Chapter 26

Sofia's POV

Getting down from the car, I was about paying the cab driver when Raven insisted that she'd be the one to pay him by herself.

"It's really not a big deal, I'd be the paying for the bills." Arguing with her was pointless so I let her be.

"As you wish your majesty." I bowed my head slightly in courtesy as I held the two edges of my gown making her laugh heartily.

"This place looks so cool...I haven't entered inside and i already don't feel like going." Raven looked around like a lost sheep.

Well, I don't have to blame her, this was the exact same way I behaved the fist day I stepped foot into this big gigantic compound.

" Welcome ladies...." I heard a familiar voice greeted.

I need no soothsayer to tell me that was Jake.

" Good day." Raven sent a strand of hair behind her ear as she looked at Jake with dreamy eyes.

Gosh!

Is she drooling.

" What the heck is wrong with you?" I nudged her as i whispered.

" Nothing... Can't you just leave me be?" Raven is blushing. First time to see my friend blush this hard because of a man.

Well, thats enough sign to tell me that she's crushing on him. I followed her inside while praying silently praying she doesn't get too attached to Jake.

"Good day ma'am." I heard Raven greeting.

Could it be my mom?

"Who are you?" That's it! That's definitely my mom.

So sassy!

"This isn't your house so that question isn't necessary." I wasn't supposed i sound like that even for the fact that I invited my friend over for the first time.

But I couldn't help it!

This actually means I haven't forgiven her even after telling Alexander that I have.

Doesn't this mean that I lied.

"You shouldn't talk to your mom like that Sofia." Raven scolded and I rolled my eyes.

"I know this isn't my house but you can't just let any stranger into your husband's house. What if he gets snatched?" Mom looked at Raven while talking.

"I'm not sure that should be your problem! See who's talking about snatching someone's husband." I walked away in anger and Raven trailed behind me.

" Are you this hotty?" I'm sure Raven never expected me to act like this but I just couldn't forgive my mom after everything she did.

Calling her mom feels weird but what can I do?

"Sofia.... You need o calm down, okay?" Raven coaxed.

"Oh please let that be the less your problem. You'd go to the studies and wait for me while I freshen up and prepare something for you to eat." I announced, the smile I earned from Raven while talking makes me happier.

I took Raven to the study but before that, she freshened up too. She had refused to wear any of my clothes but I roped her into wearing one so she could be stress free.

I ran to the kitchen to prepare something for her to eat, there I met my mom preparing all kinds of food.

"What's the big occasion for?" I wanted to let her be but curiousity took the better part of me.

"Dinner." She stated and looked away.

Oh, I see.

"Uhm, Sofia?" My mom called out like she was thinking about something.

"Mhmm..." I hummed but she looked at me wondering if she should speak or not.

"Why isn't Alexander back from work yet? It's late already." She asked in concern.

"He's in a meeting and he didn't tell me how long it would take. But, if he doesn't return before 10pm, then he would sleep at his penthouse in the company." I replied and saw a look of worry and disappoinment flash in her eyes.

I think she just cares.

" So what about your friend?"

" She would be sleeping over." I stated simply.

" Have you called your husband to know if he has eaten or not?" My mom asked.

When did she become a detective?

" No, but we ate before I came back home." I'm getting tired of replying so many questions.

" Call him then to know how he is." She said jerking a shoulder forward.

I know I'm supposed to do that but the Alexander I know wouldn't appreciate that especially after telling me he'd be in an important meeting.

"I'm sorry but he wouldn't like that."

"Okay..." My mom muttered and gave up.

"I'm really not okay with your friend staying here." Before my eyes could land on her, she looked away obviously avoiding my gaze.

"Neither am I." That should be enough to tell her that I'm still weary of her.

I was about walking off when a thought hit me hard.

"Ever since you came back here, have you tried communicating with grandma and Devon?" She stared at me without having anything to say.

"You see...." I walked away after saying my pice without sparing her another glance.

Walking into the study where I had instructed Raven to wait earlier, I saw reading a book.

"Bookworm?" Dropping the good in the table, I asked.

She raised her head up and looked at her corner. I raised a brow at her after waiting to get an answer from her for some minutes.

"Well, I recommended the book to her, she seemed bored." Jake replied walking out of a corner.

"Oh I see." I said nodding.

I got the urge to tease them both so I probed further, "It seems you both are getting along real good." Raven gave me a death glare.

It actually feels good seeing her blush like a highschool student who's in love.

"Don't you think you're gonna make your friend uncomfortable by teasing her?" Jake asked.

This guy is a pain in the ass.

He's supposed to feel shy too or am I mistaking?

"She's cute too." Jake added and this time, u knew i knew Raven wished for the ground to open and swallow her.

"Sofia shut up." Raven said pinching me and i winced.

"Her voice would sound good in bed!"
