Chapter 141 Eighty Percent Certainty
Amelia's body stiffened sharply, and she turned around in surprise. "Alaric, you're back?"
She withdrew her foot, a flash of delight in her eyes.
Alaric walked over, his brows knitted tightly together. "Mom, did you just have another conflict with Sophia?"
A trace of unease flickered in Amelia's eyes as she forced a smile. "No, no, nothing like that. Alaric, come let mom take a look at you. Why have you been leaving early and coming back late these past few days? I haven't seen you in ages."
Alaric answered impatiently, "The lab's been pretty busy lately, I can't get away to come home. Mom, I heard Benjamin had a poison attack at Ronin's birthday party? How is he now?"
At the mention of Benjamin, Amelia's face immediately darkened.
She let out a cold laugh and said resentfully, "So embarrassing. He ruined Ronin's perfectly good party."
"Mom, how can you say that! He's your own son!"
"I don't have such a disgraceful son. If my health hadn't been too poor for an abortion when I was pregnant with him, do you think I would have kept such a mistake?" Amelia's expression was icy, deep resentment hidden in her eyes.
Alaric was startled by her look. He sighed helplessly, not knowing what to say for a moment.
He shook his head helplessly, his eyes full of disappointment.
His mother had gone crazy.
Perhaps she'd gone crazy a long time ago.
"Mom, it's late. Go back and rest."
As Alaric spoke, his voice carried extreme coldness.
"Alaric, mom's not sleepy yet." Amelia looked at Alaric with grievance.
"Go back!" Alaric snapped impatiently.
Amelia was startled by his cold, harsh attitude and reluctantly walked toward the kitchen exit.
After just two steps, Amelia suddenly stopped and pointed at Sophia in the kitchen. "Alaric, Sophia isn't as innocent as you think. She's a promiscuous woman. You must not get involved with her."
"Mom, do you even know what you're saying?"
Alaric couldn't believe his mother had become like this.
Sophia wasn't just the White family's granddaughter-in-law, she was the entire White family's savior.
To use such filthy words about Sophia.
Simply... absurd.
Amelia explained urgently, "Look at the clothes she's wearing. That coat isn't Benjamin's at all. Who knows, it's probably from some man outside."
At Amelia's reminder, Alaric finally noticed that Sophia looked completely disheveled.
She was still wearing the evening gown from the party, her originally fluffy, soft hair now plastered wetly to her scalp.
The exposed hem of her dress was soaking wet, leaving water marks on the floor.
That coat indeed didn't seem to be Benjamin's, but at a glance you could tell it wasn't ordinary fabric. The craftsmanship was exquisite too—clearly expensive.
Alaric paused, frowning with concern. "Sophia, what happened? How did you get completely soaked at a party?"
Amelia laughed coldly and mocked, "Who knows? Probably fooling around with some man."
"Mom, if you keep talking nonsense, pack your things and go back to the Martinez Villa." Alaric's face darkened as he scolded sharply.
Amelia's eyes widened in disbelief. "You, what did you say? You want to kick me out of the White Manor?"
Alaric rubbed his temples wearily and said in a low voice, "It's not that I want to kick you out, it's that you don't want to stay properly at the White Manor yourself."
"Alaric, I'm your own mother, and you want to kick me out!" Amelia had never imagined her most beloved eldest son could say such things.
She was shocked beyond measure, her heart both hurt and aggrieved.
However, Alaric didn't want to deal with her anymore. He turned to look at Chase, who was slowly coming downstairs, and asked, "Chase, what happened to Mrs. Sophia White at the party? How did she get completely soaked?"
Chase slowly shook his head, his expression grave. "Mr. Alaric White, I wasn't present when Mrs. Sophia White had her incident."
Alaric's heart sank as his gaze shifted to Sophia, who was busy in the kitchen.
Sophia's figure was slender and petite, but her back was exceptionally straight. Even completely soaked, it couldn't hide her grace.
No matter what happened outside, she remained focused and serious on making the medicine, her movements skilled and methodical.
Alaric asked again, "What about that coat?"
A trace of hesitation crossed Chase's face.
Alaric instructed, "Just tell me the truth."
Amelia stared intently at Chase, wanting to get an answer from him.
Chase sighed deeply and explained, "Before returning to the White Manor, Mrs. Sophia White went to the Lumina Group. When she came out, she had an extra coat on. As for what specifically happened, I'm not clear."
"What? You went to the Lumina Group?" Alaric's expression changed dramatically, a flash of surprise in his eyes.
"Yes." Chase answered truthfully.
Alaric looked at Sophia, the expression in his eyes gradually becoming complex.
Time passed minute by minute. The poison in Sophia's body clamored wildly, like waves of raging seas surging, almost swallowing her whole.
After a long while, Sophia finally let out a heavy sigh of relief and looked toward the door.
"Wait another hour and the medicine can be taken out."
"Sophia, is this medicine really the one that can cure the poison in Benjamin's body?" Alaric was the first to rush in, asking excitedly.
"Yes." A faint smile slowly appeared on Sophia's bloodless face.
Hearing this, Alaric suddenly felt wild joy in his heart.
A smile curved at the corner of his mouth, and his eyes looking at Sophia were full of gratitude. "Sophia, thank you, really thank you! You're the White family's savior."
"This is what I should do." Sophia smiled indifferently.
As long as Benjamin was okay, everything was worth it.
Sophia cast a cold glance at Amelia, then walked upstairs and into the bedroom.
She walked to the safe, entered the password, and took out a vial of medicine.
This was the latest antidote she had developed.
The two antidote formulas worked together, complementing each other.
When Alaric walked in, he saw Sophia standing straight by the bed, holding a syringe.
His eyelid twitched violently as he asked urgently, "Sophia, how confident are you that you can completely remove the poison from Benjamin's body?"
Sophia pondered for a moment, then slowly said, "Eighty percent."
If these two antidote formulas didn't have any adverse reactions in Benjamin's body, the success rate would be even higher.
With Sophia's assurance, Alaric's anxious heart slowly settled.
He let out a heavy sigh of relief, his eyes looking at Benjamin full of anticipation and joy.
Twenty-four years—he had finally waited for this moment.
Benjamin, what I couldn't do, someone has finally done for me.
You will surely live a long life.
