Chapter 123 Lily, You're Dead
Lily's lips curled into a cold smile: "Why should I care about your feelings?"
Looks like Austin really didn't get it.
"Lily, everyone knows you're my sister. I have beef with the Bubble Buddies Team. If you join the Bubble Buddies Team, I'll become a laughingstock!"
Austin was already being laughed at.
He lost the first match of the finals and had no right to advance. His team was barely hanging on now.
If Lily really joined the Bubble Buddies Team, what would happen to his team?
"None of your business."
Lily hung up right after saying that. Was Austin still dreaming she'd come back?
How ridiculous.
That afternoon, when the time came, Lily went straight to the Quest University team's gaming base.
She had to admit, Quest University's gaming base was pretty big, and the building looked quite nice, too.
Lily walked in. Quite a few new people had already arrived.
"Lily, even a hick like you likes gaming?"
Lily looked up and saw Samantha, but didn't see Sophie.
She sat down on a stool and said coolly, "I never thought you'd like following me around so much. Wherever I go, you go."
She'd just arrived, and Samantha showed up right after.
Looks like Wendy was pretty good at tipping people off.
"Lily, don't flatter yourself. My father sponsors the Quest University team, too. What's wrong with me coming to check it out?"
Samantha sneered: "You're the one who wants to join the Quest University team, right? But not just anyone can get in here. With your level of skill, stop daydreaming."
"Hasn't the Quest University team always been about skill? Or do they rely on connections now?"
Samantha said angrily, "But do you even have the skills?"
"Whether I have skills or not is none of your business."
Lily completely ignored Samantha, which really pissed her off.
Soon, the Quest University team captain arrived: "Welcome everyone to our club. Only those who pass the screening can become reserve members and eventually become full members."
Samantha mocked from the side: "I bet some people won't even pass the reserve member test."
When it was Lily's turn, she was in the last batch.
She sat in front of the computer and skillfully began waiting for the game PK to start.
Samantha glanced at a team member nearby and secretly increased the difficulty of the AI opponent for Lily's PK.
When the game started, Lily could tell the difficulty had been increased.
But it made no difference to her. She took down the AI in three moves.
Everyone watching around was stunned: "She's so good! She beat the AI so fast!"
"She's amazing! She's definitely not a newbie player!"
Seeing this, Samantha looked at the team member in disbelief: "Didn't I tell you to increase the difficulty? Did you mess up?"
"Ms. Harper, I did increase the AI difficulty. She really is that good."
Clearly an experienced player!
Lily looked at Samantha with a half-smile.
At this moment, Captain Theron Caudill came over to smooth things over: "Looks like our team has another talented newcomer. Lily, congratulations on becoming a reserve member."
Lily was pretty calm about it, but Samantha was really unhappy.
Samantha pulled Theron aside and said in a low voice: "I don't care, you can't let that bitch Lily join the Quest University team!"
"Ms. Harper, Lily passed the test fair and square. We can't break the rules in front of so many people. If she stays on the team and you want to deal with her, won't there be plenty of chances later?"
"You've got a point."
Only then did Samantha stop pushing the issue. She definitely wouldn't let Lily have it easy.
Lily walked around the Quest University base and saw the wall of honor.
She noticed that at the very front of the wall of honor, there was a silhouette of someone wearing a hoodie, not an actual photo.
Lily walked closer and saw it was the legendary King.
She hadn't expected that King was from the Quest University team. Did that mean he was also a Quest University student before?
There was actually very little information about that legend. She had only just learned this now.
"Lily, you've got some talent for this. Are you joining the team out of interest, or do you have some goal in mind?"
"I want to join the national team!"
This was one of Lily's wishes.
A flash of disdain appeared in Theron's eyes. Did she want to join the national team? She really doesn't know her limits.
But on the surface, he didn't show it: "That's a nice dream. You'll have to work hard and come to the base often for training."
Lily nodded obediently: "I know."
"Lily, do you want to go out tonight? I can show you around."
"I have something to do tonight, so I can't go."
"Don't get me wrong, it's our team's welcome dinner for new members. You just became a reserve member. It wouldn't look good if you didn't go, right?"
Only then did Lily reluctantly agree.
That evening, Lily went to the dinner location with the team club members.
But when she arrived, she discovered it was actually a bar.
Theron looked at Lily: "First time here? Don't be scared, I'll protect you."
"Our captain is playing the hero, saving the damsel now."
"Theron, you're protecting Lily like this, we're so jealous."
Theron quickly waved his hands: "Don't talk nonsense, you'll scare the kid."
When Lily heard "kid," she felt somewhat disgusted.
She avoided Theron's hand and deliberately pulled away to create distance between them.
The group went to a private room upstairs.
Eric happened to come out to make a phone call and get some air when he saw Lily appear with a group of young men and women. A flash of surprise showed in his eyes. Was he seeing things?
Eric turned and went to the VIP private room, where several young men in suits were sitting, their every gesture showing their privileged background.
They were sitting together playing cards!
Eric walked to Dennis's side and said in a low voice: "I just saw Lily."
Dennis's brow furrowed: "What's she doing here?"
"I'm wondering too. She seems to be here with her classmates, laughing and chatting. A guy is being attentive to her."
Dennis's eyes instantly darkened: "You're sure?"
"Positive. Their private room is on the second floor. But she's in college now, making new friends, having admirers is normal."
Seeing Dennis's expression turn rather unpleasant, Eric stopped talking.
But for the rest of the game, Dennis played with a dark expression and crushed everyone, leaving devastation at the card table.
"Dennis, did you eat gunpowder today?"
Eric guiltily touched his nose. He could probably guess the reason.
Some men, they say they'll let go, but they still can't!
In the private room downstairs.
Lily sat in a corner, not wanting to go around toasting and networking at all.
Samantha walked into the private room with Sophie and waved her hand grandly: "Today's tab is on me!"
"We really appreciate it!"
Samantha turned to look at Lily: "But not her. I'm not paying for her."
