Chapter 49 Michael was Sick
Lily's face was set in determination.
Sophie was starting to feel unsure.
The voice of that streamer sounded just like Lily's. It was almost like they were the same person!
But Sophie still didn't want to admit that Lily might actually be that streamer.
Lily couldn't be that impressive, right?
Calista scoffed, "Lily, cut it out. The streamer didn't show her face, and her voice just happens to sound like yours. Don't get a big head."
Violet jumped to Lily's defense, "But Lily is really good. She pulled off twelve consecutive hits and won the revival match!"
"Exactly, Sophie was dragging us down in that match, and they only won because of Lily."
"Yeah, Sophie, you're just jealous 'cause Lily plays better than you!"
Sophie's eyes welled up with tears.
The boys in the class quickly jumped to her defense.
"Lily, look what you've done. You've made Sophie cry. You need to apologize."
Lily's face showed no emotion. "She's just weak!"
Still feeling wronged, Sophie put on a pitiful face. "Everyone, please stop. I admit I'm not good at gaming; no matter how hard I try, I can't match Lily's skills. But I'm definitely not jealous; I'm happy for her."
Lily sneered, "Good, then keep trying."
Sophie was taken aback, not expecting Lily to follow up like that.
But the boys continued to defend Sophie, "Lily, you're just a bit better at games, but showing off like this is wrong."
"Yeah, you made Sophie cry. You should apologize and comfort her."
Lily's smile was cold. "Do you really think you're worthy?"
"Lily, you're being too harsh!"
Violet stood by Lily's side, glaring at the boys. "You guys should stop defending Sophie. Every time something happens, she cries like she's been wronged. It's annoying!"
"Yeah, if she has something to say, just say it. Crying doesn't make her right."
Most of the girls in the class didn't like Sophie's behavior.
Whenever Sophie cried, she always got away with everything.
The girls had long been fed up with Sophie.
After being scolded, Sophie cried even harder in front of the boys, her tear-streaked face tugging at their hearts.
Lily gathered her things and left the classroom, not wanting to waste any more time there.
She had no desire to see anyone from the Roberts family, including Sophie.
Violet caught up with her, whispering, "Lily, don't let Sophie's words get to you. We're all your fans and we'll support you."
Lily sensed that Violet and the others had figured out that she was SweetLemon. She smiled shyly, "It's not that I don't want to talk about it."
"You don't need to explain to us. We get it. Otherwise, some jealous people might start causing trouble."
Someone as petty as Sophie would definitely cry again if she knew how popular Lily was. Just the thought of it was annoying.
Lily sighed in relief, "Thanks for understanding."
"Lily, you finally showed up. I thought you were planning to avoid us forever!"
Austin had been waiting at the school gate. When he saw a familiar figure on the playground, he knew it was Lily.
For the past few days, Lily hadn't answered calls or texts. Actually, she had deleted his contact information.
Thinking about it made Austin angry.
When Lily saw Austin, her expression remained indifferent.
She turned to Violet and the others, "I have to go. We'll talk later."
She walked towards the campus exit, not intending to say much to Austin.
Austin grew more frustrated. "Lily, stop right there! Michael was so upset that he ended up in the hospital for several days! We've been trying to reach you. Michael has always treated you the best, and now he's sick, and you won't even go see him!"
Lily stopped in her tracks. She remembered that in her past life, Michael had only had a minor stomach issue, nothing serious.
"Lily, how long are you going to stay mad? Michael has been begging you to come back, and you still won't? The damage to your stuff before the SAT was just an accident. Barry apologized. What more do you want? His life?"
Lily stood still, Austin's accusations ringing in her ears.
It felt like she was the villain here.
She turned around, her gaze clear and sharp.
She spoke, "Which hospital is Michael in?"
"Now you ask? Too late. I'm not telling you!"
Austin was furious.
Lily really didn't care about them anymore.
In the past, she would have been frantic if Michael even coughed a few times.
But now, her indifference made him feel cold inside.
Lily nodded, "Fine, don't tell me."
She continued walking.
"Lily, are you really not going to see Michael in the hospital?"
"I just asked, and you refused to tell me."
Austin was angry, "I was just speaking out of frustration. You really won't go?"
Lily's expression remained cold, "Michael has Sophie by his side. Whether I go or not makes no difference."
"How can it be the same? Sophie isn't our real sister."
As soon as Austin said that, he saw Sophie walking over from the school building.
The atmosphere grew awkward.
Everyone heard what he said.
Sophie stood there, her eyes red with embarrassment.
Lily's gaze held a hint of mockery, "Austin, that was wrong of you. Even though Sophie is adopted, she has done a lot for the Roberts family. How can you say something so hurtful?"
Austin's face turned sour.
He looked at Sophie and tried to explain, "I didn't mean it like that."
Sophie wiped her tears and forced a smile, "I understand. You have always treated me well, like a real sister."
Austin sighed in relief, "Glad you didn't misunderstand."
One Lily was already giving him a headache. If Sophie got upset, too, it would be unbearable.
Austin turned back to Lily, "Sophie is always so understanding and obedient. She would never be petty like you, throwing tantrums and running away from home!"
Lily admired Sophie's acting skills.
She turned and walked away, not bothering to respond to Austin.
But Austin wasn't ready to give up. He chased after her, "Lily, what kind of part-time job have you been doing? Are you streaming?"
Austin was still uncertain.
Lily's voice sounded exactly like the streamer SweetLemon.
Almost identical.
So he wanted to confirm it himself, which was why he came to the school.
Lily looked up, her expression a mix of amusement and disdain, "Austin, you want to know if SweetLemon is me, right?"
Austin's face grew tense, "Don't overthink it. I'm just asking."
Lily's eyes held a hint of sarcasm.
When she was practicing hard to win a championship for the Titan Team, Austin had never paid her this much attention!
Now that she had left, he shamelessly clung to her.
She spoke calmly, "Do you want me to be, or not?"
