Chapter 195 Why Should She Be the One to Compromise
Michael's blood instantly gushed out, dripping onto the floor.
When Lily saw the bright red blood, she was out of breathe for a moment.
She hadn't expected Michael to actually harm himself.
She shouted, "Are you crazy?"
Alvin was also scared and quickly snatched away the glass shard, pressing down on Michael's wrist. "Mr. Roberts, How can you do this to yourself."
But Michael acted as if he felt nothing.
He looked at Lily. "After I die, I'll leave the company to you. Just remember to visit my grave."
Lily's hands slowly clenched.
Dennis stood in front of Lily, blocking her view.
He looked down at Lily. "Don't look."
Lily stood still. She lowered her eyelids and only saw the blood on the floor growing more and more.
Alvin said urgently, "Mr. Roberts, let's go to the hospital."
But Michael didn't move, stubbornly staring at Lily the whole time.
Alvin cried out loudly, "Ms. Roberts, I'm begging you, let Mr. Roberts go to the hospital. Someone could die, he really could die."
Lily squeezed her eyes shut. Why is everyone forcing her?
She stepped out of Dennis's arms and looked over at Michael.
She walked toward him.
A hint of hope appeared in Michael's eyes. He wanted Lily to see clearly how sincere his apology was.
He could die for her.
Lily walked up to Michael and struck his neck with her hand. Michael immediately passed out.
Lily said coldly, "Take him to the hospital."
Alvin couldn't think about anything else now and had the bodyguards come in to carry him.
David had been waiting by the elevator and hadn't seen anyone, but then he saw Michael come out covered in blood. His face turned pale with fear. "What happened?"
Alvin's voice was choked with tears. "Mr. Michael Roberts wanted Ms. Roberts' forgiveness and took extreme measures."
He had warned Michael before, but Michael hadn't listened.
Otherwise, how could things have come to this.
David was also panicked and clumsily helped Alvin take Michael to the hospital.
Michael's blood dripped all the way from the office to the elevator.
Lily saw the blood on the floor. She turned around to avoid looking at it.
She really hadn't expected Michael to go this far.
Dennis took a tissue and bent down to wipe the blood stains on her hands. "This is his personal behavior. Don't let it affect you."
"Exactly, Lily, this is a kind of moral blackmail," Eric agreed.
Dennis continued, "Guilt manipulation."
Eric nodded. "Right, he's hoping to make you soften through this extreme method. We're not falling for it!"
Lily slowly let out a breath. She watched him carefully wipe the blood from her hands, and her eyelashes trembled a few times.
The seed she had been guarding against and preventing from sprouting all this time.
Still, at this moment, it had quietly sprouted and grown quite a bit.
Her heart tightened, and she quickly looked away, afraid someone would notice something.
Dennis checked her hands, and after they were clean, he straightened his back.
He casually threw the wet wipe into the trash can. "Did you finish what you came here to work on today?"
"Not yet. I was planning to have a meeting with everyone to discuss how to fix the BUG. I didn't expect the Roberts family to come so aggressively, and so many things happened." Lily's expression was a bit unnatural.
Dennis said calmly, "Then, shall we have the meeting in half an hour?"
Eric quickly said, "Actually, there's no need to rush. We could have the meeting tomorrow."
Couldn't he see that Lily wasn't in a good mood?
Making her work now wouldn't that be a bit cruel?
Eric kept shooting Dennis meaningful looks, but he pretended not to see them.
But Lily shook her head. "I'm fine. Let's have the meeting in half an hour."
She couldn't let the Roberts family affect her life.
They were strangers.
Lily looked at the two people in front of her. "I'm going to the restroom."
After she spoke, she left the office. The blood on the floor was still there, but the staff had already come to clean it up.
After Lily left, Eric couldn't help but complain, "You don't know how to care for her at all. At a time like this, you should accompany Lily home and comfort her properly."
"She's not fragile. She doesn't need that kind of protection," Dennis glanced at the blood on the floor. "It seems the Roberts family hasn't learned their lesson yet."
"They do need to be taught a lesson, but the Roberts Group was originally founded by Lily's parents as a branch company. Even the company name and address were chosen by her parents. If it goes bankrupt, won't she be sad?"
After all, it was also a kind of memento.
Dennis's expression turned cold. He turned and left the office, also heading toward the restroom.
He saw Lily go into the emergency stairwell.
Lily sat alone on the steps, lost in thought.
The scene of Michael cutting his wrist and blood dripping kept replaying in her mind.
Dennis came and sat down beside her, saying softly, "Need some comfort?"
Lily turned her head to see him and suddenly felt both amused and exasperated. "What are you doing here?"
"Delivering comfort," Dennis patted his own shoulder. "I'll lend it to you for a while, free of charge."
Lily glanced at it and leaned directly on his shoulder.
She slowly closed her eyes. "Tell me, am I being too harsh?"
"Forgot how David cursed at you? And during your exam period, Michael prepared broken stationery for you, almost causing you to fail."
Lily took a deep breath. "I know."
Dennis flicked her forehead. "Your standards are too high. Lower them a bit."
"Have you heard this saying: Lower your standards and live shamelessly?"
"You said this to your fans in your livestream."
Lily asked in question, "Did I ever say that?"
Dennis nodded.
She thought for a moment and said, "I do hate them, and I'll definitely never forgive them."
After Lily finished speaking, she added, "But when I was little, they were really good to me."
But only before Sophie came.
She was only a few years old when her parents died in a car accident.
When times were good, they were really good.
But when times were bad, she paid with her life.
Dennis looked down and saw her conflicted expression. He felt a bit sorry for her. "But you already paid the price before. You've paid it all back."
Lily thought of her fate in her previous life. Yes.
She had died once. She had long since paid it all back.
After Lily said these things, she immediately felt much lighter.
She realized she was leaning on his shoulder. Dennis's hand rested naturally on the step, and from a distance, it looked as if he was holding her in his arms.
She lowered her eyelids and didn't move.
Neither of them spoke, maintaining this position.
Lily's heartbeat sped up uncontrollably. She was worried he would hear it, so she looked up in a panic. "Is it almost time?"
Just then, Dennis looked down, and his lips brushed across her forehead.
Neither of them had expected this accident.
Lily stood up in a fluster. "We need to go to the meeting."
Her foot missed the step, and Dennis pulled her into his arms. "Be careful."
Lily's ears instantly turned red.
They were very close, and the space around them was narrow and quiet.
At this moment, there were only the two of them and the sound of their heartbeats intertwining.
She looked up and met his gaze.
The distance between them gradually shortened...
