Chapter 95 Lily, Do You Really Disregard Sibling Affection
David's back?
Lily wasn't particularly surprised. A mocking smile played at her lips: "He can come back if he wants. It's got nothing to do with me."
"Michael's been pretty sick this time and couldn't handle company matters, so David found out about it. He also found out you ranked first in the entire city on the exam."
Austin hadn't expected Lily to do so well either, and his feelings were complicated.
Lily said coldly, "So what?"
"David's flying back tonight. You know his temper. I suggest you move back first, and after David leaves, you can move out again. Michael and I will both keep it secret for you."
He now understood that Lily had left the Roberts Mansion because she was heartbroken.
He needed to slowly make it up to her.
Lily hadn't expected David to actually come back.
But after her exams, David was bound to return eventually - it had been the same in her past life.
She would have to face him sooner or later.
Lily's expression was cold: "No need."
"Lily, there's no point in going head-to-head with David. You'll only get hurt. It might even drag that school doctor into it. You know David's temper - he's capable of anything."
Lily felt irritated: "I know how to handle it myself. Stay out of it."
She knew David would be trouble, of course.
But she didn't want to accept Austin's suggestion. Since she'd already left the Roberts Mansion, she wasn't going back.
Austin sighed helplessly: "Lily, do you really hate Michael and me that much?"
They both knew they'd wronged Lily and wanted to make it up to her, but she wouldn't accept anything.
They were siblings - surely no grudge couldn't be resolved?
Lily's eyes held mockery: "We cut ties long ago. What you're saying has nothing to do with me."
After Lily returned to the apartment, she ran her fingers through her hair, feeling irritated.
She didn't care about herself.
She was just worried about dragging Dennis into this.
After her livestream ended that evening, she still hadn't seen Dennis come back.
While Lily was waiting on the sofa, she fell asleep. After some time, the apartment door opened.
Lily opened her eyes to see two people at the entrance - more precisely, Dennis supporting a drunk Eric.
She stood up: "Did you guys go to a business dinner?"
"Still up this late?"
Dennis helped Eric to his room and dumped him on the bed, then came back out and looked at Lily: "Something you want to talk about?"
"Yes."
Dennis took off his suit jacket, loosened his tie, and casually unbuttoned a few buttons.
Lily immediately ran to pour water, first placing a glass of lemon water on Eric's bedside table, then hurrying over to Dennis.
She placed a glass of lemon water in front of him, too.
Dennis's gaze fell on her slender hands, his throat moving slightly: "What is it?"
He guessed it might be related to Sophie reporting her exam results.
Lily looked at him: "I want to find another place to live. I won't be staying here anymore."
Dennis raised an eyebrow at this, his eyes locking on her face, seeing the anxiety and hesitation there: "Reason?"
"Because... because it's not right for me to keep living in your place for free. Now that I have money, I can actually buy my own place."
Lily made up an excuse.
Lily continued: "Plus, if your girlfriend comes to see you in the future, it won't be convenient with Eric living in your place."
"Worried my girlfriend won't have a place to sleep?"
His voice was husky, with a hint of teasing.
He leaned casually against the sofa, his shirt collar wide open, not caring at all about exposing his collarbone.
Seeing him so relaxed and casual like this, Lily felt like she was being seduced.
She lowered her eyes: "I'm just trying to be helpful."
"Don't worry, she'll sleep with me."
Dennis's lips curved with amusement: "Lily, you're young, but you sure think a lot."
After hearing what he said, Lily's mood instantly soured.
She couldn't imagine him being so good to another girl, sleeping in the same bed with her. It hurt a little.
Lily's expression became much calmer: "I'm going back to rest now."
Lily turned and left, closing the door rather forcefully.
Hearing her slam the door, Dennis raised an eyebrow. Was she angry?
"Dennis, you're not being honest. You don't even have a girlfriend. You're lying."
"I didn't lie to her. Doesn't your girlfriend sleep in the same room as you?"
Eric took a sip of lemon water: "You're playing word games with her. Lily's so thoughtful - she even remembered to put water by my bed. If it weren't for her identity, I'd actually think you two are pretty well-matched."
Dennis's eyes darkened: "Don't joke about that."
"Alright, let's talk business. I just got word: they pulled the exam surveillance footage, and there's clear evidence that Sophie cheated. What are you going to do?"
Dennis's lips curved slightly, the smile not reaching his eyes: "Handle it the way it should be handled, of course!"
Vermin should be crushed.
After Lily returned to the apartment, thinking about what Dennis had said, she wanted nothing more than to punch him.
She lay on the bed feeling uncomfortable.
Recently, she'd actually forgotten about Dennis having a girlfriend, thinking that if she ignored it, she could pretend it never happened.
But in the end, it was just self-deception.
The reason she suggested moving out was so that when David found out she was living elsewhere, he wouldn't trace it back to Dennis.
Because of this, Lily didn't sleep well all night.
The next day, she got a call from Alvin: "Ms. Roberts, the game you helped develop is about to launch. We need all the participants to attend a final meeting. As a technical team member, you need to be there too. Are you free this afternoon?"
"I don't want to go. One less person at the meeting won't make a difference anyway."
Lily didn't want to see anyone from the Roberts family again.
"Ms. Roberts, this is work-related. I know what you're thinking, but business is business. If your future startup or other work involves the Roberts family, are you going to avoid them for the rest of your life?"
"Who says I'm avoiding them?"
Lily thought for a moment and said, "I'll come over later."
After hanging up, she felt a bit down.
She wouldn't run away.
That afternoon, Lily went straight to the hospital, where Michael was still admitted.
When she walked into the room, she saw several people from the project team - it really was a meeting.
On the way there, she'd even wondered if it was a setup to trick her into coming.
When Michael saw Lily, his eyes were gentle: "You're here. Let's start the meeting."
Lily stood to the side, listening to everyone speak. Some people even complained that their partner was pushing hard on the timeline.
She realized that Eric and Dennis hadn't been home these past few days - they were probably busy with the game.
After the meeting ended, Lily prepared to leave without looking up.
"Lily, wait."
The room quickly emptied until only the two of them remained.
Michael spoke: "Did you know David came back last night?"
"I know, but my decision won't change."
Lily had just reached the door when a group of people appeared outside. The man leading them wore a suit, his features handsome but stern.
David said coldly, "Stop right there. Where do you think you're going? Come home with me!"
