you're a married woman and still asks you out to dinner. Clearly up to no good."
Sophia was amused by his jealous look and couldn't help defending, "He's my senior from school. Maybe he just wanted to catch up when he asked me to dinner."
"You weren't even in the same year, what's there to catch up about? When you were in school, he'd already graduated." Benjamin's face darkened.
Sophia quietly took a bite of her sandwich and chewed.
She didn't tell Benjamin that actually, back in college, among the blind dates Francis set up for her, one of them was Lowell.
At the time, she had zero interest in blind dates, so she only glanced at the photo casually.
She didn't recognize him at first—after all, Lowell looked quite different from the guy in that student-era photo.
Later, Francis reminded her, and then she remembered.
She didn't know before, but now that she did, meeting again would inevitably be awkward.
So she had no intention of going to the dinner, but still put down her utensils and asked, "So you posted on Facebook to warn him?"
"Not really a warning." Benjamin's expression was calm. He glanced at Sophia and slowly continued, "Just marking my territory."
Sophia: "..."
He put down his coffee cup, straightened his suit, and said seriously, "Mrs. White, you should realize how serious this is."
"..."
"I was upset all last night."
"...So?"
Sophia held back a smile, wanting to hear what he'd say.
"You need to make it up to me."
"How?"
Benjamin's long, narrow eyes slightly narrowed as he leaned back lazily and casually against the chair.
Sophia propped her chin on her hands, waiting for him to speak.
After about half a minute, Benjamin finally snorted, "You figure it out yourself."
Sophia couldn't hold back and laughed out loud.
How could he say something so childish with that mature, steady face?
Before Benjamin's face could darken, Sophia slowly suppressed her smile and asked, "A kiss?"
Benjamin didn't answer directly but turned his face away and opened his arms, "Well, what are you waiting for?"
Sophia smiled and stood up, walked over to Benjamin, bent down to cup his face, and planted a kiss on his thin lips.
Just as she was about to pull back, a strong, powerful arm suddenly wrapped around her and pulled her into Benjamin's embrace.
After a dizzy spin, she found herself sitting steadily on Benjamin's lap.
His arm held her waist tightly, and through the thin fabric of her pajamas, Sophia could clearly feel the burning heat from his palm.
A blush rose on her cheeks as her bright eyes glared at him, "What are you doing? Didn't I already make it up to you?"
"Not enough." Benjamin frowned. It was too quick just now—he didn't even have time to savor it before she pulled away.
Sophia raised an eyebrow, her slender arms hooking around his neck as she slowly leaned in, "One more time?"
"Ten times. No, a hundred times." Benjamin stubbornly held onto Sophia.
How could once be enough?
Sophia's mouth twitched, somewhat speechless. "A hundred times? You don't want your lips anymore?"
Benjamin lowered his gaze, his deep eyes falling on Sophia's lips, thinking that not wanting them wouldn't be impossible either.
But he knew that if he said that out loud, he'd definitely get an eye roll from Sophia.
He cleared his throat, "Then let's start with ten, and I'll keep a tab on the rest."
His attitude was very firm—a hundred times, absolutely no less.
Sophia pressed her hand to her forehead. If this matter didn't pass, she had a feeling she probably wouldn't make it out of the hotel today.
She tilted her head up and brought her lips closer.
Benjamin's thin lips were slightly cool, mixed with a crisp mint fragrance and the rich aroma of coffee.
Sophia blinked, her heartbeat suddenly accelerating like a wild horse breaking free, racing wildly everywhere.
One.
Two.
...
Nine.
Just as Sophia was about to pull back, a warm palm suddenly cupped the back of her head, deepening the kiss.
Benjamin was completely different from his proud, jealous self earlier. At this moment, he was more like a highly aggressive beast, wanting to devour her completely.
Sophia was kissed until she felt dizzy, her back pressed against the hard edge of the table, which hurt a bit.
She frowned slightly, wanting to push Benjamin away, when a soft hand suddenly cushioned the spot that was hurting.
Sophia slowly opened her eyes and looked at the handsome face before her, feeling somewhat touched.
He seemed to understand her so well—with just one look, one gesture, he knew what she wanted.
No one dislikes their husband caring about them more, and Sophia was no exception.
She liked today's Benjamin—the jealous him, the him who secretly marked his territory, the proud him demanding compensation, the him holding and kissing her...
She liked them all.
Chase was waiting at the hotel entrance. When he saw Benjamin bringing Sophia out, his face was glowing, showing no trace of last night's angry, cold demeanor.
Sophia followed beside Benjamin, being led out by his hand, her snow-white cheeks tinged with a blush, her red lips fresh and alluring.
With just one glance, Chase understood what had happened.
He calmly looked away and very professionally opened the back door.
Benjamin reached out to shield Sophia's head, protecting it.
Only after Sophia got into the car did he follow.
The two sat side by side. Benjamin kept lowering his gaze, intentionally or unintentionally staring at Sophia's phone, but didn't say a word.
Sophia helplessly touched her forehead, opened her Messenger, and then clicked on the conversation with Lowell.
"Look, I'm showing you. See clearly? I already turned down Lowell."
Benjamin glanced over and found that Sophia had indeed rejected Lowell.
