Chapter 80 Illegitimate Child
Chapter 80 Illegitimate Child
Lily rolled her eyes at Olivia helplessly. She knew it—Olivia was always the first to jump at any drama. She might talk a big game, but she never missed out on doing risky things.
The two of them tiptoed closer to the villa and hid behind the bushes outside the yard.
The curtains in the villa weren't fully drawn, and through the window, they could see what was happening in the living room.
Lily spotted Zane. He was sitting on the sofa, looking somewhat tired.
And beside him...
Lily's eyes widened instantly.
It was a young woman who looked to be around thirty, pretty, with a gentle demeanor, pouring tea for Zane.
Olivia saw her too and covered her mouth in surprise.
What shocked Lily even more was that there was also a little boy, about five or six years old, sitting in the living room playing with toys.
The boy was adorable, and his features somewhat resembled Zane's.
Olivia couldn't believe her eyes. "That child, could he be..."
Just then, an elderly woman came down the stairs. She walked over to Zane's side and seemed to be saying something.
Olivia recognized the old woman—it was Lily's grandmother, Orla.
Lily froze in place.
She watched as Orla picked up the little boy, her face full of loving smiles—the kind of smile Lily had never seen on Orla's face before.
Even toward Haven, Orla had never been this gentle.
In the living room, Zane stood up, seeming about to leave.
The young woman grabbed his hand, speaking in an anxious tone.
Orla was also talking beside them, seemingly trying to persuade Zane of something.
The little boy ran over and hugged Zane's leg, looking up at him and calling out something.
Zane's expression was complicated. He crouched down and patted the boy's head, then stood up, said a few words to the woman and Orla, and turned to leave.
"Quick, hide! Your dad's coming out!" Olivia pulled Lily to a more hidden spot.
Zane walked out of the villa, got in his car, and soon drove away.
After his car disappeared in the distance, Lily slowly stood up.
She never expected that not only had Zane screwed Elodie, but he was also keeping a woman on the side? And had a five or six-year-old illegitimate child?
And Orla actually knew about this, even living with that woman and helping raise the child?
The child was five or six years old, which meant that six or seven years ago, Zane had already been cheating. Yet at home, he still played the role of someone who listened to everything Celeste said.
Who would have thought—Zane was such a good actor.
Olivia carefully glanced at Lily and found no sadness on her face, only excitement. She knew Lily wasn't heartbroken over Zane's affair.
But that made sense—years ago, Zane could cheat on Celeste, so now he could cheat on anyone else.
Lily and Olivia returned to the car, both still reeling from the shock.
"Lily, should we tell Celeste? Let the Martin family completely fall apart." Olivia gleefully suggested.
Lily shook her head. "Not yet. Right now, Celeste and Haven are weak, so they'll definitely try every way to go along with Zane. Even if they find out at this point, they won't be able to make a scene. That would be a waste of this information. Plus, we don't have enough evidence yet. We need to collect more."
"You're right." Olivia nodded, then changed the subject. "By the way, what about Samuel? Tonight's surveillance failed. Are you still going to investigate?"
A flash of determination crossed Lily's eyes. "Of course! I'm more and more suspicious that Samuel is actually David."
"But we can't keep up with him at all." Olivia felt a bit deflated.
"If we can't keep up, then we won't. I have a new idea."
"What idea?"
"We split up. You go stake out David at the Jones Group, and I'll follow Samuel. If they appear in two different places at the same time, that proves they're not the same person. If one of them disappears, then that means there's a problem!"
Olivia's eyes lit up. "That's a great plan! This way we can figure out the truth once and for all!"
"We'll do it tomorrow. Tomorrow, you find a way to stake out near the Jones Group and see if you can spot David. I'll follow Samuel."
"No problem! This time we're definitely getting to the bottom of this!"
At the Jones Villa, the lights were bright.
As soon as Lily walked in, she saw Skylar sitting in the living room watching TV. Seeing her return, Skylar immediately stood up.
"Lily's back? It's so late, where did you go?" Skylar asked with a smile.
Lily smiled and said, "Olivia and I went out for a bit. Mom, where's Samuel?"
"Samuel's in the study dealing with work. That boy, once he starts working, never stops. He doesn't know how to rest. Lily, go persuade him to rest early."
"Okay, Mom." Lily agreed, then asked casually, "By the way, Mom, does Samuel have any plans tomorrow?"
Skylar paused, then laughed. "Lily, are you showing concern for Samuel? You two have such a good relationship!"
Lily's face turned slightly red. "I, I was just asking."
"I understand, I understand!" Skylar laughed even more happily. "I'll go ask for you right now."
"Mom, you don't have to..."
"Don't worry, leave it to me. I definitely won't let Samuel know you're asking about his schedule. Give him a surprise tomorrow!"
With that, Skylar practically skipped to David's study.
"Son, what's your schedule tomorrow?"
"Why are you asking?"
"Can't a mother care about her son?"
"Yes, yes, of course." David felt a bit helpless. His mother was really getting younger in spirit.
"Tomorrow I'm going to Tranquil Springs Retreat to discuss business."
Skylar's eyes suddenly lit up. "The Tranquil Springs Retreat with the beautiful scenery near the resort? Why don't you go with Lily tomorrow? Consider it a vacation. You've been married for so long and haven't had a proper date. This is the perfect opportunity."
David glanced at Skylar, a hint of amusement flashing in his eyes.
Lily really had some skills—she could actually get Skylar on her side. Now she even had Skylar gathering information for her.
"Tomorrow is business. It's not really appropriate to bring Lily."
Skylar wasn't happy. "What business do you have? Even if you're discussing business, you can still bring Lily. At worst, just have her step aside during the meeting."
"Mom..."
"Are you going with Hazel?" Skylar suddenly asked.
David was silent for a moment. "She'll be there too."
