Chapter 96 No One Will Have a Good Time
When Lily saw David appear, her pupils constricted.
What she used to fear most was serious David.
Every time David came home, she tried to minimize her presence around him, afraid of being scolded by David.
But in her past life, when David kicked her out of the house, she had already given up hope.
Lily looked up, her eyes cold and distant: "The meeting's over, and there's nothing else, so of course I'm leaving."
"Where are you going?"
David's gaze was icy, carrying an intimidating pressure.
Austin quickly came over to smooth things over: "Back to the Roberts Mansion, of course. Where else would she go, right Lily?"
Austin frantically gave Lily meaningful looks.
He hoped Lily would back down at this moment; otherwise given David's temper, Lily was going to suffer.
Sophie also spoke up with fake concern: "Lily, since David's back, stop throwing a tantrum."
Austin frowned at Sophie. Why did she have to say something like that?
She knew perfectly well that Lily was stubborn.
Lily raised her eyelids slightly, her almond-shaped eyes cold: "I'm living outside now, independently on my own."
"Lily, have you lost your mind?"
Austin didn't expect Lily to dare answer David like that. David had clearly asked that question to give her a chance!
But Lily didn't take it!
Lily remained cool and detached, her expression defiant: "I'm perfectly clear-headed."
David's face turned dark: "Lily, I didn't want to believe you'd do such outrageous things. In just a few months, that school doctor has corrupted you like this!"
"I've had enough of everything about the Roberts family. It has nothing to do with Dennis."
"You think I'd believe that?"
David said coldly: "But you'll never see him again anyway."
Lily's expression suddenly changed: "David, what are you planning to do to him?"
"What I do to him depends on how you just performed. Unfortunately, you failed my test, so now I'll use my own methods to make you obey."
Lily saw the bodyguards in the hallway and immediately understood.
She turned to look at Michael, her eyes bloodshot: "So this was all a trap?"
Michael anxiously explained, "Lily, Michael didn't know David would come to the hospital at this time."
"Enough. Your explanations just make me sick."
Lily felt cold all over.
In their eyes, she had never been a complete person. She was just a puppet in their hands, always having to follow their wishes.
David spoke loudly: "Lily, don't think that just because you got first place in the city, you can do whatever you want. If it weren't for me, do you think the cheating incident could have been covered up?"
Lily said expressionlessly, "First of all, I didn't cheat, so there's nothing for you to cover up."
"Still being stubborn! Everyone's seen your grades over the years. You think just because your grades improved dramatically in the last few months, you could become first in the city? You think no one would suspect your scores?"
David didn't believe Lily could achieve such good results.
After hearing this, Michael quickly said, "David, Lily's grades improved because she worked hard. Even her teacher said she has real ability. I believe she didn't cheat."
"Enough. You and Austin have both been manipulated by Lily. She throws tantrums, and you just let her? Sophie already told me the truth, so don't try to hide it from me."
David was furious after learning about Lily's behavior.
Michael and Austin both looked at Sophie at the same time, feeling uncomfortable. They had agreed not to tell David about what happened during this period.
Why would Sophie do this?
For the first time, both of them felt dissatisfied with Sophie. After all, Sophie was such a sensible person—how could she do something like this?
Sensing her brothers' expressions, Sophie explained reluctantly: "I'm sorry, I accidentally let it slip. It's all my fault."
David waved his hand: "Sophie, how can this be your fault? Your two brothers forced you to lie. They're the ones in the wrong!"
Both Michael and Austin felt very frustrated.
Austin couldn't help saying: "David, about Lily running away from home—it's actually my fault. I wasn't good to Lily and often bullied her. That's what made her sad enough to leave the Roberts Mansion."
Austin gradually realized how excessive his behavior had been and wanted to make it up to Lily.
Austin looked at Lily uncomfortably: "It's all Austin's fault, really. I won't do this anymore."
He swore it!
He didn't want to cut ties with Lily. She was his only sister.
Hearing Austin's words, Lily's lips curved into a mocking smile: "A late apology is cheaper than grass. Move aside, I'm leaving!"
But the bodyguards at the door blocked her way and didn't move.
At that moment, David took a phone call: "Lily, you can't leave yet. People from the College Board are coming to investigate your cheating. You'd better have a good attitude, or even the Roberts family won't be able to protect you."
Lily's eyes showed confusion.
Hadn't the College Board already investigated? Richard had told her to just go home and wait for news!
Why were they coming again?
Something felt off.
Sophie was very happy to hear that people from the College Board were coming to investigate the cheating.
Sophie said with false concern, "Lily, just honestly confess later. Maybe the punishment will be lighter that way."
Michael stared coldly at Sophie: "What are you talking about? Lily didn't cheat!"
What was wrong with Sophie?
Why did she keep throwing dirt on Lily?
Sophie immediately said pitifully, "Michael, I'm doing this for Lily's good."
David immediately defended Sophie, looking at Michael: "Sophie's doing the right thing. You've spoiled Lily too much; that's why she's become like this."
Michael felt very frustrated.
Watching Sophie stand behind David, looking wronged, he finally understood a bit of what Lily used to feel.
No wonder Lily was heartbroken and so determined to leave the Roberts family.
Michael looked coldly at Sophie: "Until the matter is investigated clearly, you'd better not say things that cause misunderstandings."
"Michael, I..."
"Shut up. I don't want to hear your explanations."
Michael was in a bad mood.
Sophie could only close her mouth, but at least with David by her side, everyone else had to listen to David.
Watching Michael speak up for her, Lily just found it ridiculous.
Maybe Michael had now discovered that Sophie wasn't what he imagined, but she didn't care about any of this anymore.
She secretly took out her phone, wanting to send Dennis a message.
"What are you doing?"
David snatched Lily's phone away.
David glanced at the phone: "Messaging him now won't help. He can't come."
Lily's face was extremely cold: "I told you, this has nothing to do with him."
"Wait until the investigators arrive, then you can talk to me with that kind of confidence!"
David put the phone in his pocket: "If you get a mark for cheating on exams, you'll be punished. For the rest of your life, you'll only be able to rely on the Roberts family to survive. Do you think that the school doctor will support a useless person like you forever?"
Lily suddenly laughed, though the laughter was cold.
Her eyes carried a touch of coldness: "I'm useless? Without me, Austin's team couldn't even make it to the finals. Without me, Michael's project couldn't solve the firewall problem at all! I'm so fucking sick of your high-and-mighty attitude!"
